What a big parking lot with plenty of space. This place gives off pro league vibes and has something for everyone. Thursdays are for the bowling champs they have small, and big balls. Our server Jayden was amazing, and attentive checked on us many times throughout the night. I would come back here for sure. The drinks are good and the garlic fries hit a bit oily tho. This place is very nice, spacious but it is expensive and they have covid fee charge add-ons. The front desk guy is not always staying at the front desk when customers come in to check in or check out. There is no way to find him. We had to stand there for 5 minutes at the checkin desk because no one was there. When checking out, we were standing there waiting for him also. I notice that there were customers coming and still waiting as the same time as us looking for a front desk person. Customer service is very bad here even though the place look nice, spacious and clean. read more

The only way this place stays in business is through high prices. Tried to bowl with my kids and they told us we had to be on a wait list when 36 out of 48 lanes were empty. They said they couldn't handle the high demand and refused to give me an estimated time. Meanwhile the people at the front desk just stood around doing nothing. Anytime I approached, they yelled at me and told me I was causing problems, and that no one else was. After 40min and with 75% of lanes still empty, they began to give lanes to some groups that came after us. At that point we realized there was a racial component to this as we are of a different race than the staff and most other customers. Can't believe the owners tolerate this, but a look through the Yelp reviews shows that high prices and awful service have been their standard for years. read more

Upon first look this place seems fine. Location and Parking is good, but when you dig deeper, everything isn't as it appears. The food was horrendous. Even the kids didn't like it. I went here today for a family outing, and we enjoyed ourselves. They have something like $2 lanes on Sundays. There is an option to Duckpin or Tenpin bowl. The employees were nice to me. I didn't experience any rudeness. Our lane worked perfectly fine and was easy to use. There were a variety of bowling balls, and the lanes were clean and in fairly good shape. Other areas inside were clean and orderly from what I could tell. I don't recall any music playing, but I think that could've enhanced the atmosphere some. Maybe they just don't play music on Sunday afternoons. I don't know. I can't speak on the food. We didn't try any food because we weren't hungry, but menus were placed on every table. I took a look. There were regular finger food items like chicken tenders and fries. Still, I don't have any complaints. I'll bring my business back. read more

I attended a birthday party at this location over the weekend and the place was packed. At first glance the lanes, balls, shoes etc. seemed to be in good condition and the the building bright and clean. Unfortunately there were some hygiene issues (as the night went on dirty shoes piled up on the counter and the ones I received had old food and debris inside). They seemed severely understaffed and it showed in the worst way at the concession/bar experience. I waited for 15 minutes for a bottle of angry orchard then over 90 min for a single order of chicken tenders and fries. Worst still we found out our party hosts package was supposed to come with a steady flow of pizzas, tenders and pitchers of soda none of which were ready at the agreed start time. The host had to babysit the progress at the counter and direct the food to our tables as things became available. The game play was fine. We had 4 lanes and a lively group but the food hiccups and overall lack of service for a paid party definitely put a sour taste in my mouth. I'd definitely avoid special occasions at this location until they improve their staffing/service issues. read more

My boyfriend, another couple, and I visited Towson Lanes last Saturday. We were told when we got there that we could either pay for our games up front or pay for everything later. The lady, who was the operations manager, told us she recommended we pay later so we got our shoes and went to bowl. It seemed fine at first. We were given a lane right away and there were plenty of balls to use. Then the land started glitching and wouldn't put the pins back up, or the arm wouldn't move, or It would automatically put in a score without giving us the chance to bowl. This happened a bunch of times. I went to speak with the general manager who said he would keep an eye on it. It got a little better after that but we still had had a few issues. We played two games. When It came time to leave, we went up to pay and the operations manager told us It would be $30 per couple and overcharged us for 3 games even though we only played 2. If you want to go bowling, go somewhere else. read more

So-so, average lanes. Nothing to complain about but nothing to boast about. Average prices. Good for groups, kids, parties. Big plus is the pro shop. Not too many lanes have a pro shop with honest, professionals working there. The pro shop I would give 5 stars. The guy in the shop knew his stuff, asked detailed questions. This place was GARBAGE. First, you don't pay upfront because they want to unnecessarily charge you later. In total, it cost $70 bucks to play two games. There were only four people. Second, the staff was horrible all night. My friend ordered fries at 7:09 and he got them at 7:55. It took 45 minutes to make fries. And as we were checking out, the cashier swore saying the F bomb out loud to us and then said, "men aren't good for anything, right?" One of the people we went with was a guy and he heard everything and it was so awkward. Finally, our lane wasn't working right. My friend would hit one pin and it was literally give her a strike . It was funny but slightly annoying. And when our lane wasn't working right, it took the staff 15 minutes to finally communicate to each other that it needed to be fixed. This place was garbage and I will never be back. read more

