Pleasant Blood Donation Experience! Arrived for an 8:30 appointment and was helped right away. Nicole and Alexis provided friendly and professional customer service. The facility is clean and well maintained. Definitely found my new permanent blood donation location!

It's been awhile since I donated & I'm so glad I came. When choosing where to donate I selected this location thinking it was another location in Fullerton I've been to. Apparently the last location closed & this location is new. Apparently 3 months it has been open. Anyways I'm rating a 5 star because Lisa was just amazing. Shout out to Lisa :) In my personal experience I've donated about 10+ 15+ times. I'm not sure I don't keep track but anyways by far out of all my experiences in donating blood this has been the best one so far. I highly encourage my fellow Yelpers to think about donating. The need of donor blood is always there. I take great pride & feel so good after donating. To know my donation has a possibility of helping others really motivates me to keep on donating. Aside from feeling good about myself there are health benefits in donating as well. Before you donate you are given a mini physical which includes checking your blood pressure, pulse, & hemoglobin. You'll also get STI testing as well. Now to those that don't have a clue about why this is done, it's simple before your blood can actually be utilized by someone else they first make sure you don't have infectious diseases. Another awesome fact is that you'll get an email notification when your blood is actually used & the location it's used at. I've attached a few of the emails I've received as proof. I do however use the Red Cross App, I'm not sure if they only send this email alert to those on the app on that I'm not sure. I encourage you all to donate. I have a loved one that when they were alive needed donor blood, that has only fueled me to keep on donating because you just never know when someone you love will need it or you for that matter. It's also the patriotic thing to do in my opinion. Lord knows our military has needed donor blood, law enforcement, etc you name it. Be a hero & donate you'll feel good inside & get treated to some snacks afterwards

The woman not in scrubs began my blood draw process while the woman in scrubs went to the restroom. She inserted the needle- did not tell me that she was going to insert, no "take a big breath in", "you'll feel a slight prick", etc. She inserted the needle and did not hit a vein, she proceeded to move the needle around in my arm which caused a lot of discomfort. I winced multiple times. The woman in scrubs came out of the restroom and the other woman immediately asked her to reposition the needle that was in my arm. She then continues to move the needle around in my arm until it hits something VERY painful. I yelped and she then said she would take it out. She was in the middle of pulling out the needle, I'm wincing and expressing extreme discomfort, and the girl not in scrubs asks me to confirm my date of birth. I understand needing the information but it did not feel like an appropriate time. The vein in my right elbow is positioned sideways and the woman in scrubs said she did not feel comfortable continuing. I have never had problems with blood draws in my right/sideways vein so that in addition to the unsuccessful left arm draw made me feel that they were both in need of training by an appropriate source. It felt that the woman in scrubs was the lead phlebotomist of the two but with the mistakes and nerves presented in both, additional training is needed so this does not happened to anyone else. I will not be returning to donate blood at this location.

I was here several months ago, and (it happened again when I recently visited) the laptop kicked me out when I got to a certain part of the questionnaire. Instead of just signing me back in, the woman seemed impatient, and without saying anything, proceeded to fill it in for me, asking me the questions. I thought that was condescending. Also, both employees were engaged in conversation with each other while I was there. I'm glad my experience this time was better, as I'd considered not donating there again, even if it was the closest location to me.

The nurses and phlebotomists took the time to thoroughly explain every step of the process, which made me feel comfortable and confident throughout my donation. The facility was very clean, well-organized, and maintained to a high standard. I felt appreciated every step of the way, and the staff regularly checked on me to make sure I was doing well. What impressed me most was the level of care and respect I received. The experience felt more like being treated at a high-end hospital than a donation center. Every team member was friendly, patient, and committed to providing excellent care. I want to sincerely thank all of the nurses, phlebotomists, and staff for making my donation experience such a positive one. Their dedication and professionalism encourage me to return and continue donating. If you're considering donating plasma, I highly recommend it--not only can you help others, but you'll be in excellent hands with a team that truly cares. Thank you for everything!

