I have used K Carpet for many, many years. I've known Mike Kanam for a long time and always was a…read moreloyal customer. Up until 6 years ago, I had always dealt with Mike. Never a problem. I have purchased a lot from this company. The last two times I've had to deal with Duke and I must say he sure doesn't act like he gives a darn. This time he was really rude. When I went to look at the carpet he starts pulling big sample boards down with one hand because he had something in his other hand and couldn't be bothered or interested enough to put it down. He didn't even try to help with which carpet would be the best for my needs. I should have walked out. But, dummy me went ahead and picked one. I told him that a couple of the rooms of carpet I bought from him 6 years ago had matted terribly so I hoped he would take that into consideration for pricing since I would be replacing one of those rooms plus the living room and dining room that they put down before. When he came to measure he looked at the matted carpet and said NOTHING. He could care less. When my carpet came in and the guys showed up to put it down, they asked if I was told this job would take 1.5 days and I said no, but that's OK. But they never left til after 6pm. They were tired having been here since early morning. I asked why they stayed and finished and I was told well, they have to be somewhere else the next day. So, the next day I'm looking over everything and sweeping and discover that the metal strip that goes across the bathroom doorway to cover where the carpet meets the vinyl tile wasn't put back, it was laying under the vanity. Understandable that it got missed, it was a long day. But I also noticed that the edge of 2 of the tiles had been chipped. I just paid a large sum of money to have that whole bathroom remodeled in the last year. I wasn't going to raise a big ruckus about it because the strip would cover it and probably be ok. I was probably being nicer about it than I should have been. But, the strip needs to be put back to protect the edge of those tiles. I sure don't want them chipping worse. I went to see Duke that day. I told him what I needed & he just stands there with a look like "Why are you bothering me." He said he'd get ahold of them to come and take care of it. Well, 8 days later I had to go back to the store since you can't get anybody to answer the phone. This time Mike was there. What a difference! Nice, welcoming smile and asks what he can help me with. I tell him what's going on and he said he'd get Duke. Mike comes back around the corner and says Duke will send them over to take care of it. Duke had been within ear shot of my conversation with Mike. He didn't have the courtesy to even come out and speak to me. No apology, nothing. Well, that was Wednesday morning and this is Friday evening. Haven't seen or heard from anybody. So, what do you think? My years of loyalty and spending my money with K Carpet are over. I guess I'll be going somewhere else to get the other 2 bedrooms, kitchen & master bath done.

Two weeks later I messaged him to get an update and he had no recollection of coming out at all. After reminding him of the address and the work needed, he apologized and said he would get back to me later that evening. After waiting another week I once again reached out to him to see if I might've missed or inadvertently deleted an email from him. NOTHING He completely ghosted me. I understand being busy and things slipping through the cracks, but a little common courtesy would at least dictate a response, even if he didn't want the job.

Guy came out and gave a quote with zero details but higher than what that job was. My wife called to complain as we are not getting wooden posts or painting and less lights. The guy said he had "mis-calculated last job". She told him that considering they have been doing this for YEARS how did he "miscalculate" and where are the details on what lights they would use - warranty etc. especially since all we are asking for is basic light hanging. His response was that "they were a company with 5 star reviews and he didn't need to do our job since she was asking for details". Who in their right mind thinks quoting their reviews is reason enough for people to not ask questions about materials or warranty?? The REAL explanation would be that he came to my house and decided we could afford more so he quoted higher. News to blue grass - I will be telling everyone I know about how they are!! Definitely NEVER calling them again!
