I didnt like the casino and be honest the pictures were very nice in compare to reality. You cant win money in this Casino specially that its not that much busy...it was our first time here and i was waiting for our welcome discounts or vouchers but they didn't offer anything! read more

I want to give this place and the majority of the staff 5 stars...but let me tell you Francisco the nighttime teller was extremely unpleasant and lacked in every aspect of customer service. My partner and I are spending a few nights here. We were checked in promptly and with a warm welcome. The first night we tried buying a coke from the vending machine on our floor 31. First coke came out and the top was covered in mold. Don't get me wrong all cans are a little gross but this had straight up mold. Figured it could just be one. Second one was the same. Went downstairs to tell Francisco about the mold in the machine and his response was "here's your dollar back". That's cool and all thanks for the refund but mold is a health code violation. He should've seemed a little more concerned. Day two: Woke up to no coffee basket in room. Bummer went downstairs, got some Starbucks problem solved. Went to the front desk to inquire about spa services. Farah (I think that was her name) was super helpful and gave me some discounts to head up to the 9th floor where Ara is located. The hot stone massage and services were absolutely everything I wanted for this trip. Back to room. Coke trip round two. Decide to head to a different floor...maybe it was the machine. It wasn't the coke was covered in mold again. Irritated we went downstairs. Francisco was at the front desk and offered us a dollar and told us not to use the same machine. We explained that we didn't and we were pretty upset. He said "I told my manager. We don't own the machines. Don't use it again" I tried to explain that having mold is unacceptable. This is a machine in your establishment. Put an "out of order" sign on it! He didn't seem to care. Not one sorry, not one "how can I make it right?". Seems like the guy could really give a crap less about customer service or his customers well being. Went back upstairs to check another machine and found another coke with mold! At this point I'm not even mad about the mold. I'm upset with the way I was treated, spoke down to and disregarded. read more

Absolutely awful AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We arrive to check in and they had GIVEN AWAY OUR ROOM!!! Two other parties had the same issue after us and the customer service reps were condescending and didn't offer to help in any way. Then, to top it all off, they lost our car at valet for over an hour and a half. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. read more

The bad: 1. Assigned the wrong room/given a bad key 2. No shampoo, no conditioner 3. Food left in the room from the previous guest on the nightstand 4. Stain on room chair, right where someone's b-hole would leak - GROSS, clean it or throw the chair out. 5. Beverage machines in the casino are inoperable, asked a security guard, he said they are brand new. 6. Food overpriced and not great 7. Casino machines are getting old and tired, especially the videopoker machines - broken buttons, sticky machines 8. Charge a 'resort fee' for what I'm not sure, only one hot tub is operable IT'S REALLY DIRTY, pool out of service, outside hot tubs out of service 9. Ice machine on our floor didn't work 10. Room towels stored under the bathroom sink were wet, the sink must be leaking on them - GROSS The good: 1. Security lady found an item that I had lost and thanked me for coming back to get it. read more

The first room we checked into was ok. My husband went to get ice and the machine was broken. He had to go to another floor to get some when he returned there was an overwhelming smell of some type of wax smoke in the hallway. He is extremely allergic to it. We immediately went to change rooms and they accommodated us but when we went to have dinner at the restaurant he felt extremely ill. Ruined our first night and then they wouldn't accommodate us another day. The front desk was nice but the hotel isn't the best. Weird people and weird smells. Also only buffet on the weekends which we were not there for. We had to go and eat somewhere else. Will not return here again. read more

There are so many choices of hotels in Blackhawk, Do NOT choose to stay here. The bed is broken. After trying to fall asleep for three hours I went to the front desk and they would not put me in another room. They expected me to wake everyone up, we are here with our daughter, and move all of our belongings out before letting me have a different room. It is four in the morning! Over the past 20 years we have stayed here a bunch of times and I cannot believe the total lack of customer service. DO NOT stay here because they won't take care of making it a restful experience. read more

Stayed for our anniversary last Friday. Room was clean. Very nice. all of the furniture was nicked, beat up, and looked like it was purchased from the Goodwill. Bathroom was clean and tiled. Tried to contact both the front desk and housekeeping to send up a couple of extra pillows, but no one would answer their extensions from our room after multiple tries. Timberline grill was good for service, however took over an hour to get our dinner (crab legs) which was obviously just thawed (very cold & fishy smelling) even though the portion was generous. Slots were very tight. Went to other casinos to gamble where we found looser slots and gaming. Overall, this was our first time staying at the Ameristar. Have stayed at other comparable casinos (Horseshoe) for much less $$$). Better to eat at Gilpin for a hot dinner for less than $300. No one at the Ameristar seemed to care, nor could you find anyone to express your issue to. First impressions are paramount Ameristar! read more

