It has so much to offer. Long and meandering walking paths, two ponds, the river, two "beaches", a natural playground and access to the white water park. There is plenty of grass to run around on in the summer. There is also a large shelter and really nice bathrooms. The playground is cool. A stone slide, lots of rocks to climb on, and cool structures. It's a great place for adventurous kids. I would caution against bringing a kid younger than 2ish, because it is not conducive to an early walker. As with all still water, check the water quality before swimming. It seems like every summer, there is an outbreak of listeria or E. coli. They do have life jackets available for free. This park is right next to Idaho River Sports so you can rent SUPs or kayakes or other fun water activities. There is a decent amount of parking but if you're at the park for an event (say the Boise River Boogie) expect to park in one of the near neighborhoods.

The sunset view at the top was absolutely stunning, we came on a clear day and could see the entire city blanketed in trees. Such a breathtaking sight and definitely a must-see when visiting Boise. The parking lot was easy to find with plenty of space, making the whole experience even better.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon and there were kids soccer games, folks playing tennis, families working out, and all ages hiking the hills. Behind the park is even tons of winding trails for both hiking and biking. While the climb up to the top of the main hill wasn't all that long, it was definitely steep. With the sun beaming down, it felt rather invigorating and provided a nice feeling of accomplishment making it to the top. This park definitely is a special part of town and it's clear that local residents definitely cherish and appreciate it!

Manitou Park is a great little neighborhood park tucked away in east Boise…read more It's not a huge park, but has better amenities than some parks twice its size. There are play areas for kids of all ages, tennis courts, a basketball court, pickleball courts (yes...that's a thing), restrooms, large expanses of green for sports or picnics, and plenty of shade trees. There's a large green field tucked in the back of the park that functions as an off leash dog area daily from sunrise to 10am and again from 4pm-sunset. The only exception to this is when there are sports going on (I went one evening and there was a soccer game underway in the usual off leash area). Summer late afternoons/early evenings are the best! The off leash area is a veritable dog party! It's not a terribly convenient location for me, but, I find it worth the drive and so make my way there often (twice, just this week!). Get to it

The park is clean. The bridges that connect to each side of the river is so peaceful to walk over. Watching the river run it's course, seeing people float the river while leaving their cares behind or just soaking up the sun while on the bridge is just magical. It's one of the best parts of the park. Our walk was amazing today. We held our event at the Old Timers Shelter. As always, the picnic tables were clean. The foliage was lush. And our park was sparkling. It was great seeing people running, walking and cycling on the greenbelt. We made our way on our path passing the Ann Frank memorial and hitting a part of Julia Davis. This park will always have a piece of my heart. I will always remember the Boise River Festival. The big water fountain. Playing at the park and heading the ducks. Swinging on the swings chatting with a boy I was talking to. I look foward to many more memories at this park in my future.

I needed a place to bring my kids to get some fresh air, but also to maintain some distance from our fellow humans. (we visited in March 2020) When I Yelped "Hiking", this little reserve was one of the top hits. It is more of a leisurely walk, but it is just perfect if you have 30-45 minutes to kill. There are two parking lots. One along McMillian (with about 10 spots) and a bigger one along Maple Grove (with about 20 spots). There are restrooms located at the Maple Grove parking lot, plus a bench, some rocks to climb on and an informational sign. The paths are all packed and filled with fine gravel. The paths will meander you past the several "lakes", filled with a variety of birds and waterfowl and boarded by cattails and tall grasses. My kids loved pointing out all the birds, tossing pebbles into the water and getting a little bit dirty. The path is all interconnected, with a few short offshoots. Eventually, you will reach a fork and you can go up or down. Either way, you'll be able to loop around and take the other option. We saw quite a few bird watchers there when we went, which added to the fun of visiting a reserve. Highly recommend!

Art in the Park at Julia Davis Park…read more Art in the Park at Julia Davis Park is such a fun experience! The event is right along the Boise Greenbelt, so you can stroll through all the incredible art vendors and then enjoy a walk around the large, beautiful park. Fun fact: Julia Davis Park is the oldest park in Boise, established in 1907, and it's still one of the city's most popular gathering spots. There were so many vendors with a big variety of artwork, with something for every taste. I even found the perfect gift for my step-dad-in-law: a mountains and sun piece made out of different kinds of rocks. If you're an art lover, this event is a must-go-to. Another bonus is how easy it is to explore the area. You can rent e-bikes and e-scooters nearby to cover more ground. And every time we go, we always stop to see the giraffes at Zoo Boise, which is right next to the park. It makes for a full day of art, nature, and fun.
