Even worse, although we fully paid the contractor, he failed to pay multiple suppliers involved in the job -- including both the concrete supplier and the gate supplier leaving us dealing with payment disputes afterward. There poured and laid concrete broke after 5 days. The professionalism was extremely poor. Communication was inconsistent, timelines were not honored, and the overall quality of work was unacceptable. The concrete started developing cracks within the first week, which clearly reflects poor workmanship and lack of proper preparation and finishing. They also failed to properly wash and glaze/seal the concrete after completion. Overall, this was a very stressful and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable or honest work. Please do your research and stay away.

But if they sell you an item that THEY took out of the box and have had on display, they want you to pay full price while claiming the item is still "new." We placed an order over the weekend for about $4,000 and were told it would be ready to pick up by Monday. I got there around 12, and the order wasn't ready. Not a big deal--we waited. Then we found out that one of the items included in our order was the display fridge. We told them we wanted a brand-new fridge in a box. The employee kept stating that they "just took it out of the box," but in reality, that fridge has been sitting there on display for a long time. We asked for either a boxed fridge or a refund. The employee did not hesitate to state, "I will meet you at the front and give you your refund," without even trying to offer another alternative or find a solution. There were no customer service skills from the employees or Buster, the manager. The situation escalated pretty quickly, and Buster very rudely kept telling me to stop talking instead of trying to handle the situation professionally and understand why we were upset. We have been doing business with Chef Toys for a very long time, but today they lost a customer because of Buster and the way this situation was handled. I do want to acknowledge and thank the Director of Sales. He understood the situation and very calmly tried to find a solution. Unfortunately, by that point, it was already too late. He showed the professionalism and customer service that we should have received from the beginning. He should be hired as the manager instead.

For the 2nd visit in March 2026, unfortunately the company did not meet the same standard. We communicated via the same number, so they were aware of that we were interested in the same work as before last year (weed removing, trimming of tree shrub) This time, a different employee (H.H.), performed the work. He trimmed the trees and shrubs a bit more quickly than Francisco did, which was not an issue in itself. However, he didn't remove the overgrown roots, but rather just trimmed them, which caused the plants to grow back much faster than before. He also didn't apply any weed killer. After we paid via Zelle, we noticed that our 24-hr security sign had been snapped in half and left on the same spot it was planted. No shrubs were around that area. The employee didn't mention to us at all, but when we asked him what happened, he initially said he didn't know. Only after we saw pictures showing that the sign was intact, he apologized. Additionally, another blue security sign next to our AT&T fiber box was missing. The sign had been in place for months and was clearly visible from the driveway since the shrubs didn't fully cover it. The worker claimed he never saw it. We understand accidents can happen, but the lack of communication and transparency is unfortunate. We are likely moving on to another company.

I walked in to the store again and WOW they have done a HUGE remodel it looks beautiful! I talked to Chad and he honored the same pricing that he gave me 3 months prior back. Obviously they don't BS their pricing. Chad offered me professional installation but I'm more of a DIY type if person so I did it myself. He gave me an installation guide and showed me several pictures of installations done by home owners which no other company did. Ever since I can remember I've wanted a putting green in my backyard so I can practice before demolishing everyone on the course. I looked around places like Home Depot and Lowe's but then then I came to Artificial Grass Liquidators and I was able to find the same artificial grass for half the cost; I don't know how they do it! Our original plan included the front yard, backyard, and curbside. After discussing our budget, we decided to complete only the front and backyard for now and save the curbside for later. What really impressed us was that Phillip told us he would honor the same quoted price whenever we're ready to finish the curbside. I've honestly never had a business make that kind of commitment, and it speaks volumes about his integrity and customer-first approach. The installation crew of three was outstanding. They were professional, hardworking, and incredibly friendly throughout the project. We have a young son who was fascinated watching them work every day. The crew was so kind and patient with him that he ended up becoming their biggest fan--he kept bringing them water, snacks, and even ice cream each day because he enjoyed having them around so much! The finished turf looks amazing, and we're very happy with the quality of the work. If you're looking for a company that's honest, fairly priced, does excellent work, and genuinely cares about its customers, I highly recommend Phillip and his team. We'll definitely be calling him back when we're ready to complete the curbside.

Phillip even nudged us towards a different turf product and we are so happy we went with his suggestion because it's so soft and our kids love it! Phillip even went way above and beyond- we have old turf in our front yard that was installed 10 to 15 years ago, and he cleaned/brushed it when I didn't even ask him to do that and now our front yard looks amazing too! My wife and I have a new-build that required additional landscaping of our backyard. We eventually decided to go with California Outdoor Living after reading all their positive reviews on yelp. In addition their quote was very competitive if not the best when looking at other contractors. We already had a design in mind for JC which made the process very quick. Although there was some misunderstanding with the design and drains throughout the process, JC was always responsive with his texts and quick to make adjustments. The moment we got our design approved by our HOA, the construction happened VERY FAST. We emailed California Outdoor living on a Wednesday evening of our approval. The very next day (Thursday), JC arrived to go over the outline. I do appreciate how fast things were done, but it was almost to a fault at times. They were ready to go by the next day but my wife and I didn't feel like we had discussed the plan and execution thoroughly enough. On Friday the construction workers were already digging out our backyard. They spoke only Spanish so communication was very difficult to ensure if our plan was executed appropriately. By Saturday all of the pavers were laid out. Construction was incredibly fast but because of that some details were lost in translation. We discussed with JC that we wanted an 11x14 ft paver island. However the final dimensions was 12.5 x 12.5 feet. We also wanted all the walls of our backyard to be lined with turf. However the paver border ran too close to one of the walls, that putting turf did not make sense. They only left 1 inch between the wall and the paver (see attached image). We appreciate how fast the work was done. The overall work was great BUT not exactly what we wanted. We felt rushed with the whole construction process. However everything was done in less than a week which was incredible! In addition, once the turf was laid out JC noted that window reflections from both our neighbors and our own windows would cause damage to the turf. He informed us this can happen sometimes. Going back to rushing things and not being thorough, we wished JC took the time to look at our backyard and factor in this possibility. If we had known the reflections could damage this area we would have changed our turf design. At the end of the day they are just executing our design, but it's these minor things that left us feeling like our backyard could have been better. However we are still very thrilled with the overall speed and communication done throughout the process! Would still recommend this company. But these small critiques are definitely something to keep in mind for future clients.

I would not recommend this company. Their lack of attention to detail made the entire experience…read moreunpleasant. The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.

After meeting with three competitors and making an abundance of changes, we finally signed with Billie and Rock N Block because they were the most responsive and had the best understanding of our vision. At the end of May, Pablo, our project manager, and his crew began our project. Billie checked in on our progress twice during the installation, which impressed me because sales reps are usually never seen after the contract is signed. As the project progressed, Pablo and his crew were very responsive in listening to our changes to ensure our vision came to life. His crew members Moises and Juan did a fantastic job installing the turf with a natural edge where the turf and stone meet! Rock N Block, Billie, Pablo and his crew met and exceeded our expectations! I know this because we have received several compliments from our neighbors, and many have asked for Rock N Block and Billie's information.

He was great at explaining the work he was going to do which involved completely redoing the lawn irrigaiton and replacing our garden irrigation with drip irrigation. We also added controllers with timers and after talking with Zach upgraded to the ones with the app. A couple of weeks after the work was done, Zach stopped by to check on how the plants were doing and made adjustments to the watering schedule.