Ameristar, all I can say about this place is, it's amazing!! If you find yourself bored on a Friday/Saturday night, then you should definitely come here with family or friends. The casino is fantastic on a Saturday night, the energy is great. My wife and I recently came here and it was one of the best Saturday nights we've had in a while. The casino is also jam packed on a Saturday night, just like Caesar's Palace in LV. Don't miss out on visiting Ameristar, you won't regret it :) read more

Ameristar Black Hawk - Love the buffalo game!! - Casinos Near Me - Black Hawk, Colorado

I was recently invited by Ameristar to a private event which included a discounted stay at the hotel, a meal at Timberline grill and a poker lesson. They delivered on all of it!! Not only was the staff welcoming and accommodating, the meal at Timberline grill was DELICIOUS!! The menu they created for our event was perfect and I loved hearing about where the food comes from and how it's prepared. The wine served with the meal was delicious and perfectly curated. The poker lesson was fun and our table man Caleb was very patient, humorous and down to earth. They even gave the winner at each table a free night stay! Our stay in the hotel itself was very nice as the room was clean, bathroom was huge and the bed was firm but not altogether uncomfortable. Seriously, this was the most wonderful event and you can see the photos of the delicious food attached. Thank you for the lovely experience Ameristar. read more

Steer clear of this place. To get a player's card we stood in line with 15 other people, to be assisted by a single stressed out associate. She had to not only deal with the people in line, but then drop everything for the VIPs that got to use the shorter line. There were 7 stations at the desk but only one employee. Now to the Waypost grill.... I originally ordered a chicken club salad. After paying I was told oh we are out of that. I then picked chicken tacos. To their credit the meat was well seasoned...however apparently the kitchen does not have knives to chop cilantro...see pic below. My spouse ordered a chicken salad sandwich and somehow they 'lost his order'. He waited for 10 minutes for his sandwich while the kitchen put out food for people that ordered after we did. Haven't tried the gaming yet but my expectations are really low. read more

Sucks for food after 11:00 pm. NO FOOD. What is this? Definitely not Vegas .. Go to Monarch! Way better. Honestly...

What a terrible place. It is not kept up. The bartender was rude to me, said I wasn't playing enough and I had to pay. I'd been playing all day. When I talked to management they said it was their policy to be rude to customers whenever they wanted. So I'm never going back. Plenty of other casinos nearby that treat customer's with respect. Don't go to Ameristar, unless you like being treated like crap. read more

The rooms are clean and comfortable. The casino is clean and if you go on a weekday quiet too. They have several different restaurants and a pool. I didn't go to the pool to many kids. I did go to the casino and restaurants they were great. Central City is nearby it's very nostalgic. read more

We went to play here yesterday. Getting a Player's Club card would have taken at least an hour. I figured okay, well I'll go grab a couple drinks and we'll see if this line moves at all. Bartender said he could only serve one drink per person every 20 minutes. (An Ameristar policy or Blackhawk? I don't know.) So, so much for that. Things are looking dingy, like they haven't been updated since they opened. Still looks like people were having fun playing, so I'll give at least 2 stars, but there are way better options in Blackhawk now. read more

As of July 24 I still have not heard from management. Emails kicked backed. Calls not returned. I opened a case with my credit card company and they took time to reply to that! If you have health issues DO NOT stay at this hotel. Going without air conditioning and the REFUSAL to send someone to fix it caused me to have a huge flare. I am honestly shocked at the poor customer service. With the exception of Ameila, who tried to get me in contact with management. Sadly, nobody has reached out. I really wanted to give this place another chance, but it's off the table now. Many family members use this hotel, but won't anymore. Communication is all that was needed read more

Since Ameristar was bought by the Penn Corporation it has gone straight downhill. Their food service is limited. They took away all points during the lockdown when people could not get there to keep up points. We were knocked back to the bottom tier. The amenities are poor. We went to the Timberline to celebrate our anniversary Sunday night and it was an absolutely terrible experience. We left without ever getting our food. The waiter was rude, forgot to put our order in and was unapologetic. I would not recommend this casino/hotel. There are newer, better hotel/casinos in Blackhawk. read more

Fantastic stay as usual! This evening, Jessica Y. and Dezart S. we're so helpful and accommodating at the front desk!

