This place is no more.. Currently there is a fallen tree that took out the electric service and the deck.. No sign of any activity for some time now. Live right down the road and went once. Not unhappy they're gone. Food wasn't terrible but portion size was microscopic. And they served you popcorn on an 8" metal plate.. you got like two handfuls out of it. Had Jambalaya and it was most disappointing. You can do better yourself with Zataran's from the grocery store. (BTW Zataran's is loaded with salt and MSG) read more

Don't let the tiny parking lot fool you. Park on the street if you can't find a space. There's plenty of room inside and the food is fantastic. Perfect little casual place for a burger, a beer, a salad, glass of wine or a great entree. Sit at the bar and chill or sit in the dining room for a little more ambiance. Exactly what we needed in North Haven...This place has great REAL food. I suggest the Nachos ( not like your ordinary Nachos), the grilled romaine salad is great too. They have a good selection of beers here too. Nice to see local beers being served. Overall excellent local tavern. Great service, great food, great beers... Can't ask for more. My fiancé and I ordered steaks, he ordered his medium rare but it was still raw and I ordered mine medium and it came out rare. I didn't care that mine was rare and eat it anyways but we had to share mine because the waitress never came . When she did we showed her his steak and her suggestion was to "throw the steak back on the grill". She had an attitude like it was our fault and she proceeded to ask if we wanted a box to bring the raw steak home. Another nice neighborhood place to go with friends or even a lunch by yourself. The staff is always pleasant and helpful, and the food is really good too. Enjoy going in when they have live entertainment, and the outside seating area during the seasons is nice. I especially love the tavern chicken sandwich which is my go to for lunch, and the loaded fries are something I love to pick on when enjoying time with friends. read more

I met a dear friend who had just lost her husband. I really was looking forward to all the great reviews on YELP... so I picked this place. She is a vegetarian so I called beforehand to make sure there was something she would enjoy. I arrived the bartender was very nice but I don't think she was a bartender. She didn't know where anything was. I watched her for at least ten minutes looking for an ingredient for another patrons drink. Since they were regulars they were very kind. After watching & waiting, and she was still looking for the ingredient for the other guy.... she asked me if I would like a drink. I asked it they had tomato juice or v8. She didn't know.... she had to check downstairs.. I don't think the other guy ever got the drink he wanted... they never found it. She said they didn't have tomato or V8. I said ok... but then my friend came in so I waited to order. We both asked for absolute and soda. Simple, easy. She took off for a bit and came back saying they had one shot of absolute left. We kettle and soda. I had read reviews about the nachos.... so I suggested we get munch on those and we ordered them. When they were served... I thought to myself... "what is all this creamy stuff on them?"..... it wasn't cheese. I had a hard time finding any cheese.... I wasn't a fan of this 'salad dressing?' They put all over it. Big pieces off onion.... it was the oddest and quite frankly unappetizing nachos I have ever seen. But that was the presentation. When I tasted this 'salad dressing' (two types and different colors...I was not happy. And now I started looking for the cheese just to get away from the 'salad dressing'. (I think this stuff was those plastic bottles with the skinny top to make the food decorative). We play clef but neither of us were impressed or raving about the nachos. I was abit embarrassed. I wanted her to eat.... she's a widow.... one week. Then the bar changed hands.... the bartenders were very attentive and nice.... very kind.... bought us a drink. (We were there 4 hrs). We didn't order any other food because we were pretty turned off by the nachos. (My feeling.... don't mess with the regular ingredients of nachos). It certainly wasn't crowded. But we left at 6:30. This place was nicely appointed .... but was truly disappointed with nachos.... if they did this to nachos.... I didn't want to try anything else. The atmosphere was nice, the bartenders were great once a shift change came in(I feel bad for the young girl... she didn't know where anything was). Because it was pretty quiet she was able to talk. Finally found the ribs and onion brick from The Amber restaurant here at Amici. It's a family recipe. Both were excellent, just like I remember. Amici has a comfortable ambiance, great service and a simple, appealing menu. The other dishes that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked inviting as well. First and last time here. Idk were to even start. Took my parents for an early dinner on a Wednesday @ 4pm. We sat as far from the bar as possible but there really isn't any separation at all between bar and dining area which is the first problem. You can't have clothe napkins and charge $12.00 for a run of the mill burger and have AC/DC blasting at 4pm! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE AC/DC but not a 4pm on wed. In a restaurant dining room with my 75 yr old parents! The people in the bar were loud and yelling over the music. It was like a Friday night at your local watering hole. Ok, on to the service. The waiter is walking over to take our order and he's texting while walking over to table, stops, looks up and says what can I get u. Really buddy, how about putting your phone away! Next is the menu, it's all over the place. They have bar food and sandwiches and then some steak. It's weird, don't seem to specialize in any one thing. The burgers and stuff are served on Calise rolls, not my favorite. You have no other choice that I know of. We ordered steak and cheese, portobello burger and chicken sandwich and all were just average to below average. I've had better at a take out deli. It's just not set up to be both a high end restaurant and a local hangout for beers and some old school rock n roll and I think that's what they are trying to be. Four of us ate here last night for the third time and this place hasn't disappointed us yet. Last night I had the dish that was like mac and cheese with broccoli and chicken. It was delicious. Other orders were a chicken sandwich, a burger and a salad wedge. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service and friendliness of the staff is exceptional and we will definitely be back. We went on a Wednesday during a holiday week, thinking it would not be very busy. We were wrong! As other patrons have noted, the restaurant is pretty loud. The other half of our party arrived before us and secured a table. We started with fish tacos and Cuban egg rolls. The fish tacos were some of the best I have had in a while. Great flavors. I ordered a filet with horseradish cream, and my husband ordered the lobster ravioli special. My filet was cooked perfectly. My husband's entree was over seasoned just a bit and the portion was smaller than expected. Side note- he is 6'4"- solid build- so his appetite is larger than the average person's. Once he finished the raviolis, he ordered the Cuban sandwich as well. Our dining companions shared a Porterhouse- huge- and cooked just to their liking. The service was good, and I think it was either a manager or one of the owners who stopped by to check in on us. Nice touch. Will definitely return! read more

