Unfortunately this restaurant has changed under new ownership and the food just doesn't stand up to what it used to be.

Stopped in on the way home back north from our visit to Gilford CT for dinner looking for Maritime steakhouse. We arrived and apparently a Japanese restaurant was now there and the steakhouse was also still there inside. Two restaurants in one should have been a flag. After looking at the menu and seeing the word "Fried" spelled wrong multiple times on the menu...yep should have been a flag. Getting the oil and vinegar for my salad with dead flies in it. I'll never eat again. Couldn't leave fast enough. read more

Terrible. They merged with Ayuthai, and it's a complete train wreck. Take out takes over and hour, service inside is just as bad. How disappointing considering both restaurants were wonderful before. Will not be back. read more

This is a combo type Thai and Italian? The building appears a little run down. Stood at the doorway for for a few minutes before I went and asked do we sit wherever. Ordered a summer roll and Pho soup. Took 15 minutes plus for the summer roll to come out. It was a late lunch only 1 other table and 2 guys at the bar. Tasted ok. But wasn't a fan of them cutting it up like they did. Made it messy and hard to eat.(photo). Soup came out about 10 minutes after that. So if you are in a hurry this is not the place. That said the soup was very good. But not sure if I'll be visiting here again. Didn't look like it's a lack of staff. Owner was sitting at a table and went to the door every now and then. read more

Really not a good place. The food was fine- nothing was real bad or sent back. But its way less than remarkable in any way. Its hard to find the door- it still has the Thai place sign. They combined with an Italian place and still have two menus, so its a lot to go through. Huge portions, but its far more than you want to eat. We left at 830 on a Friday night and were just about the only ones there. read more

Unfortunately, this restaurant has gone downhill with their new ownership. To begin with, we discovered after we sat down that many of our old favorites (Salmon Gorgonzola, Linguine with Clams, ...), which ARE still listed on their online menu (even here on Yelp), are not actually available. Then, even though it was not very busy, we sat for quite a while before our salads arrived. And of course just as we began our salads, the entrees started arriving! However, they just STARTED arriving... some of our party-of-seven sat for more than 20 minutes without anything to eat! Finally, to top it off I found a "Non-Cash Discount" on our bill, which wasn't a discount, but a $10 charge for using a credit card. We will not be returning. read more

Here's what just happened with nearby Anthony's of Guilford ( who I give 0 STARS). I was setting up a luncheon for after a funeral. They wanted to know how many people. Of course we couldn't tell them. We didn't know who was going to show up. They then said their minimum was 40 people and they wouldn't budge. They also said they had already placed their liquor order for the week and couldn't guarantee wine. They had to schedule their wait staff so we had to go in with a deposit the next day. THEN they said we had to go to a bank and get a bank check. I said we wanted to pay by credit card. They said they would then have to charge us an additional 3% to cover the credit card fee. Never expressed sorrow that anyone died. I hung up, disgusted. I called Maritime Grille and could not be happier with them. They expressed their sorrow and also said we didn't have to worry about how many people because they knew a headcount was hard to predict. They said credit card was fine. We didn't have to do anything-- they would handle it all. Can't say enough about their outstanding customer service. Not to mention they have the BEST chicken francaise EVER!!! read more

Went on a Saturday night around 7 party of 4. Everybody was happy with their meal. There are 2 menus one is seafood, steak, chicken (marsala, piccata Etc.) burgers and other traditional American. The other is Thai food. One person ordered Thai it was an app of spring rolls and entree of cashew chicken...she loved it and I tied it and loved it too. I had chicken Francese it was excellent...not breaded and seasoned very well the mashed potato's were top notch too. I do wish there was an option to have a side of Pene instead of potato though. Dinners come with a small salad which isn't bad, but the salad could be better and I think there are only 3 dressings available. I don't think bread or rolls come with dinner but someone at the table requested some and there were brought out hot and delicious...they should give them to every table because they are something to brag about and don't cost much to make. The decor is very dated but to us that is part of the appeal it is not a new place trying to be trendy, the wait staff are knowledgeable and seem as if they have been working there forever. Don't expect a place geared towards millennials....it looks like the places you went to for celebration dinners with your parents back in the early 80'S. Extremely disappointed. They messed up on our take out order. You can tell seafood was not fresh, veggies were mush; obviously canned. The Zuppa de clams, ugh. Most were closed, underneath was bread which made it look like there was more. Ordered Ceasar salads and they gave us a mustard dressing. Salad looked old, not fresh. Sirloin burger was eh, fries cheap brand frozen, tasted freezer burned. NO coleslaw as promised with order. The chef takes no pride in the food. They have a bar crowd, no masks on anyone when I walked in today. Never again! All for $95 for crap food. read more