This place used to be awesome but ever since 2020 it's been going downhill. No more buffet, it's always dirty, barely enough waitresses to help cover drinks on floor, most of the staff is friendly but not enough to cover need. The wifi is constantly out or bad, the options for food are limited- you either go to an expensive amazing dinner or you go to the worst diner west of the Mississippi aka the fireside kitchen. The Way Post offers some I good options but quality is just so poor. This entire casino used to be amazing and now it's just a total mess. read more

lengthy post Dear Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk, Our weekend started with arriving at your resort and checking into our room, dropping off our bags and going to play. The way most weekends do when we stay here. We returned to our room around 8:45 pm to discover our keys didn't work. We went to the front desk only to be told our original room was "in need of repair" (which it was not 4 hours prior). We got a temp key to retrieve our belongings and issued a room on the floor below. To the new room we went, inserted the key, and walked in to find the room occupied by a female. Can you imagine being her? Unacceptable. Back to the front desk. I was met by a less than decent human who would not let me complete a sentence and went in the back room. She came out and informed us she comped the resort fees and issued us a $100 room and resort credit. Well, ok. We were exhausted by this point, so to the new room. The new room! Yes! The heater was cranked to what felt like 100* and only took until around 1 am to be decent. Saturday, we go about our day and visited several other casinos in the area. On our shuttle ride back to Ameristar, the driver asked us to get off at a much further southern destination, as he needed a break, and proceeded to inform us in a raised voice that he "isn't a damn robot and deserves a break". Ok not your shuttle but part of the weekend. After finally making it back to the resort, we went for our reservations for my husbands birthday dinner. We were seated and got our bread and drinks, only to be met by a winded hostess at the Timberline Grill asking us to move tables, as she has a larger party coming in later. Par for the course and the weekend it seems.... Dinner wound up being fantastic and the waitstaff was good after hearing what we had already been through. Feeling better about the remainder of the weekend. We went to the Fireside Kitchen for brunch around 9:30 am on Sunday, 2/20. Placed our order and waited. About an hour later, we informed our food would be out shortly and one meal would be comped. When the food came out a half hour later, my omelette was not done and runny. The rest was merely decent, but hey we got all meals and drinks comped. I've never felt more like a second class citizen in a hotel we used to love to visit. But hey thanks for the $100 comp and resort fees. One more night left and we can go home. No plans on returning anywhere in the near future, when we used to come 2 or more times a year. I can't wait to try the newer casino and resort as they appear to have their act together.... Clearly the 20ish year mark is where everything falls apart for your organization. Thanks for making my husbands birthday weekend getaway a disaster...ok not a disaster but a complete and utter laughing matter. read more

Ameristar by far offers the most complete package in Blackhawk amongst its numerous competitors: 1) They treat their VIP guests well, enticing them to come back and spend more. Free slot play, cash back, Gold Star Lounge access, room stays, etc. are just a few of many things offered. 2) The recently built hotel well thought out and reasonably priced per night. 3) The Ara Spa* is most unique offering hydrotherapy in addition to the various spa treatments. 4) Fully equipped fitness center, pool, and two hot tubs areas. 5) Texas hold'em poker offered with large Bad Beat jackpots available all the time. 6) Pizza at the Waypost, always a great late night snack. 7) Even non-VIPers can rack up decent points to get some grub on a regular day. The last few visits have been excellent and I would like to thank the staff for being so accommodating. If you do have access to the Gold Star lounge, do the PRIME RIB on a Saturday night, it's so good. ________________________ My review of Ara Spa: http://www.yelp.com/biz/ara-spa-black-hawk?hrid=woGD8H6FfcY7KJLsiCI63A read more

I believe there is only one mountain pine room per floor so you get to enjoy peace and quiet not having neighbors. It is approx 1200sq ft with plenty of room to host your own party if you wanted! Tables, sofas, living area, fridge, very large wet bar, guest bathroom aside from the on-suite master bath. This doesn't include the bedroom, jacuzzi in the master bedroom, comfortable king bed, large tv, massive bathroom and sitting area within the bedroom. Everything was nice and clean, well placed, and spacious. The living area has a large couch and two seat high top as well as a breakfast table. There is a massive wet bar with plenty of space to put food. There is a Keurig but when we came there was no coffee and only one travel cup. I requested for some when I arranged for turn down service, no one ever came. I called and they brought some but the coffee condiments are very sparse. The bathroom is massive! Beautiful shower, makeup area and separated water closet. There is a jacuzzi in the bedroom which I highly recommend using to relax after all of those winnings you'll bring back! The casino area is nice, the bartenders are very friendly and one was happy to replace my drink with something else when I didn't like the first one I ordered. With them being free drinks, expect that. Absolute, Jameson, etc are well spirits. We played blackjack for a while and all of the dealers were wonderful! I was lucky that it was just myself and my husband for a while because although I know the basics, I am not adept enough at the intricacies to want to play in a big group. Unfortunately, an incredibly intoxicated man joined us and really put the kibosh on the fun. I could tell they'd been keeping an eye on him and sounded like he had been in trouble before. Through tour playing, a few people had come and gone because of this man. We finally did the same and left as well. I tell this story as a kudos for how well the dealers put up with him all night. The pit bosses were aware of him which was nice too. read more

