And they did not refund the price of the fuel already in the tank, that my sister in-law paid for. So that's the kind of people you'll be dealing with if you deal with Suburban Propane. Just thought you should know. I wish I could give them a negative number.

He walked us through everything we needed to know, answered every question (no matter how small), and took the time to make sure we felt confident and safe in our decisions. There were a few hiccups along the way--none of which were his fault--and yet Harry stepped up every single time with grace and integrity. Whether it was helping to coordinate service, explaining technical details in plain English, or just following up to make sure everything went smoothly, Harry was there. It is kinda small, cramped, harder to come in and out. But it's convenient and since distances are so big within the park, it's great to have it around, as a peace of mind. The second is the Furnace Creek Service Station Chevron sign which shows the highest point in gasoline prices in the Western Hemisphere. Normally $5.56 per gallon gasoline prices would raise somebody's temperature over and above the recorded 134 degree high in Death Valley. Here is an example of the extremity of their fuel prices. On March 28, 2013 The Tribune talked over San Luis Obispo County having the most expensive gas in California. Their average is $4.27 per gallon. That is over a $1 less than the price shown on the Furnace Creek Chevron sign. Fortunately we filled up in Pahrump, and laughed this off as a joke. The laugh factor of the high gasoline prices at Furnace Creek Service Station are the equivalent of the high calories at the Heart Attack Grill. They might as well promote it in souveneirs that say something like "I survived the highest gas prices." Normally I would reward highway robbery (my perception) with one star. There are a couple of reasons I am rating it two stars. Having a gas station in the noman's land that is Death Valley is the better option of no gas station. The gas price sign makes a good picture. In hindsight I could of stood in front of it for a temporary profile picture. I also like a joke. Some things are so obnoxious I take it as a joke. Whenever I return to Death Valley I will fill up the fuel tank in Pahrump, Nevada or Baker California. If I fill up the fuel tank in Death Valley, the joke will be on me.

Though it appeared the owners, were quite active in regards to getting the location to run smoothly. Some hiccups included the pumps, and even diesel at the time. Diesel for example was out of order, and on another visit, pumping at a very very very very low rate (essentially out of service). Some noticeable yet disappointing visual construction yikes include poorly installed veener on the pillars near the pumps. I'm not sure who they hired to do that, but there was some noticeable low grade work done. On a positive note, it's the closest gas station to lytle creek, upon entrance and exit - though to keep the market competitive, just a little south more competition stations exist. So assuming you aren't on e, perhaps look at the cost of the other stations so that you could get the best value for your money. What makes this location unique is the many pumps (assuming they're all function upon your visit) the quick hot food available, liquor, and also presence where limited supply is in general serving the immediate neighborhood. I firmly believe that this location has potential - and I'm confident they can adjust as needed to stay competitive. I'll be sure to revise my review as more trips allow :)

I had to go badly so I checked to see if men's restroom was open and it was opened. I locked the door real quick since I'm only woman in there. Nobody was in there--I checked. But next thing I know, I felt there was a loud bang and I opened the door, there was an angry India man screamed at me. He needed Jesus. He was very mean and rude I'd ever seen. While I wasn't in a rush, this could be frustrating for those with limited time. Additionally, I had to carry my own tanks after parking, whereas the truck before me was able to be closer to the fill up station and no need to carry anything. This review is based solely on this experience. They also wrote the amount of propane after he cleared the counter which I can't remember what the actual amount was and it got me thinking if I was actually charge correctly: Just the whole experience was off. On a good note they do have candy inside when you pay and credit is available option.

After the light came on, I switched my car's display to the gas computer and watched the "range" tick down while I drove past nothing but sagebrush, rock and dust. I started to get a little nervous when the "range" indicator dropped below 10 miles... then 5 miles... and I still hadn't seen signs of this little oasis in the desert. Had I miscalculated? Would this be the time I lose at my silly little gamble and run out of gas? I knew from past experience that I could make it at least another 5 miles after the "range" calculation hit zero, so I had a little bit of padding. Still no lights in the distance, which was a little troubling. Then I popped up over a rise and there it was *whew*. Two miles to spare. I've dropped by here several times now for fuel, snacks, drinks and so on and have always been happy with the service.

I called & left message on Sunday evening, and by Monday morning (on a Holiday no less), Harry called me and told me they'd be out the very next day to refill my tank (which was Tuesday). However, nobody showed and I was a little concerned, so I called & left a message on Tuesday evening and first thing Wednesday morning, Harry called to apologize and also let me know that our RV park had given him the wrong space number (which I confirmed as true, so it was not their fault - it was my own RV park who made the mistake). Harry was gracious enough to schedule me for a special delivery (on a Wednesday), as they normally only service my park on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sure enough, James arrived with his propane truck & took care of business, and the price of the fuel was exactly the amount I expected. Oh really cause we just missed work sitting here waiting for the propane delivery and you're just casually gonna say oh we'll just come tomorrow it doesn't work that way you need to make appointments with people. I just missed out on a days of work for nothing and you guys are gonna show up tomorrow and nobody's gonna be here because you didn't even let me know you were gonna show up tomorrow. Whoever is in charge of this office needs to be fired. You don't come into a small town and treat people like this. Inquired about getting propane for our brand new pool at our brand new house on June 4. Nobody called us till June 19 to schedule an appointment because they missed calling us back to schedule the appointment. We get scheduled for June 25. They only schedule site survey appointments during our work hours.! We take off work only for them to no-show on us. Our appointment was at 1:30. We called them at 3:30 and they acted like it was no big deal. They no showed on a first time future client. they were only interested in scheduling us a future day again for us to take off work again. No sorry or let us see if we can find a convenient time so you don't miss work.
