Alright guys, time for my honest opinion on a very nice bowling alley just off NY-25, AMF Centereach Lanes. I've been wanting to go to more bowling alleys now that Bowl LI shut down in Patchogue. I had wanted to go to Bowlero Commack with my kids and their friend, but unfortunately, it was a 45-minute wait. (Check my other review for Commack; it's a very nice alley too.) When I had called up this center for lane availability, they had a lane available, so we ran to the car and punched it to Centereach via 347, returning back to NY-25. When we went in, the lady at the front desk patiently served us on a lane on the right side. So yeah, this place's got 32 lanes of AMF 82-70s in an L-shape pattern: 16 lanes on one side, 16 lanes on the other. During my visit, the other side had some projectors and cosmic bowling going on, but I didn't have a preference. Lanes were freshly oiled and we hit a lot of pins. Also, we gotta talk about the scoring systems. The Qubica AMF EasyKeys worked like charms and they entertained us after every frame with some animations. We also got some arcade cards but we didn't use them, but maybe at a Bowlero or something we can use them. Thanks AMF! read more

I have a thing about bowling alleys that I just feel like most are gross. Went here on a whim last Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. This place was clean, the staff we encountered were all friendly and courteous, and the food was actually really good! I normally would never order food at a bowling alley due to my aforementioned feelings but it was lunchtime and I was starving. We had a chicken sandwich, pizza and chicken fingers and all were great. Fries were delicious. Not bad prices for everything either.. this experience didn't change my mind about bowling alleys but I'll consider this place an exception! read more

Yeah, I was a bowling nerd. Bowled on my high school team, bowled in leagues, have my own ball and shoes, you get the drift. I was pretty damn good too - high score awards, 1st place finishes, high series patches, etc. Was here again not too long ago for a visit and even though the place has been updated from years ago it still has the semblance of the joint I used to hang out at drinking beers, midnight bowling, and causing trouble. Still has that locals homey feel. Still has an easy layout with front desk as you walk in and lanes split in half on both sides. Compared to other bowling alley's on the island, you guys need a serious upgrade. I like the lounge area and the game room, but overall the place needs an update. If it wasn't for the groupon deal, I probably would have never stepped foot in this place. Attempted to go to the food area and order some food but there was nobody there. I headed there with a few friends around 10:30 and unfortunately we were only able to bowl a game and then were told they actually close at 11 PM. Wish we knew so we didn't get our hopes up! If I could give this place 0 starts I would. The place is functional for bowling but the service is a nightmare. The bartender was EXTREMELY unpleasant and does not know how to speak to customers. She took 10 minutes to check 4 IDs and at one point thought one of them was fake and attempted to show the ID around the bar to her "regulars." It took everything in me to bite my tongue in that moment. My friends and I are all in our late 20s and just wanted to enjoy a couple drinks while we bowled. Nothing like having a little fun and going bowling. Yes, I do own a my own bowling ball and shoes. Unfortunately I only bowl about 1 or 2 times a year. At least I save some money on shoes I had for 10 years. AMF has two sections of lanes, video games, concession stand, bar, and pool tables. Lanes are always kept up and nice. The management here is terrible. The manager is extremely rude and has no people skills what so ever. He brings his horrible attitude and acts like he is better than you. However I am giving this place 2 stars for the rest of the staff. The other staff are friendly and inviting. It is hard to get a lane as there is hardly ever anyone at the front desk and we are always looking around for someone to help us. We come here at least three times a week and the manager still acts with no courtesy and gives us the worst lanes. Their phone customer service is also unprofessional. Do not recommend if you plan on coming often. UPDATE: Been going here pretty regularly and haven't seen that one rude worker in a while. Really interesting L shaped bowling alley that makes it convenient to get to the front desk, bar and bathrooms without having to walk from one end of the alley to the other. I enjoyed bowling here on a Monday during the day, which I assume is usually dead but because I went during winter break for schools, there were a large group of adults bring their children in. This alley seems like they have a very active league schedule if the amounts of fliers for them were any indication. If I lived around here, I would totally take part in the Monday night league where a 9 is considered a strike and you get free drinks and games. Just seems like a very fun, classic bowling alley. read more

