Sadly, this has become the worst moving experience I've had in over 30yrs. PLEASE stay far away from this unreliable outfit! What started out as a very genuine conversation with Shawn Kayden back in mid-March 2019, has now become a moving nightmare. Worst of all, after dozens of phone calls and emails to Shawn and American Relocation Services, NO ONE is responding to the mess they created. We contracted through Shawn to have a 2 bedroom apartment packed and moved from Pittsburg, PA to Houston, TX. We detailed every piece of furniture, room by room and then Shawn insisted sending out someone from his team of experienced professionals to come by and walk through the apartment and physically and visually review the entire contents. Great, deposit paid willingly. Little did we know who was going to show up to facilitate the move. One month later, April 24th, 2019 Dimitri and his band of Russians walked into our apartment and within 5-mins without looking at anything demanded that the quote was wrong and it was now going to cost $1,500 dollars more, sight unseen?! That's right! I called Shawn and explained the situation to him and he spoke to Dimitri and then Shawn said to me, "Let them pack you out, and I will handle it afterward." Famous last words. Then for the next 3hrs, while Dimitri and his crew packed out the apartment, every hour on the hour Dimitri came to me and said, "I know you are mad at me, BUT here's why it costs $1500 more." Including, that they had driven ALL the way from NJ?! Not sure why that was or became my problem. He also said that both Shawn Kayden and his experienced representative that actually walked through the entire apartment did not know what they were talking about! Once they were in fact done and ready to finalize the bill, Dimitri demanded we tip the crew. When I gave him the tips, $25 each, he said it wasn't enough and demanded more?! It is now the end of June and we have had NO CONTACT back fro American Relocation Services or Shawn Kayden and are awaiting delivery of our furniture in hopes it arrives undamaged. We entirely expect to be accosted by the same ugly crew and fleeced for yet more money! PLEASE DO NOT ENGAGE OR CONTRACT AMERICAN RELOCATION SERVICES OUT OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA! Simply put, this place is a con. If you aren't prepared to provide them with an iron-clad, irrevocable, legally executed agreement then they will find a way to screw you. My retired parents paid for a move requiring a truck to accommodate 2400 cubic feet. These thieves took the money and subbed the job to a few guys with a 1300 cubic foot truck. The movers themselves have been great. This group and this Management is nothing less than a ripoff, and their responses here are every bit as dishonest. DO NOT HIRE!! This company is a scam. They quote you a low amount to get your business and than double it once they pick up your stuff. I was quoted $2900 for my move from Chicago to Houston and was charged $6500. They kept my items hostage until I agreed to pay them $6500. The agent that gave me the initial "binding estimate" stopped taking my calls or replying to my text. I sent multiple emails to the support emails and never got a response. They really deserve 0 stars but Yelp hasn't given us that liberty yet. I have filled a complaint against this company with the Department of Transportation so hopefully they can stop scamming people. read more

Pay attention these one star reviews, especially those that reference Shawn and his poor communication. Our experience was almost identical to some of those listed here. The paperwork my retired parents were provided indicated 2400 cubic square feet, while the movers were provided paperwork indicating 1300 cubic square feet. This estimate was even AFTER someone from ARS, came to visually inventory the home, quoting 2400 cubic square feet. We have pictures and copies to prove it. The move ended up costing thousands more than anticipated, not to mention my parents had to go rent a U-haul to move the items (from AZ to TX) that would not fit in the truck because of the error on the part of ARS. The movers were great, but American Relo Services was an absolute joke/scam. Shawn operates with self serving motives; my parents have countless unanswered emails, phone calls, and text messages. They were literally begging for help/assistance....and nothing, no response from Shawn. Please save yourself the headache and use another company, seeing my retired parents taken advantage of in this way, has been both heartbreaking and infuriating. read more

They used Brightline Van Lines to move my property from Doral, Florida to Mebane, North Carolina on two trips, with half the property June 22 and the rest on June 25th after we adamantly complained. They negligently damaged the property excessively and significantly. They put a hole in the head rest of a King Bed-Tommy Bahama model with replacement value of $4500 which we have since 1998. They lost 14 boxes with personal property. They damaged a 55" TV and destroyed a bookcase. The crew that picked up were led by a con artist named Avi Rotem. read more

Worse company ever. They quote you then subcontract You out to US moving company and they tripled the price. Was told by ARS needed 1/2 down which was done. But now that US moving company triple price they won't release until they get more money. Was told the amount to have at delivery. Only will take cash or money order. Well money orders only go to $1000. So was quoted $2000 and now price went to $6000. All scams. read more