My expectations are generally fairly low regarding bowling alleys. They're usually moderately dingy, poorly lit, with balls in poor shape and grody old shoes. All of these are basic, normal, expected things. I expect cardboard pizza, mediocre lane conditions, etc. AMF Towson shocked me in just how bad it was. It took 45 minutes from walking in the door to getting our shoes and lanes. The place was NOT crowded when we arrived...but they had a long line and only one register open. The food line was just as bad, though our food arrived quickly once I was able to get to the register. Employees in the snack bar were polite, apologetic about the line, and moved quickly to get our food to us. The fries were good but avoid the pizza if you have anything but an iron gut...it was really, really bad. I don't blame the employees on this one, though, and the young woman handling pizzas was kind enough to reheat ours once my husband was finally able to sit down and eat it. Now for the horror story. The women's bathroom was completely unusable...one of the toilets was completely off the stack, one was overflowing, and the last one was clogged. When told about the condition of the bathroom (which, by this point, was stinking up the entire lobby), the employees shrugged it off. Apparently this is normal, or expected, or otherwise not out of the ordinary for them. The men's room was clean enough for use, and you'd better believe I used it. Go elsewhere. Timonium was nice enough last time we went. Rt. 40 in White Marsh is also clean enough. read more

I went on a Saturday night and eh it was bowling but nothing special after that. They were severely understaffed in their "kitchen" area. The lines took forever and the drink section didn't look particularly sanitary.. It was a little off putting that the cashier had to stop taking orders to make drinks, it made things go twice as slow. Then my food order (chicken quesadillas) took almost two hours to come out. I had to go back to the counter to remind them I ordered food. Then their "cosmic" bowling.. I don't even know where to start! Lol. The lights go low and you kinda get some neon lights, a few of the balls glow in the dark and every 10 mins or so they play music.. At one point a song was skipping and they continued to let the song "stutter" though more than half of it. They seriously need to re think their weekend staffing plan and update their cosmic bowling.. If they did it could be a solid alley.. Otherwise If your just looking for a place to throw some balls at some pins, then this is it. read more

What's with all of the bad reviews I've seen on google? This place is just fine. It's a bowling alley, you know. I suppose if you're a hardcore bowler who wants pristine, perfectly oiled lanes, and accurate scoring, you might have a few complaints. However, for the rest of us who want to bowl a few games with friends while enjoying a few fried snacks and strong drinks from the snack bar, Towson Lanes is a fine spot. Yes, we did have a computer scoring error or two. And yes, as a long-time league bowler I have bowled on better maintained lanes. The staff was friendly, especially the bartender in the snack bar area, and my friends and I had a great evening. Well, most of us had a great evening. My wife is still angry about the computer giving me a strike when I left the 10 pin standing. I beat her that game. Oh well. read more

