If you are looking for a high-end, quiet, upscale, restaurant...THIS IS NOT IT!!! Noisy, chaotic, large parties, lots of noisy kids, with parents who find it necessary to talk even louder. To make it even worse, they follow the "Tetris Seating Plan" which is to crush all guests together in one area of the restaurant leaving the rest of the restaurant empty. This place is nice and we are for sure going back. My date and I stopped in on a busy night with limited seating and no reservation. The host was very busy but he made sure to greet and help us out. This place is amazing! My friends and I were on vacation staying in largo, and we wanted Italian so we came here and all of us agreed it was the best Italian we've ever had. The staff was so sweet to us & we had such a good time the first time we went, we had to go back again. The chicken piccata was next level, and their homemade house dressings ( balsamic & ceaser ) were delicious!! The good.... The bad.... Hmmm... I just was not too impressed. Our server was very hard to understand. It was like she was talking with a cryptic tongue. Every time she walked away we all looked at each other utterly perplexed. We were the first customers and I don't think the kitchen was fully prepared. I'd say that we waited close to an hour for our pizzas to come.. and when they arrived, they were just mediocre. We didn't get any appetizers or any of the entrees, so I can't talk about that. Have driven past this place innumerable times on the way back and forth to the beach but have never stopped. Man, was I missing out. EXCELLENT Italian fare. It's a storefront spot at then end of a strip center. There are about 30 tables in 3 rooms, plus a few on the sidewalk out front. You enter in a small anteroom overlooking the pizza oven and it's a little confusing with a mix of people waiting to be seated and the to-go orders being picked up. This is a BUSY place, and there are lot's of orders being picked up! The room where we sat featured an enormous fish tank. Beautifully curated, the tank is really cool. Very peaceful to watch the fish do their thing while we ate. Our server, John, took great care of us. Explained the menu and specials, counseled us on good choices and kept the meal moving. Smiling, gracious and professional. THANK YOU! At seating, a basket of warm rolls and seasoned olive oil is served. Exercise restraint - you'll want to demolish the whole basket but you gotta leave room for the entrees. Started with a cup of minestrone soup. Now you may be thinking... this is Florida.... isn't it too hot for soup?? Well, on this day no, it was 45 degrees outside. Regardless, though, this soup is OUTSTANDING. Homemade, brimming with veggies and potatoes in a rich bold broth. House salad is also great. Fresh and crisp with house made creamy vinaigrette dressing. Next up, pasta. Penna ala vodka is delectable. Perfectly al dente penne with a tomato/heavy cream/vodka sauce. The sauce is light and creamy, not overpowering. The serving is big enough to take some home for lunch tomorrow! Also linguine with shrimp. Perfectly prepared al dente linguine, tossed with shrimp sauteed in garlic and oil. Shrimp have a crunch to each bite, with (bonus!!) tails already removed. It doesn't taste especially garlicky, but there are definitely chunks of garlic sauteed in there. This is one of my favorites, and it is perfectly done here. No room for dessert this time. Based on the quality of the food and the service, will be back for sure. Next time, will try one of those delicious looking wood-fired pizzas. RECOMMENDED. read more

Trying to figure out how or why I've never reviewed Amici before. Been coming here for about 10 years. Never have I had a bad meal here. Service is always perfect - wait staff is attentive and food is delicious. My only complaint is the entrees include soup or salad. I'm only a fan of chicken soup and they don't allow you to order the chicken soup with your meal so I pay extra. Just seems odd for those who don't like bean soups. Love the option of spinach instead of pasta for those looking to cut a few carbs. read more

I've never been more rushed out of a restaurant. Certainly not Italian style with the cake size plates.

My son's family came for Easter vacation and it coincided with my grandson's birthday. He wanted wood fired pizza. I have passed Amici numerous times so decided to see if they'd be open Easter-they were! So I made a reservation and everything was great. Our server, John, did a wonderful job. He explained the specials and my DIL and I had the chicken florentine (see pic) very delicious. It is served over either pasta or spinach. I chose spinach, my DIL chose pasta. Both of us liked what we got. My son got veal parm which he liked a lot and everyone else got pizza. In addition some of our dinners came with a lentil soup that was tasty and there was a basket of bread with the olive oil plate. But most importantly my grandson got the pizza he wanted and was happy. We did not order dessert because we had birthday cake at home, but next time for sure. read more

Amici's is consistently good food and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is nice but can be a bit loud on busy nights, as they draw in a lot of large parties. We have been numerous times and I am never disappointed. I am super picky about red sauce, as most Italians are, and I was not a huge fan of theirs. I ordered some apps to try this place out. 'll start with the better. the bruschetta was decent the only thing missing was fresh basil, otherwise, outstanding!! The fried calamari was slightly over cooked and rubbery although the breading was spot on. The trippe left much to desire. The gravy was good very flavorful but the tripe itself was not prepped the right way. When it's made right you shouldn't even taste the tripe (fish) flavor. it should be boiled for a minimum of 3-4 hours before mixing into the sauce for optimal taste and flavor. Anyway I'm not opposed to trying more from this restaurant as we all know the gravy makes the meal but I wouldn't recommend the calamari or the tripe. read more

The food is excellent. The owners Anna and her chef husband are so family oriented friendly and welcoming. I'm from New York and it's the best Italian food we have had in Florida in 2 years. The restaurant is clean and bright. They have a big brick oven for yummy pizza. Linda was our server and she was attentive and friendly. We ate the lentil spinach soup, garden salad with creamy balsamic dressing, penne with marinara sauce and grated cheese. Our main corse was chicken Marsala with mushrooms and veal scaloppine sorrentino with sautéed spinach. Tiramisu for dessert. Everything was amazing and we will definitely be regular customers from now on. Looking forward to going back. read more

We found this restaurant because it's really close to our house so that's really convenient. We brought our infant with us and the staff quickly welcomed us and offered accommodations for our baby for our table. The host and our server were both very friendly and were able to answer any questions we had about the menu. We tried octopus for the first time for our appetizer and it was delicious! Atmosphere: Don't be fooled when you walk in, when you see the front area it gives the impression of a delivery/pick-up pizza place. This place is so much more!! Something that caught my eye right away, the fish tank is very clean. Having inspected restaurants in Chicago, usually the fish tank is a mistake and they are always dirty. This one comparatively was immaculate. The dining area was nice and since we didn't have a reservation, we sat near the entrance which was a bit painful with people walking through a lot. Food: I would have given this place five stars however, the food was good but missing something. I ordered Linguine Carbonara. It was good but seemed to be lacking in richness. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not as cheesy and creamy as I would have liked. Also, the bacon was good but lacking in flavor. My wife ordered linguine with clams. She thought it was great, simple and flavorful. She is not a big fan of Italian food but she enjoyed it. Service: Our server was great. Very nice and friendly. The host was nice and polite but seemed a bit in a hurry and not warm but again he was friendly. I will definitely go back.
