On Monday. 12/16, called customer service in Ohio, who said not sure if the Oxnard office works over the weekend or not. My delivery is now scheduled for 12/16. Spoke with 5 different people in Kenya about an undated letter arriving in my PO Box this week to remove me from automatic shipments after 17 years with no reason given. So, having between 10-20 gallons of propane I had to ask for 24 hour delivery. It is 300 dollars for 24 hour delivery on the "will call," which is now my designation without any notice. I called the resolution department (in Kenya) and was on hold for 1 hour and they hung up. Unable to sign up for an online account because Amerigas has my X-husband's old e-mail on the account. I called to update it, they said they would, and actually have not so far. It is impossible, it seems, to get in contact with a human to rectify this unfairness. What has happened to this company? They tout customer service while taking as much money from you as they can. They take the money up front!!! They want a credit check after 17 years and I have always paid my bill on time. These people are criminals. My family and I have been without propane for 2 weeks now, we cannot cook or do laundry or take a hot shower. We have spent HOURS on the phone without answers as to why our propane has not arrived, and we already paid $500. They said it would be here a week ago and it has still not arrived. This is the most pathetic inept company I have ever experienced, in particular the Westlake office manager, Buddy, who brings new meaning to the word "incompetent." The driver caused property damage and Buddy hasn't responded to the many phone calls and emails to reimburse us. Instead, we get late fines on our bill for subtracting the cost of the damage. After 22 years, we are doing what all our neighbors have already done and cancelling our service with Amerigas and switching to Expo Propane. We ordered propane online 9 days ago from Amerigas using their guidelines for timely delivery. We had weather in the 20's with high winds. We completely ran out 4 days ago and called but were told we weren't eligible for an emergency delivery as we had already placed an order. Today we were told we were 13th in line for delivery and they were on #6 at 10am. At 4 pm we called and told they were still enroute to deliver to us. No delivery.....we depend on propane for heat water and cooking. We didn't change because we're in escrow closing February 9th I'm appalled it's considered a private company and not a utility and that they can get away with treating people like this and no governing board. If you'd like terrible service just contact this company, they are using old fashion gauge and it is really easy to play with it and make it look like it is full, we have a smaller tank at our home that just burnt down that would last us about three months for about $400, but at this rental we are at , with a slightly bigger tank it only lasted a month and we called two weeks ago, still don't have any propane, can't use the heater in the house and we are taking two minute showers and jumping out as fast as possible. RIPOFF ALERT - BUYER BEWARE They have good service and get you filled up. Here is why they get one star: When I fill my car with gas I expect to pay a price per gallon that is within market. The same applies to when I buy a gallon of milk. The same should apply with propane. After many years of service, I realized that they have billed me many thousands of dollars at a rate of just under $5.00 a gallon for propane. Propane costs approximately 2.30-2.50 a gallon on the open market as I write this. The feeling of being blatantly ripped off compelled me to write this and alert others. They are going to be losing a large amount of business from their pricing practices with no opportunity to get it back. My business has been working with this company for over a year until they apparently got sold to a larger company. Now, even though I "allegedly" have scheduled deliveries, they frequently don't deliver at all. When you call to inquire about it, you get frequently "dropped" by their customer service team and have to spend multiple hours on the phone dealing with their poor customer service team Just to get the delivery that they originally promised they would provide. Then, when they promise they will call back to discuss their service, they don't. We have been Amerigas customers for many years, but our propane tank is almost empty and we have been trying to get it filled for almost a week now, which is ridiculous! We are on the Auto-Fill program, but almost every year we run out during the coldest weather. Today is Monday; last Wednesday my husband went online to request a delivery and was happy to see that it was supposedly already scheduled. When the truck didn't come, he placed a request on the website, sent an email AND called the office, all to no avail. We are wearing extra layers and doing without showers and laundry, but when he called first thing this morning was told that the truck found our driveway blocked (untrue), and that tomorrow would be the earliest possible delivery unless we paid a ridiculous emergency fee, which we have no intention of doing because this is NOT OUR FAULT! I've been a customer for 17 years. The service has been good, and all the service people were very helpful, the few times I did run out of gas they came out quickly. Because of that I was not paying very much attention to the prices I was paying. Due to a discussion on "Nextdoor" I took a look at my last bill. Oh my God! They were charging me $4.69 per gallon for my last fill. The bill was over $1100. I called around and the competitors were charging between $2.40 and a little over $3/gallon. Furious I called them, and they apologized and offered to match the $2.40 price...with a two-year contract! I trusted them to charge me a reasonable price even if it might be a little bit over the competition, but instead they chose to gouged be charging almost 100% over the competition. Needless to say I've canceled my service with them, And gone with AAA Propane. They're offering $2.40 without a contract. They say it does fluctuate somewhat but based on what people say has stayed in the mid-two dollar for range the last year. Edit: just got topped off by AAA for The first time, $2.25 per gallon. I signed up for automatic refills and ran out of propane four times (after being promised it would NEVER happen again after the first, second, and third times)--my tank always seemed to run out on weekends or at night when the office was closed, and they never called back when I left a voice message. Each time I ended up calling the national office and then waiting for hours (usually having to miss work) waiting for the delivery. For the last three deliveries they have drastically overcharged me--when I call to have them check my bill (that is, when someone actually answers the phone) they admit their mistake and adjust the charges, only to repeat the same mistake the next time. If I hadn't called each time I get a bill I would have paid hundreds of extra dollars in erroneous charges. A week ago I called and asked to have my gas turned off since I was moving, and they still haven't read the tank and sent me a final invoice. I stopped by my former house yesterday and the gas is still on, heating the water tank. I've called and left messages and of course no one calls back--and they're only open Mon-Fri from 9 to 4. Good luck getting someone on the phone if you have a regular job and can't make phone calls during those hours. If you have a choice of ANY other propane company, go with them (I had no choice at my previous address--the tank was already on the property). Stay away from this company unless you want endless hassle when things go wrong! I leased a large propane tank (320gal) from AmeriGas. After my home burned to the ground in the Woolsey Fire, the tank needed to be removed and it leaked propane for 6 months. I called multiple times every month for both problems. They sent a technician out several times telling me the leak had been fixed, only for the smell of leaking propane to remain. SEVEN months after the fire, the leak was finally fixed. Then came the problem of having the tank removed which was AmeriGas's property. They sent inspectors out and after saying it would be removed (for 6 months) they decided in month 7 that 'it is impossible to remove the tank because they did not have the equipment (a crane) to remove it safely". So I suggested they either rent a crane or hire a contractor to do the job but they refused saying that it was my responsibility to do so ( my responsibility to pay for removing their leased tank!!) Because the damaged tank is holding up the sale of my property, I was forced to pay a crane operator who stated the job was "fairly easy" and the tank was removed. I anticipate them taking another 6 months to come pick it up from my driveway! I should also mention that AmeriGas continued to bill me for propane refills made after my home had burned to the ground. Stay away from this company. If this is how they treat a wildfire survivor who lost everything they owned - just imagine how they'll treat you! read more

They have a great price per gallon of propane, but that's where it ends. It is very difficult to get propane from them at the Oxnard location. I work for a company that rents travel trailers and we use apx. 1,200 gallons a year, but 50% of the time I stop in for gas they are closed up. So I end up going to their competitor. read more