Went for dinner last night. 3 people in our group ordered the Filet Mignon, rare. Dinner came with a salad. The salad was simply some iceburg lettuce, a couple tomatoes, 3 slices of cucumber (one sticker on the cucumber) and some dollar store croutons. The steaks all arrived well done with no sign of a pink center, a dry baked potato and some veggies. The waitress gave us one dinner for free but at NO time did the owner or a manager come out to see us or offer an apology!! The poor waitress had to handle it all. Not fair to her!! Crappy dinners for almost $40 a pop. Note to all DO NOT order any Steak from the Maritime Grille!! I cannot give an opinion on any other food there. read more

The calamari was good, but the macaroni and cheese was a disaster. Boiled milk over macaroni and some shredded cheese, incredibly unappealing. It was on the children's menu, but I am in no way convinced a child would eat that. Really disappointed. read more

It looks like it is transitioning to the Thai restaurant it shares the space with. You get both menus. Food is good and plenty of it.

We ventured to this place after finding fresh seafood options on their menu compared to the other places around hawking fried seafood. It's a very modest looking place, almost missing the parking lot to pull in and had ordered pick up ahead of time. We had our dog with us in the car so we opted to eat in the parking lot in our car. We ordered the haddock Poseidon, stuffed mushrooms, lobster bisque and side of asparagus. Every single bite was delicious!!! We were not expecting to have one of the best seafood meals of our lives last night. The seafood was cooked perfectly and to do that with not only fish but the shrimp and scallops and chunks of lobster is no small feat. The cook did an outstanding job with the seafood to breading ratio on the stuffed mushrooms as well. I even went inside after eating to thank them for their hard work because I know in these times it is tough for all restaurants and I have told many people already about this place because they are doing food right. The workers are so nice and we can't wait to go back! read more

On the first Monday of our vacation, we left the beach and were in search of a nice place to sit outdoors and have lunch. We searched Yelp and Maritime Grille showed up as an option. Other than being a bit bothered by wasps, the meal was good and the service was attentive. We initially wanted seafood but my husband had a gorgonzola burger and I had a chicken wrap; both came with fries and cole slaw. I can't say the flavor of my wrap was outstanding; it was fine. My husband enjoyed his burger. The waitress (I don't remember her name) was perfect - attentive but did not hover. Thanks to the lovely weather, sitting outside made the visit enjoyable. read more

Let me start by saying, I really enjoyed the lobster bisque. Delicious flavor. Onto the review, I did mention to my group that I was surprised the restaurant was so empty on a beautiful Saturday night in July. I guess that should've been a tiny red flag. Very empty and only people in their 70's-80's were the coming/going patrons. My salad was drowning in dressing which I was able to overlook because, hey, this girl likes blue cheese dressing. The entrée I had was stuffed haddock. The fish was okay, not blown away. The veggies were obviously a frozen and/or canned medley (think: those peas, corn, carrot bits) which is disappointing for the price you pay for the meal and felt a little lazy. Also, let's be real, those little things are water-sodden and icky. Some fresh veggies would've been appreciated. The fries were also from frozen I assume because they were all perfect crinkle-cut fries. Overall my group and I had a wonderful time with each other which softened the blow of my meal just a bit. Wasn't horrible, but left me disappointed. Frozen fries and veggies, makes you wonder where else they cut corners. Update: had my leftovers and saw the seafood stuffing had what looks like the pink fake crab meat pieces in it. Also ended up with a few bits of shell which means something must've been legit in there. My friends did say they liked what they ordered so maybe this fish was a fluke. The staff was friendly and the food portions were generous. I had the herb-crusted NY strip and it was perfectly cooked and delicious with the onions and mushrooms. The garlic potatoes were ok but the veggies were a frozen mixture. Hubby had the sole over pasta and really enjoyed it. Pleasant meal. read more

Just had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at Maritime Grille with 11 other family members. My dirty martini was perfect. The stuffed shrimp was fresh and well seasoned. The portions were generous and the staff was so friendly. We got just enough attention, even though the restaurant was crowded, but they let us sit and talk without rushing us. It was a nice way to spend time with family and catch up. Sofia greeted us at the end of the meal and presented our grandmothers with a gift to take home. A lovely experience. read more