This hotel room was dirty, and the wait time to be checked in was ridiculously long. I realize that guests are bound to encounter these circumstances however for the amount of time traveled and the cost associated its enough to opt not to stay here upon future travel and accommodation arrangements. There's also four wonderful restaurants and a Starbucks coffeehouse. This is the place to be in Black Hawk. By the way, Black Hawk, the "City of Mills," is one of Colorado's oldest cities. Do not eat here!! The service is terrible. Yes it was Thanksgiving day mid afternoon. I understand labor shortage. The "hamburger" that I ordered was ok nothing unusual. I was not offered anything to drink so I assumed there was a self-service fountain. WRONG! I went to the front desk to ask where I could get some water. The "manager" was there and he rudely said I have to go to the casino floor. Then I asked could I have some bottled water to ear with my meal. He then said since I didn't order it with my meal it was cost you!! Well fine I finished my meal and went to the casino fountain for water. Guess what NO ice or cups!! I will never step foot in this casino! A lot of slot machines but hardly anybody was playing. Terrible choice of slot machines........ read more

Ameristar has to be the best with accommodations and gambling in BlackHawk. *Convenient from Hwy 119. Unlike neighboring hotels, one can drive right into the parking garage for quick and easy valet (as opposed to driving in circles...) *Clean! From the hotel rooms to the casino floor and restrooms! *Fun environment with DJs on Friday's and Saturday's. Patrons will find a way to cinvert the bar area into a mini dance floor (hey...makes for great people watching) *Friendly staff. Reception, Housekeeping, Bar staff, Restaurant servers...everyone loves their job and it shows. IMO, I think Ameristar has the best options and the best tables. $10/min on most tables (in the evening) and dealers are helpful to explain the different betting options. BTW, rewards are paid based in how long you play and not how much you pay. Good to know!!! read more

I want to like this Ameristar in terms of their lodging but these were my concerns : * The housekeeping knocked and opened our doors at 8:30am of March 23rd 2012, even with knocking but thankfully I ledge the door the night before. * The supposedly 2 "QUEEN" Beds in our room is actually the SIZE OF A "BIG TWIN" each, so I feel with 4 ladies, 2 on each bed can be slightly "tiny" for my sleeping needs. * The coffee mugs available in the rooms should have at least 4 instead the 2 they provide, but at least they have disposable ones available in the room. Here was what I like about Ameristar SERVICES, ROOMS, Lodging and facilities. * When checkin the staff who took our reservation is from Sri Lankan is indeed vey funny, accommodating and inviting. * We opt for the room facing the so call view of a mountain. Picture will follow in my review. * With the "rooftop" indoor swimming pool, and indoor jacuzzi, and outdoor jacuzzi, I like though I feel the outdoor jacuzzi, can be crowded during almost closing time but all is cool. I dont gamble at all, so I just go for the slot machines since this trip was a girls get away from the period of THURSDAY-SATURDAY of March 22nd 2012 till March 24th 2012. At the Casino itself, during certain times, those ladies aka SERVERS who provide services to take order of your drinks, can appear and disappear when you need them especially if you need drinks or water but when you really need THEM aka the Servers, they arent to be found.. But there is an area where water, soda, coffee and tea dispenser is provided maybe sufficient, just make sure, you fill up your disposable cups if needed to be. During my stay there with the ladies, I feel like there are a couple of families at least the ones who are in the level rooms we are staying bring along their kids i.e LEVEL 6. Hmm, arent sure why the kids are there to begin with, but oh well... Perhaps during that time, are the Spring Break time or something... Ooh and not forgetting the covered multi-story parking spaces aka THE PARKING GARAGE. Driving round and round, level by level can sometimes make me DIZZY... so just be warned coz the directions up and down can be slightly tricky... As with security, I can understand the need to "tag" and ask for your ID every single day, so, make sure you bring your ID around or at least, wear those "paper bracelet" ID on your wrists during your trip at Ameristar. Above anything else, I dont mind returning if needed to be mainly NOT to gamble but just to stay away for the weekend and MORE on the FOOD, in my following review. @52/2012 read more

