Amity Motors is avoiding giving me an itemized receipt for my payment that they accepted on 10/17/2024. After several in-person stops in and some phone calls, and 6 x taking my car back to be diagnosed so Carshield would pay a claim, Brett at Amity told me that they had to do a lot of checks before Carshield would take a claim. The bottom line was, that I would pay $250 which I did, $100 was for deductible and rest would be for labor and whatever repair they did that made the engine light go out. They were going to email me the itemized bill. Last week I told Brett for a claim #, because it seemed that Carshield was making them crazy & I could call them if it would help. He said that they didn't even get to the point of a claim. I then went back and told Brett that if there was no claim, then I had no deductible, so then all I needed was the itemized bill to justify my payment & to keep record in case the issue (we think it was the turbo) came up again. Here it is 10/31/2024, I went in to say again, that I had not received the emailed statement, that I was told I would get for the last 2 weeks. Kyle told me that the owner Scott, who was with Brett this week trying to adjust some things on the account, said that I HAVE to wait. I told Kyle that I've waited long enough and wanted to speak to Scott. Scott was in Canada. Very frustrated,I told Kyle to tell Scott & Brett that I would be putting in a complaint. Highly recommend NOT using this shop for repairs on your vehicle. I brought my car in for low oil pressure and other check engine lights. They did the oil change and told me I was good to go. 35 minutes after picking up my car from the shop, I heard a loud noise that sounds like a flat tire. I was on 91 in Hartford and pulled over to check it out. I looked under the car and saw that the engine shield also known as the skid plate, dragging on the ground and held on by just TWO bolts. For me to safely drive I had to get under and literally rip the plate off from the bolts. The engine shield was wrecked and now I have to purchase another one. I called the shop and they told me the owner would give me a call. Ofcoarse he never did and now I'm out even more money. This is just another example of a shop taking advantage of its customers and doing shady work all while not taking responsibility for THIER mistake. This could have easily been avoidable if the shop properly installed the engine shield. Be aware and DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP WITH YOUR VEHICLE. read more

I have an Audi, and have had a hard time finding a good and reputable shop to work on it. Thankfully, Brett and Scott took my car, which had to be towed to the shop, and repaired it the same day, and didn't charge me a like I was made of money. Fast, accurate and painless. They're friendly and helpful. These guys are my new mechanics, and I will bring all of my repairs to this shop from now on. I'm done with the high cost of bringing it to the dealer, and the sketchy problems of having issues misdiagnosed to the point of seriously expensive repairs. Initially dropped off car ask for a price quote. Brett will only volunteer to give hourly rate. However, after my car received a diagnostic check. No adequate information was given to me concerning price or problem. Never received any information to cost of diagnostic and changing of battery. Requested old battery, but shop stole without letting me decide to keep or discard. Car probably never needed a battery. And new battery sold to me was significantly marked up. This shop will rip you off, do not bring your car to Amity Motors. Avoid this place at all cost. No accountability. read more

We choose Amity Motors because of their fantastic reviews, but the service we received was deplorable. Dropped the car off on Monday for oil leak repair and engine light and didn't hear back from them until Wednesday. Called Monday and Tuesday to check in, didn't receive a call back. They told us we could have the car back on Friday, but then they informed us on Friday morning that the engine light issue wasn't evaluated and they were just getting around to it the day we were supposed to pick the car up. Not once did they call us with updates, we had to call and they failed to properly evaluate the car. Terrible service so just goes to show you that you can't always trust reviews to determine where to take your car for repairs. read more

I wanted to give no stars. Brand new to the area. Garage is around the corner from my house. Dropped my car off Monday. Its now Friday. Car needed an oil plug a gasket and it had a check engine light. Also asked for a tire rotation after I'd dropped it off. In 5 days, I haven't received a single phone call from anyone at the garage. Every time I've called, Brett or someone else says they're going to call me back and never do. When I eventually get frustrated and call them back (I've made 2 phone calls in 5 days, one on the third day, one the fifth day) I never get any usable information and they say they'll call me back. (They never do) I also asked them to rotate my tires, but I doubt that happened seeing it took 5 days to obtain a drain plug. Maybe if anyone from the garage had made an attempt at contacting me even once throughout the week, I may have understood. Things get busy. I get it. But never again....... worst service from a garage I've ever had. No communication. No sense of urgency. read more

You hear such bad things about auto mechanics, but Amity Motors breaks the stereotype. The staff is so knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge and expertise. When I bring my car in I am confident that it will come out running like new. I have needed some major work done on my car a few times and they have always succeeded in making the process move smoothly. There has never been a problem that they couldn't fix and it has always been done quickly with absolute efficiency. I don't know a thing about the inner workings of a car, so when I am describing the problem with my car by mimicking the sounds it's making, they always seem to get a good idea of where I am coming from. They ask the questions that lead to my understanding of what's going on with the car as well as their understanding of what the problem is and how to fix it. This opens up the chance for them to be able to explain what they plan to do in order to fix it. Even when the car is brought in for a specific job to be done, they make sure to give the whole car a once over in case there is something else wrong. They are so thorough in their work, even if it is just an oil change. They don't make you feel silly for asking a question or not knowing something about how a car works. Craig at the front desk is awesome and is always willing to take the time and answer my questions. They look my car over and provide you with a list of repairs that are needed, in order of importance, with estimates. Not many places are willing to put that much time into each car. I dropped my BMW off Monday evening for a wheel bearing replacement and had it back Tuesday afternoon. Final cost was exactly what they quoted and I probably saved hundreds over going to the dealer or elsewhere. I live in NYC and drive to Woodbridge to have my car serviced - that should indicate how good I think the service is at Amity. I find them to be fair and professional and good to their word. I needed a repair and they told me it would take 9 hours, instead it took 17 hours and 2 guys to complete the repair - they never charged me more even though it was more complicated than we all thought.