Change of management here - Christina is an absolute SWEETHEART. Sweet Husband Mine and I met her long ago when she was running the Timonium location, and she had that one running like clockwork, so she'll no doubt soon have this place running the same way. This location is popular with the Towson U students, so it's well used, but it also offers a choice between ten-pin and duckpin, which is good for variety. Granted, this location is old, yes, and it needs a bit of work, but that's why Christina is there - to get it back up to speed, and I have no doubt she'll do a fabulous job. As for food quality - it's bowling alley food, what do you expect, the Ritz Carlton? If you want fancy-pants food with fancy-pants prices, go to Mustang Alley, for Pete's sake. This is AMF, home of pretzels and beer and pizza. Sheesh. By the way, they DO sell beer, so I don't know where some of these reviewers are getting their information from. Hell, they sell beer by the PITCHER. I've seen plenty of people partake in that beer, believe me. With time, this place will be just as good - if not better - than the other alleys around town. I booked a birthday party for my child and 15 friends for November 6, 2021. selected the all-star option: 2 hrs bowling, two entree (pizza and hamburger sliders) and 2 sides (fries and fruit platter) with unlimited soft drinks and cookie cake. we were booked from 7-9PM. There seems to be lack of communication between the sales office which takes your money and the bowling alley. the bowling alley was crowded and clearly was understaffed and overbooked. there was no reserved tables or chairs for us when we got to the bowling alley. We had three lanes. There was one table and 4 chairs free when we arrived. we were later able to secure another table nearby. this left 8 children without place to sit. they had to sit on the floor. The food was not delivered to us until 830PM. We were given the fruit platter and soft drinks at 745PM. Once the food was delivered the kids had to stand up and eat, as i mentioned before the bowling alley did not reserve tables or chairs for my party. The pizza was inedible. I do not think the white substance on top can be legally called cheese. We never received our cookie cake even though we asked several times for it. We were not given sufficient utensils for the food. We constantly had to go to the short-staffed concession stand to get items that should have been delivered. The manager gave us an extra 30 minutes of bowling to compensate but that time was lost while the kids ate. I reached out to the sales rep, Kelly Miles she never responded. I reached out to corporate and was told someone would get back to me. Kelly called and I recounted my experience. She said her manager approved a 20% refund and vouchers to use at any AMF. I received the vouchers and 10% refund. I emailed Kelly again. asking why I did not receive the 20% as promised. I am still waiting to hear from her. I place the blame on AMF sales office. They are only interested in selling you party package and it is clear there is lack of communication between the establishment and the sales office. I would not recommend making arrangements for events at AMF Lanes. read more

Good and bad. We arrived on a medium busy Saturday afternoon to use a Groupon. A tournament was underway on the ten pin side so we opted for duck pins. We were quickly greeted by the staff and checked in quickly. With most of the duck pin lanes open, we were put on a lane right next to other bowlers. This was a huge negative for me. When most lanes are open it would make more sense in my opinion to spread people out at least every other lane unless the groups are together. The shoes seemed clean enough but the balls were so dirty they felt grimy and left our hands black. The lane worked just fine. The snack bar staff was not as friendly as the counter staff but they were okay. The medium soda was $4!! I realize businesses need to make money but with no outside food and beverages allowed this is excessive to charge for a soda. Other than the balls seeming a little grungy the place was relatively clean including the bathrooms. read more

I have just returned to bowling after a long absence and doing it during the pandemic was something I thought about. However, I arrived at 3PM which is generally opening time and I have been the only duck pin bowler on both of my visits, so those fears were avoided. The lanes have been clean, but they definitely require maintenance; pin setter drops pins, ball returns is broken and causes balls to jam up while returning, the scoring seems to get "confused" and some of the results are doubtful. I am only practicing by myself to be healthy and these things don't bother me so much now. However, if I was to join a league, I would think about this more. I'm still going to give them a chance to improve those things and hopefully things will get better. read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday and although i had a great time with my family . The customer service sucked . The staff was rude . One of the staff members told me he couldn't help me because "he wasn't on the clock ", then i asked another staff member for help and instead of him helping me while Seeing me struggle input names for a new game in the computer he just stood there and repeated himself , the computer wasn't responding it wasn't that i wasn't following directions he was giving me and my food took 40 mins long and the staff members were rude and saw me standing at the counter and didn't ask if i needed help until i yelled "can someone help me?" If looks could kill the staff would have killed every customer there with the dirty looks they gave . Very inattentive staff , won't return and wouldn't recommend. read more

I came here for a birthday party! We all had a great time. The rating is more so for service and amenities. By the time food got to our table, it was cold. The restroom was a catastrophe. Staff weren't too helpful. Just wish someone could keep tabs on guests to make sure their needs are being met (restocking toilet paper, decent timing on food arrival, more staff to handle busy nights.) As far as bowling alleys go this particular AMF is pretty average. But the big selling point is that they offer both duckpin and 10 pin which is a nice feature. The food is terrible and the prices are ridiculously high but it's pretty easy to find a coupon. A good option if you want you want to play duckpins but don't want to venture to an old, run-down looking alley with manual scoring. But if that's a draw for you then you'd do well to just go to Parkville Lanes or Hillendale Lanes. read more