Visited recently. Thought it was a very nice addition to the North Haven dining scene. I wish them well for long-term success. We had a caesar salad which was tasty and well presented, a couple of entrees, one was the loaded gnocchi and the other was the jambalaya. Both were very well prepared and flavorful. Our thoughts were the portion size of the jumbalaya was on the scant side while the portion size of the loaded gnocchi was generous. Our recommendation would be to swap the plates! Desert was a white chocolate bread pudding which was served quite cold which I think detracted from both flavor and texture. Service was attentive so no complaints there. We'll back but I'll likely not order the jambalaya in the future. read more

My drink arrived and it was the wrong drink. My meatloaf entrée was cold and dry. I could not find the waitress to send it back. Also as a large party was waiting we were served our appetizers with the meal. I would try it again though and try some other entrée options. read more

just had their brunch for the first time! for $20 you get a mimosa or juice, a breakfast entree, a salad buffet and a Belgian waffle section, definitely worth every penny! the breakfast tacos were fabulous and my boyfriend loved his fried chicken and biscuits! service was just as great as the food! we will definitely be back! read more

Went to the bar after dinner, My husband was being deployed in the military the next day but they refused to serve us although the we only had two martinis. Horrible Food. Horrible Service. After we waited for about 45 minutes for our food to arrive, my fried chicken and waffles was disgusting! The waffle was doughy and soggy and my chicken was RAW in the middle!! They served it on a wooden board. SO UNSANITARY!!!! All the raw chicken juice was soaking into the board. My sister ordered the jambalaya. Also terrible. They charge almost $20 for about a cup of rice that's so spicy that it's inedible and 3 little grilled shrimp. No chicken in the rice or sausage as the menu stated. They can't even make a Margarita right! Don't waste your money here. You're better off going to TGI Friday's or JRoos. read more

I visited yesterday and I can say that it is definitely a spot I'll visit again. It was a nice day, so we sat out on their patio. The food was amazing and the service was awesome (thanks to Maria!). We got the nachos as an appetizer and like the other reviews, it was so satisfying. The reasons why I gave this place 4 out of 5 stars is because the parking is limited and the outdoor patio is situated on the street side, right next to the highway. read more

Came here for lunch today with some friends. Place had a party of 2 and a party of 3 besides us. Party of 3 already had stuff. Took 10 minutes to get most of our drinks after we ordered and more than 15 minutes for the spiked milkshake. We ordered the queso to start. That also took at least 15 minutes, While it was good, it was small and not worth the price. I had the Cuban sandwich, which was pretty good, but not a $12 Cuban. Someone had the wedge salad, which came out after our party was almost halfway done with our food. They requested red wine vinegar instead of blue cheese and blue cheese dressing came on the wedge. Also they don't like balsamic and there was a balsamic glaze drizzled over the salad as well. That feature wasn't described on the menu. Someone else had the pork belly. Horrible. If you are going to put it on the menu, you should know how to cook it. By far, the worst pork belly I have seen yet. The person left more than half of it on the plate. Drink prices were more than usual. Especially the wine prices. I am on the fence if I will give this place another shot. read more