Countless nights spent here before turning 21 and after. I am really not a bowler but I definitely improved my game by playing at Centereach Lanes! You have to know when there are League Nights (which I don't) because it is ultra crowded. This place is large enough that you never really have to wait for a lane. Worst experience bowling ever. Went here with a Groupon for 2hrs of bowling. Apparently the 2hrs starts the minute you hand the coupon to the person at the desk, not at the start of your game so....we had to find balls, spent time waiting to get refreshments, spent time waiting for the pins on the lane to be fixed so there was no "2hrs of bowling". We were almost done with our game, and the lane was shut down. We went up to desk, said we would like to finish the game (my husband was working on his 4th strike with 3 more frames to go). We were told no. We said we would pay for the game, from the start, so we could finish. Pay extra and were told no. They don't do that. So unfair. Used a Groupon, same deal, in Port Jeff and they were awesome. Never going back to Centereach Bowling again. 2hrs of bowling should start at the START of your game. Should not include prep time before. Horrible experience. Think twice before you go. read more

I went 1/2/21 and had a bad experience. The only thing good was the bowling. I decided to order food and after paying found out that there was a 3% "COVID admin fee". After I asked what the COVID fee was for the lady said it was for the hand sanitizer and for the fact that they steam clean the carpets every night. So after paying this so called COVID fee for the bowling reservation, I had to pay it again when I went for food. If the fee was for cleaning and that sort of thing than why are the plastic dividers covered in dust and dirty? So we had to pay this "COVID admin fee" three times. Why couldn't we just pay the once and be done with it?Seems bogus to me. My girlfriend and I both ordered the "Lil chicken grilled" which was chicken nuggets with sauce on the side. You would think you get 5-8 nuggets or something like that- no, you get 2 skewers per order. That's insane. Also another couple in my group ordered the boneless wings with bbq sauce. They received sweet chili or another type of sauce. After they said something the same lady said that she made them herself and that it was definitely bbq sauce. The bbq sauce I got with my "grillers" and the supposed to be bbq sauce on the wings were not the same. The drinks only came put when we asked about it. That was bizarre to me too. The drinks came about 10 minutes after the food came. I had fun bowling but the service is not right. I would not recommend this alley to anyone who does not want to get ripped off with bizzare pricing and hidden fees. read more

I love this bowling alley. While it's not as updated as a few other AMF's on the Island, it's better in customer service. My family and I come here about once a week, sometimes every other week. It's less than a mile away from our house which is super convenient. It has $1 pool tables and a super homey feel. The woman who runs the kitchen is awesome too! Hard working lady. I'm writing this review specifically for the manager of the alley who's name I forgot (sorry guy). A few weeks ago we purchased a groupon for bowling and didn't realize the groupon said we had to wait 24 hrs to use it. My daughter was heart broken because we had been saying all day we were going bowling. I called the alley and asked if there was a way around this and the manager went out of his way to make sure we went bowling that night. He said "if the groupon doesn't show up in our system tonight, I will still let you bowl, and I will input the groupon when it shows up". He made my little girls night and I thank him for that! read more

WORST experience ever! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night. When we walked in, more than half of the lanes were open.. and now we know why. We paid $39 to bowl from 930pm-12am. Every time we threw a ball, the ball got stuck and would never come back. The first time I went to the guy he apologized and sent someone back there, then the next frame it happened again.. so I went back up there and the cashier said "he's back there fixing it". Finally the balls come back after waiting for 20 minutes... But it kept happening for 6 frames in a row and every time we waited about 20 minutes just to get our ball back. Finally after the 6th time we decided it was time to go home. We told the two guys behind the desk about how frustrating it is to pay $39 and spend most of that time just sitting around waiting. So then he offered to switch our lane.. LOL a little too late?? It's 11pm already, we just wasted 1.5 hours doing NOTHING. They apologized and said "well there's nothing else I can do." Plenty of other bowling areas around that are cheaper and much more updated. read more

The experience was terrible. I mean really really terrible. Firstly, last Saturday, we bought tickets for two games but only played one. They gave us a free game coupon for today's game. The fact was that when we came by today, they charged us for shoes which I thought should be payed last Saturday. Secondly, the guide on me machine was terrible. We were 10 people on two lanes. But there are 12 games shown on the screen. No clear explanation on what to do with the last two games, whether to skip it, to leave it there, or can we play the two for free as a bonus? No staff helps you out on how to do it. As the staff explained in the final minutes there, we were not the first group of people having this terrible issue. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. We were stopped and resumed several times, and we finished our game without any pleasure. What I saw were sorrow and unhappiness on our faces. What brought to us a little bit relief was that before we left, the staff names Mike came to explain to us what had happened and gave us 10 free games with shoes excluded. Whether this kind of kindness came from there truly apology or something was still a question. read more

AMF lanes is simply amazing. I go bowling with a close friend on there discount weekdays. I never leave unhappy. I recently lost my wallet there and they found it and held it for me. I had $100 cash and not a single dollar was missing. They're very clean and friendly. I highly recommend coming here. read more
