Let me just say that I got at least 5 quotes and I ended up choosing ATD for a few reasons. First, The owner Chad was super great to work with. He was able to come to my house and give me a quote in the rain and install it before a birthday party that we had at our house. He gave me some ideas that at first I didn't think I would be able to incorporate based on previous quotes I had. Second, the quote was better than all of the others ones that I received. All 5 companies I asked for a quote said that they didn't do repairs, American Turf Depot included. So I was very surprised when I received a message two days ago asking if I had found anyone as they may have a solution for me. I couldn't believe that he remembered my request two months later! So Chad came out yesterday to give me a quote to repair a good sized area of my turf that had been damaged/cut when I had to have emergency repairs to my main water line and sewer drains. Well Chad and his crew came today and leveled the area, relaid the base layer, reinstalled my turf then power brushed new infill into the turf. As I have turf in both my front and back yards, they power brushed the back too. All I can say it it looks amazingly beautiful! After getting three quotes from artificial turf companies, I decided to check out AGL. We popped into their store and showroom on a Saturday and were helped right away. There were samples to choose from and the whole process is explained. The quotes I had received from turf companies to do the work ranged from $5000-7000.00, a one to two day job. David at AGL talked us through all of the steps of installing it ourselves. We ended up spending a weekend doing it ourselves and we spent less than $1000.00. It's not hard to lay your own turf, it's not complicated but it is yard work. So there's a fair amount of time and grime involved. If you aren't afraid of a little sweat, DIY is a great money saver! With David's suggestions, we ordered the pet friendly turf, it has a breathable backing which allows for better pet fluids to be drained away. And he suggested we opt out of the weed barrier underneath since they tend to retain smells. Instead our road gravel base is very thick 4-5 inches and will do the trick. Our little dog potty area ended up working out great with no need for the severely overpriced professionals. read more

I was in search of a small remnant or scrap piece of artificial turf to purchase to cover a backyard planter that the neighborhood cats turned into a litterbox (and one that my son likes to play in). I first tried Home Depot and they only sold large rolls of turf, so I figured my best bet would be to contact artificial turf retailers. The first two companies I contacted were less than helpful (my search started on proximity to my office so I could run there after work). I realize my sale would be miniscule, but surely these companies have scraps from bigger jobs?! My third call was to Artificial Grass Liquidators and the woman who answered the phone was so nice and helpful. She said to come by when I am available and they would be more than happy to show me what they have. I raced there after work and walked in about 8 minutes before closing. I was cheerfully greeted by Chad who gave me the same high level of service as a big spender would expect, even after hearing that I was only interested in buying a scrap piece of turf. I never felt blown off or rushed considering it was closing time. Chad showed me some different turf options to get an idea of what I wanted and went to the back to see what he could find. He came out with the perfect square of turf! I can only imagine that if service is that great on such a small scale project that it must be exceptionally awesome for large projects. The prices are by far less than you'd find at Petsmart or Petco, for the outdoor potty area. Previously Jorge was a huge help and hooked me up with the exact measurement cut of the grass needed. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. We went there to purchase turf for our front lawn. Prior to purchasing the $4700.00 artificial turf, they told me they had the type I wanted in stock and it would be delivered to their Woodland Hills store within 2-21/2 weeks. We had a rebate from LADWP that was nearing the end of the timeline to finish the project, due to the fact that we calculated that we would have enough time to receive and install the grass, I call LADWP for a 4 day extension and they knew that. Well, over 2 weeks later, I get a call from the store stating that the manufacturer was backed up and they had not even put my order into production yet - that was AFTER telling me that they had it in stock. They told me that they would sell me another type that was similar at a discounted price. It was no where as nice as what we purchased. I wanted what I had paid for. I asked them for a specific amount of time needed to process and ship our order so that I could try to extend our rebate deadline once again. I was told possibly another two weeks or so. In the meantime, our landscapers had already done all the work to lay out the artificial turf which had dried out by end the of the 21/2 week period. When the grass finally arrived, we asked for a hand with getting it delivered to our house since we were out of time. They told us it wasn't their problem, yet we paid for the shipping from Georgia to Woodland Hills. Why couldn't they drop it off at our house then? We had to pay another $200 to have it delivered from their store which is 10 minutes away. On top of it all, the grass was NOT the same grass that we ordered!!! We were at the end of the rebate deadline and in order to save our rebate, we had to install it. Our landscape guys pointed it out to us and it was apparent that it wasn't the same color from our sample at all. We called AGL and they said it was the same grass. It was obvious that it wasn't. All our neighbors came over and knew that it wasn't a match to our sample. Our problem was, we had NO time left with our rebate to consider returning it, we didn't have a choice anymore and AGL knew that. All they said was, we will come pick up the grass if you don't like it. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? They didn't offer an apology nor a credit on the shipping or even for the wrong GRASS, nothing. We also had to pay another $300 to reseal the composite in order to lay down the turf since it had dried out. We ended up paying more than we ever expected, went through a lot of stress and still waiting to see what kind of Customer Service this company has to offer. Never have a seen a company conduct business like this, what happened to pleasing a disgruntled customer especially when none of this was the customer's fault. I wanted to like this company, I stuck it through to the end and waited for the grass. Shame on me for having faith in Cody and Greg. read more

Chad was wonderful. Didn't try to upsell me when I came in asking for the most economical turf; he simply made certain that I was aware of both the up and down sides to buying low-end. One of the issues with the least expensive is that it has been used, often in sports fields, and has marks on it (lines, numbers, etc); something that won't necessarily work in all situations. But since I'm placing my turf under the house, in crawl space, it is perfect. In fact, because it's used, it has softened up a lot, and my knees will appreciate that, while crawling! Plus, they offer green spray paint to hide the marks. I haven't yet installed it so I can't comment on how well the paint blends yet; regardless, I don't think I'd use the eco-grass for a front yard or somewhere on display. Instead, I'd definitely move up to their more premium options, of which they had a good selection. Chad, Jake and Veronica were tops. I LOVED working with this company! MARISSA is AMAZING! I walked in the door with only a general idea of what I wanted, and by the time I left I felt totally comfortable. I was buying artificial grass for my backyard (and it HAD to be pet friendly). She explained all the differences in what types and thicknesses I was looking at; and the different infills (Yes, you need a specific infill for pets...) it was great. She also recommended contractors to come do bids for installation. Marissa was very accommodating and communicated so quickly and efficiently about everything. During the install, I had a minor hick-up with the delivery and one phone call to her fixed everything! If only every company cared about their clients as much as AGL!
