I worked all summer making faux rocks from cardboard, & reclaiming wood from around my apt complex, with the goal of it running by my Oct birthday. It was Memorial day and we arrived 10 minutes before they were to close. They were extremely helpful in finding the right stone for our budget. As I knew we were in a time crunch I selected the first stone I found and when it was ready to be loaded the driver asked us-- "Do you realize this will be about $450?" We hadn't done the math! So he directed us to the cheaper stuff -- even though by now it was well past closing time. The owner helped me find the right size and for only around $30 for the same amount. And when we left they handed us 2 bottles of chilled water! It was a very good experience and I recommend American Stone to everyone! read more

1st of all I would like to say now I see why all of the other contractors and business owners I know have told me to stay away from American stone they're all about the money and not about helping local businesses succeed. I have been going to American stone for years now and getting my rock and rock products from them because for a contractor the prices were fair. For years now I have been getting the contractor rate for boulders at 3 cents a pound which is an ok price for being close and convenient. I went in there today loaded my trailer full of boulders for a job and they told me it was 6 cents a pound I replied and said no I pay 3 cents a pound I'm a contractor keep in mind I'm using my business credit card in my business truck and business trailer but the highly educated lady behind the counter told me she didn't have proof that I was a business and that I needed to bring her proof. When I initially started going there they told me they needed a copy of my business license I told them I didn't have it on me and they proceeded to tell me that's OK will look your business up on the Internet and get everything we need. So for years now I never had a problem until today. Keep in mind 3 cents a pound compared to 6 cents a pound doubles my cost as a contractor. I don't know if I will ever go to American stone again but I know one thing I will never refer them to anybody and I will also let freinds family contractors and other businesses know that they need to find a better stone and rock place to go to. read more