First visit to Blackhawk decided to stay at Ameristar with my friends for a girls night. They were celebrating Chinese New Year in which the lobby had been decorated. We were able to check into our room early. The room had a very nice view of the mountains. We saw a pack of wild animals playing in the trees which was very cool. Unfortunately our room was not a 5 star rooms Another guest had tapped decorations to the window and parts of the decor was still attached to the window when we arrived. There was a patch of carpet missing from in front of the bed. In addition the room had not been dusted in ages. This was reflected on the table lamps and the phone. Most hotels room have a brochure to tell you about the hotels amenities and even local attraction. We weren't able to locate these in our room. The bathroom was amazing. Big soaker tub and glass shower. The hotel offers adult pool hours from 9pm-11pm. It was packed with families during the day times hours. The spa fills up pretty quickly so be sure to make and appointment. In terms of the casino area, I found it annoying that every time we entered we had to show ID and have put purses checked. It seems as though some sort of wrist band should be offer so that guest would be required to just show their band instead of pulling out ID. I would consider staying here again. It for $300 a night I expect better from the room. read more

I'm am so unbelievably disappointed and quite frankly pissed with this place! Disgusting, dirty rooms, rude staff no standard for hygiene! I booked a room and was extremely patient with the staff. I understand that there is a lot going on, and there are a lot of other guests to handle. But I had a terrible experience here. I was moved rooms 3 separate times and was beyond irritated by the end. Mind you, I never once raised my voice or was rude to the "manager" or the other girl working the check in desk. The first room I got the toilet was clogged and had poop in it. So I tried calling downstairs and was on hold for about 15 minutes so I decided to just walk down stairs and talk to the front desk. The lady told me if I could wait 10 minutes she would send someone up. I waited about 15 again and while I was waiting I decided I would make a cup of coffee. This was spoiled because the coffee maker and it's area were stained with coffee and riddled with sugar. There was a mysterious throw up dried stain on the floor. So I went back downstairs to see if I could get a new room, the front desk told me there were none available, I stated okay; well I'm not going to stay in a dirty room. So they then found me another. Fine. I go to this room and the coffee machine is the same, the sheets are dirty with black and orange stains (I'll insert pictures). So I grab my stuff and go right back downstairs. I tell the lady, I'm sorry I don't want to seem like I'm complaining but this is crazy, and I proceeded to show her pictures of the bedding and coffee machine. (I didn't think to take pictures of the first room) she gives me a third room. Fine. At this point I'm tired, I just want to settle, and now I'm a little paranoid. We pull the sheets back on the third bedroom. They're clean. Flip the pillows to make sure; and low and behold there is a pillow with a blood stain on it. So I grab the pillow and my stuff. And head right back downstairs I meet the "manager" at the elevators in the lobby and I tell her so......there is a blood stain on this pillow and show her. She looks at me and rudely replies "okay, well I have no other rooms to give you. You didn't even wait for maintenance to get to your first room." I said "yes because there were other issues with that room, there is a dried mystery goo on the carpet, the coffee machine is disgusting." She interrupted me and stated "but you called because the toilet was clogged." I said "yes , but there were other issues with this room." I was okay with moving around but there is apparently no standard for cleanliness. I asked for a refund and she issued me one back to my card. However, now I have to wait for the hold and money to be given back to me. Afterwards an individual in my party went back to the check in and asked for the corporate number, the same "manager" was rude and told this person to google it. They stated they were not leaving without the number, she gave it. But guess what? It was not a real number. Therefore, all I can say is. These rooms are far to expensive for their "imaginary standard" of hygiene and cleanliness especially in a pandemic. Also if you get heather at the front desk run. Update, I have since spoke with the GM and the head of housekeeping and they were very nice and understanding, they have also offered to make it right. read more

I don't know what's up with the older gentleman that was working the late night shift and why he felt it was ok to add two names ahead of us on the waitlist. Nice stay. Everything was clean, except saw a small/faded red stain on the white bedding - kinda grossed me out but everything else in our group was tip top so this may have been just a mistake. Hotel is good, like any other popular casino. Very clean. The pool and hot tub were nice but closes at a certain time (11PM I think?). Casino staff was okay, a little rude to my friend at the table, constantly checking ID's even though we had 21+ wrist bands. Decent and average drinks, free coffee/beverage stations. We missed the buffet, closed today for some reason so we had the cafe for dinner and another pizza/deli place later that night. Decent prices and the cafe was just regular, fried, bar like food. Had gumbo and jambalaya though which were really good. We were prbly one of the youngest groups there, so we were drinking and getting a bit loud but it wasn't a problem. Sleepy place, everyone has a poker face and is concentrating on winning money, no one really is in party mode or wants to talk to you.