I have never felt the need to post anything negative about anyone, but I feel I must tell you that you need to find another service besides American Relocation Services! Not only was their quote way off, but their communication was absolutely terrible. They had our stuff, God only knows where, for over a month. I called daily, to get an update on when and where our livelihood was... I either didn't get a response, or the one I got was short and extremely rude. Please listen to all the bad reviews!! This company is a scam. They promise "white glove treatment" and Shane Roberts said he would work with me every step of the way. They sent an in house estimator and upped my quote.I thought it was fair and it seemed accurate. The estimator saw all our stuff, we had most of it packed. They won't give you an exact moving date until a few days before. They are only middlemen and sell your job to some other no name company. They sent a truck way too small, were rough with my furniture and left a mess in our rental house. They also left tons of stuff behind such as two bicycles, a kitchen table, bookcase etc...I had to paid to have it junked. The "movers" still have our stuff somewhere and won't deliver until we pay more money. Oh, and expect to pay in cash when the movers show up!!! Moving is stressful enough, it's such a shame that companies are out there to make it more miserable and steal your money! And once you pay your money to Shane Roberts, good luck ever trying to contact him again. He has totally ghosted us. read more

WARNING !!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY . They are a complete scam . You will be ripped off or scammed. BEWARE they use different names like SILVER STAR MOVERS because of all the bad reviews an complaints . (But all money is paid out to American Relocation Services). Here is my experience first hand : To start I had a very persistent broker from Silver Star movers that told me nothing but lies just to get a 1100 dollar deposit . He told me they were rated number one with the BBB , that was complete lie there reviews with the BBB was some of thee worst I've ever seen. So he quoted me at 2300 for a one bedroom apartment with all my items listed. When the movers finally get there (3days late !!!) They tell my brother (who was at pick up location ) that we used to much room an there will be an up charge. They give u 2 lines on a truck ,which they know no one bedroom apartment would ever fit. So the quote is bullshit . But I actually had less than what was listed because my family picked up a few things (Tvs ,kitchen ,and few boxes) . They charged me double anyway !!!!! So we went from 2300 to 4300 . They told me this after they loaded up the truck .. so after arguing an complaining an talking to several people for days they take off 600 bucks . Me with no choice gave up an said ok just bring my things ( after they got my funiture they held it and demanded more money !!). So after I sent them another check ,they scheduled my delivery. Driver finally pulls up a month later an asked to be paid double again from what I owed on delivery . After another hour we come to an agreement with me giving in again an paying 300 extra dollars because of what they say was a typo ... after unloading my items I was horrified. They ruined everything. Nothing was wrapped. The white glove treatmeant I payed for didn't happen at all. My mattress had to be thrown out it was so bad(4K mattress) Artwork broken. My fireplace tv stand is missing. All of my boxes was busted and picked thru. So many missing items including my daughter piggy bank which was hidden at the bottom of a box . But was missing upon delivery. . After I called an talk with a manager,who was very rude an not willing to be accountable at all. An had the feel like she was blaming me or acting as if I did something wrong. Then she told me they will only reinburse me for .60 cent a pound !!!!!!! So to put that in perspective if my bed weighs 100 pounds they will give me 60 bucks for destroying it !! My experience with American Relocation Services was the absolute WORST experience I've ever had with a "business". They are complete scammers & my representative Shane Roberts was ABSOLUTELY unprofessional, rude, shady, a liar, & ridiculously disrespectful. So first, Shane told me that the company was going to do a walkthrough of my apartment before the move to assess how much furniture I had but no one ever reached out to me about it. Eventually, I called to schedule it & Shane said the walkthrough wasn't guaranteed or needed so it wasn't happening. Okay.. Fast forward to the day before my scheduled move, no one has reached out to me to check in or confirm what time they were coming & Shane hasn't been answering my calls for the last couple of days so I called customer service. They assured me that someone would be there the next morning for my move & that the actual movers would be reaching out to me by the end of the day. At the end of the day when no mover called me, I called customer service again & someone (who had a strange high-pitched voice like a woman but sounded suspiciously like Shane) was very rude to me, told me to stop calling customer service, said that someone would be at my apartment tomorrow, then hung up on me. The next day, the scheduled day of my move, STILL no mover has called me to confirm that they were coming so I began blowing up Shane & customer service. Shane, of course, didn't answer & customer service didn't answer until about my 15th call. The person that answered (the same strange high-pitched voiced "lady" that sounded like Shane) went completely OFF on me & said that no one was coming for my move & to stop calling because they were no longer going to answer my calls. She (or Shane) said that my move couldn't happen because they never completed the walkthrough..... the walkthrough that I attempted to schedule several times & was told wasn't needed.. & that my move would happen in a few days after they did a video walkthrough. I told them that I could not do the move later because I had a flight out to my new location the next day & my job was waiting on me. The person continued to rudely interrupt me while I was talking, shouting "No! No! No!" & then said "What do you want me to do, put a rocket ship in the sky. We're not coming today."