Seafood is not fresh it tasted as if it was made many many many months ago and frozen and heated in a microwave right after we ordered it . Very over priced for the quality of the food . Complained to the owner Sophie who just argued with us about how the food was fresh but lied to our faces . Even the vegetables looked like they were frozen and re heated . Where do I start. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years. This year, we decided to have a holiday family dinner in a room off to the side of the main dining room. Our daughter and 2 grown granddaughters, from out of state, walked in, as I was parking the car. They had never been there before. They told me later, that the woman, and owner ( Sophia) never acknowledged them, never smiled. I walked in with my husband, who has difficulty walking. Sophia stood there and stared at him as he made his long, difficult way to the room. Very rude. Never said welcome, hello nothing. The room was freezing. As cold as Sophia's attitude. We asked to have the heat turned up. The very nice waitress tried to have this done, but to no avail. No decorations, no music, no tablecloths etc... Coat on one person the entire night. There were a total of 12 of us. The appetizers came and my daughter asked the waitress to put them on a small table for us to wander over and pick out what people wanted. My husband told me later that he could see "Sophia " glaring at us when this was done. She, by the way rarely left her booth, across the way, the entire time we were there (watching our every move). I'm 73 and my husband is 81. Not like there was a wild scene going on. My husband prime was very fatty, could not eat it. I was told later that several people said Merry Christmas to Sophia, on the way out, she did not reciprocate. The one star I gave is for the waitress that did a great job. So long Sophia. read more

My wife and I decided to try this place on Sunday for lunch. As we pulled up the parking lot was so empty and inside lights so dim I thought that they were closed. As we walked inside we were greeted by the host/owner? Besides her there were two other people in the very dated restaurant. One a bartender and a possible customer sitting at a table. It was a beautiful day so we asked to sit outside on the stone patio which the host obliged. As she was taking us out she asked if we would like a drink. My wife said sure do you have a drink list and she handed us a menu which when we opened only had wine on it. Wife wasn't in the mood for wine so at this point the huffy puffy miserable bartender came over and I said to him this is only the wine list. He let out a sigh and said oh so you want the Martini list? As he is doing this I asked what beers they have. He reply's to me oh I don't know what beer do you usually drink? Keep in mind we were never given a lunch menu this entire time. I can't even give you a review on the food because at this point we decided to order two corona's and have lunch elsewhere. It was like we were ruining this guys day coming in for lunch. There was one person at a table that I'm not even sure was a customer!! Yet we were inconveniencing him by looking to get a drink with our lunch. Will never go back. read more

Pretty bad overall. Waitress got our drink order wrong and never refilled our waters. Lobster bisque had next to no flavor. Salad had wilted lettuce. I got the salmon Gorgonzola with veggies and rice. The rice was overcooked and the veggies were straight from a can (could tell because they were crinkle cut). The Gorgonzola spinach on top of the salmon was extremely salty and borderline inedible. For a place that bills themself as a "maritime" theme they sure missed the target with their seafood. Waitress added our check wrong too and overcharged us by 10 dollars too. When we asked her to split the check and she sighed at us. Stick to burgers or things that aren't hard to mess up if you go here. read more

A Friend goes here mostly to sit at the bar for drinks and they like the bartenders. Went to dinner for my first time. Way overpriced. Veggies looked like a mix of canned and frozen. Stuffing was like mush. Seafood decent but definitely not worth $30 for the seafood casserole. Waitress didn't come back to check on us and I wanted more water. Friend asked for no coleslaw but got it anyway and croutons were hard as a rock. Would not go back here. 2 stars is being generous read more

Had dinner last night with my husband and we were very happy. The waitress was super friendly and the service was great. With all of the seafood restaurants on the shoreline we were hesitant to order it. My husband had the broiled seafood platter which comes with salad, rolls & vegetables. The price was right and he was very satisfied with what he got. I ordered a lobster roll and was ready to compare it to the many lobster rolls I have had at other places. It was great and just what I would have expected. There was plenty of lobster meat and it came with crispy fries and cole slaw. Maritime Grille catered our event for 30-40 people at our home. We ordered a variety of food to be delivered; it arrived on time -- and hot! The Chicken Parmesan was - as Pete said - a main hit. The salad was crispy, fresh with a variety of vegetables. The calamari were perfectly seasoned and soft - not chewy - cooked to perfection. Stuffed mushrooms were baked firm yet moist, with chunks of seafood. I highly recommend their catering services for any event. We look forward to having dinner there soon! read more