If you are looking for a good bowling alley that has great customer service and takes pride in the quality of their facility and lanes, please do yourself a favor and don't even waste your time at Towson AMF. I Bowled in a spring league with 3 man teams and every week it took us hours to finish because the lanes kept breaking down. They said the problems were user error... how can the racking system that would rack with 1 or 2 pins missing coming constantly or knock down my spare pins before I bowled, and the computer recording the score wrong be user error??? The computer system and lanes are so out of date and they clearly don't keep it them maintained. The bathrooms were freezing in the winter, no hot water, and sometimes no lights. I had hoped that these issues were a fluke as I was convinced to do a summer league there which "would be better" it was not!! We are now bowling in this large facility with no air in the 80/90/98 degree weather!! I leave the alley every week drenched! It's disgusting! And the management is horrible, they are so blasé and unbothered. I have given feedback on the lane and alley conditions on several occasions and the attitude I got basically showed that they don't care. Our league captain asked if they can compensate us somehow by at least offering us free drinks and he said "you get free water". I will not bowl here again because i just can't pay my hard earned money to bowl in a league at a bowling alley that clearly doesn't bother investing in their own facilities and doesn't care about their customers' experience? Allies that host USBC leagues should be held to some type of standard! read more

Do not bowl here We had to wait in line over 45 minutes to be told they only had duckpins & mo mens shoes from 8-11. We ordered food before we started. ( 10 minutes before ) The food line was 15 minutes. After we bowled our first game we checked on our food. They originally said 20-30 minutes. It was over 30 minutes & still mot ready. Love their $2 game deals on Tuesdays but you gotta come early to put your name on the list or you might be waiting an hour or so to get a lane. We usually come with a group so we don't mind waiting around while chatting. The facility might need a little facelift but I've never had problems with the service. The people at the front desk and also at the food counter are always pleasant and crack the occasional joke to make you feel comfortable. You have to give off good vibes to get em ;) Only problem I encountered was our lane messing up a few times on one occasion which was a headache for us to keep running up to the counter for help, but you're always going to run into technical issues at some point or another. I've only ordered the fries here before which were surprisingly good for a bowling alley. I have no qualms with this place! read more

We came here for my 6 year old's birthday. Just a small group of us. We got two lanes. They would not allow us to have a few practice throws, not even for the 4 or 6 year old. That is absurd. My shoes didn't slide when bowling. I got a second pair of shoes and they didn't slide either. A group of friends wanted to bowl so this one was the closest to us. The outside didn't look bad it wasn't busy (that should have been our first red flag). Nice place but the food is nasty the lady behind the counter didn't have gloves on when making my Nachos .The Staff is rude and they all look like they want to leave. I arrived at 9:30 and paid for unlimited games until closing but had I known that I would only bowl one and a half games, I would've just paid $12 for one game. The service was extremely slow but understandable since there was only one person taking all the food and drink orders while the manager was running back and forth between helping the two employees that were working. read more

Front desk employee was extremely rude and literally rolled his eyes at us when we came at 3:00 and he said there wouldn't be lanes until 8. We came back that night, the manager was extremely nice and she helped us with some questions we had. The bar was full of trash and I think a $16 pitcher of cheap beer is crazy. After the extremely rude manager John at Timonium AMF would not honor a gift certificate he issued himself I called corporate. Cassandra at the corporate office went above and beyond by contacting Towson AMF to set up our party. The staff at Towson AMF were very friendly and accommodating. My twin boys were celebrating their 10th birthday and had an awesome time! We are now loyal Towson customers and will not return to the Timonium location. read more

I reserved 3 lanes for 14 people in the beginning of March with Courtney in sales. The price was $344 and some change, which included shoes and 2 1/2 hours of bowling. When the first of our party got there, the staff seemed confused and wasn't sure where to put us and scrambled to find the BEO (Event Order). It seemed they were short staffed despite their statement on their website that they would add "an event fee" as they would need more staff and that "so much planning" would go into our event. They put us in lanes 21-23. 5 of our party, including myself had ill fitting shoes as they did not have the right sizes to accommodate us. After our first round, the digital display as well as the pin reset malfunctioned, causing people to be awarded strikes who had not bowled that set, depositing nine instead of ten pins on several sets, not clearing the pins at all, or just sitting there stuck. The scoreboard also would not add totals after three sets on one occasion and four on another. There were two instances of this happening. The first lasting about 15 minutes and the second about ten. I will say that the staff that did assist us were pleasant enough sans the blonde haired woman at the desk who seemed irritated that I had to address this twice on our first occurrence. I would find out as we were leaving from one of my friends on lane 22 that their display was also scoring inaccurately. Two days later Courtney in sales inquired how our experience was and I relayed this same information. She said she was sorry to hear that and would get back to me, which she never did. The only saving grace is that we were with friends and that the majority of the staff was nice. I'll find a better equipped and more professional establishment to visit next time. read more