... I asked for the name of the person I was talking to (even though I was pretty sure at this point that it was Shane) & they said their name was Ronald McDonad... A customer service representative who just yelled & disrespected me because they could not complete a service I'd already paid them thousands to do just told me that his or her name was Ronald McDonald. I heard people laugh in the background of their line & I said I wanted a refund since they were breaking their contract & being belligerent & disrespectful. & they told me that I was not going to get my money back & hung up on me. So I'm not going to give a penny to a company like that or let them take any of my belongings anywhere so I went through my credit card company to dispute the charges, then I had to go through the process of changing my flights, my job start time at my new location, & finding a last-minute company to move me across the country. After I began going through the dispute, the real Shane started blowing up my phone, after I couldn't get in contact with him through his cell # in days & I texted him to stop calling me (which he ignored) then I blocked his #. He then called me from a random # with a different high-pitched voice saying he was Shane's manager, Maria, & told me how I was being unreasonable & wont win my credit card dispute - which I did - then hung up on me for the 3rd time. I could go on & on about the atrocities I experienced with this company. DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME OF YOUR MONEY OR TRUST THEM WITH YOUR BELONGINGS. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!! A Complete "Bait and Switch" operation! I really want to give ZERO stars. They quote you a low price, then when the movers actually come LATE and deliver even LATER they do not respond to you anymore and the moving company then charge you an extra $100s or even $1000s due to overage of cubic feet (which you are definitely going to have no matter how exact the item list is you give to American Relocation). The moving company will then hold your items "HOSTAGE" until you pay them CASH! I'M TELLING YOU TO STAY AWAY. American Relocation Services is a Broker company and once they get your $5-600.00 deposit, they are no longer involved, wont' respond to emails or telephone calls and you have no control over who your moving company is, and the moving company do not respond either. My movers did not arrive with my furniture until AFTER 6 WEEKS from an already late pickup where American Relocation said in their "binding agreement (joke!) it would be 1-10 days. Filed COMPLAINT with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (Their DOT Number is 3180335). PLEASE take my advice and read the other reviews, my experience was exactly the same as theirs. The worst decision I have made is to use American Relocation Services for my long distance moving. I know that it is always risky to work with broker for long-distance relocation, but turns out ARS is pretty bad at it. They will sub-contract your work to any company without caring the service standard and quality. So all the things described by the sales rep is pointless. It has nothing to do with what you get. For us, it turns out the moving company who is handling our moving is a really bad one with 2 star review on yelp. They delayed my delivery for 2 weeks late than expected (took them over a month in total) and my furniture was not taken good care during the transition. Two of my drawers were scratched, one shelf was broken, all boxes are dis-shaped and several of them got mold in it. The delivery company charged $300 more cause they are a subcontract for the moving company... I have no reason to give them the money, but when you have all furnitures in their truck and you have waited long enough, you have no choice. With all these, ARS is not responding to me or helping me solve the problem. The minute they got the prepaid money, they are gone. I hope no one will suffer what I got for my bad decision working with ARS. And stay away with the moving company MoveOn as well. read more

I hired this company to move my family and I from California to Colorado. When I started the process in April Richard Gibson was more than excited to help. We talked to him several time to get the quote for our move and at that time we were happy with it. Well we fast forward June 13, this was the day the mover showed up. We were told that the quote we received was incorrect and if we wanted everything moved it would be an additional $2500. We were at a loss, our furniture was packed sitting in our drive way and the movers would touch it until I agreed to pay the additional amount. Because of this we had to leave several items behind. If we would have taken these items it would have cost us even more. So this nightmare was over, at least that's what we thought. Now it been two weeks and we have not heard anything about our furniture. We called and after several attempts w final talked to a dispatcher with Moving-On ( sub contractor) and we were told our furniture was still in California waiting to be picked up by a driver. We were told it could take up to two weeks for the stuff to show but now we're being told we have to wait up to another two weeks. I feel we have been taken advantage of and trapped and had to pay the extra $2500. I will be contacting the BBB and a lawyer to see if there is anything I can do. If you are moving pleas, please stay far away from this company. They will cheat and lie to you. read more