would not recommend this place to anyone! I signed up as a new donor in June for their promotion…read more My first two donations were successful. On my next eligible donation date, I had a phlebotomist whose conduct I found disturbingly unprofessional. Upon asking the phlebotomist to confirm that the promotion allowed a total of 35 days to complete all of the required donations for the promotional payout, the phlebotomist insisted the promotion allowed only 30 days total, even after I asked again to be absolutely sure. When I asked whether the needle was supposed to look and feel the way it did, she removed it after the machine had already started, gave confusing information, discouraged trying my other arm, yet repeatedly told me I could come back the next day. I was told I would be paid $5. Wanting to be absolutely sure, I asked more than once for confirmation that this was exactly the amount I would receive. When I later checked the app, I found I had actually been paid $10 instead. This was yet another example of being told something that was not correct. It also still wasn't the full donation payment I believe I should have received. I asked supervisor Isabel the same 35-day promotion question I'd asked the phlebotomist. Isabel confirmed that the information I had originally believed was correct, meaning the phlebotomist had insisted incorrectly. After Isabel realized I was dissatisfied, her tone changed. She tried to get me to agree that I simply had bad veins, said I wasn't a good candidate, and told me never to return, directly contradicting the phlebotomist repeatedly telling me I could come back the next day. When I asked to speak with someone higher, she told me there was no one above her. I then spent hours and hours over several days making numerous calls to both the local center and corporate. The only consistent pattern was being told that representatives were attempting to contact the facility, no one answering, and being asked to call back in another 20-30 minutes. I did this multiple times, only to receive the same response. At the same time, different representatives provided conflicting information about who I could speak with, whether they could request to speak with a specific individual, and whether they could provide the director's details. At one point, I was provided the name "Caitlin" as the director and proceeded based on the information I was given, without any assurance that it was correct. I mailed a letter addressed to Caitlin Ryan, but afterward I was left not knowing who actually received it, whether it reached the appropriate person, or what--if anything--was done with it. I completed multiple escalations, yet over a month later I never received a single response. Now the Octa app shows information missing and says I'm ineligible to donate, yet no one has explained why. They have access to my information and can apparently make decisions affecting my eligibility, yet I have no meaningful way to access information, discuss those decisions, or get answers. I was left feeling powerless, completely in the dark, and honestly creeped out by the lack of transparency.

I paid up front over Venmo, feeling comfortable with it because of his good reputation on here. And indeed he did not disappoint. Andre showed up to my house exactly on time. He went over the instructions of the kit for the test I was having done, and already knew what to expect. He asked the right questions - "Are there ice packs with this one?" "Does it need to be centrifuged?" He was even such a pro he knew which cabinet door held my garbage can without looking. The poke itself was right on the money, nearly painless, and without complication. He took the kit with him to do the postal dropoff himself - it was included with his services. One less thing for me to have to do, which was appreciated. We shook hands, said goodbye, and that was that. He did not solicit me for a Yelp review. A lot of service providers will offer deals to customers in hopes of scamming their way into a good review - it's a red flag whenever I see it and it makes me mad for having wasted time reading reviews that were essentially bought. But Andre didn't do that at all, which is why I immediately got on my computer to write him a review anyway. He earned his reviews by being good at what he does. I'd use him again anytime.

Long time donor, first time reviewer…read more Honestly, I should have reviewed the good people at UCI Health Blood Donor Center many years ago. This is my bad. You see, I have been donating platelets here at close to a monthly basis for about a decade. I've lost count at the total number of donations, but I eclipsed the 4-gallon mark over a year ago. I am a lifelong Dodgers fan that was talked into a whole blood donation by a coworker at a UCI-run Angels blood drive event. I know - Dodger Blue at an Angels event. God forbid. But even wearing that Dodgers cap, I was warmly welcomed by the UCI crew on their donor bus. The bus was awesome, and the process went well, and they asked if I might want to donate platelets the next time. I had no idea, at the time, of the importance and necessity of platelet donations - even more than whole blood. They are used in many important ways for cancer and trauma patients of all ages, and have a very short shelf life; they must be used within 5-days. As the only certified Level I adult trauma center and Level II pediatric trauma center in Orange County, UCI are always in need platelets and whole blood, especially now. So sure...take my Dodger blue platelets, please. (And yes, per my pic, there are Raiders platelets in that bag too.) I saw one complaint on Yelp about the phones not being answered here. Sometimes it happens when the place gets busy, and I have had to call in a couple of times before to get someone, sure. I wouldn't doubt that had that gentleman explained the situation and asked for validated parking, he might have received it. Maybe not in his case, I don't know, but I can confirm that the Blood Donor Center pays for your parking when you donate; even if your numbers aren't up to snuff and your donation is not accepted on that visit...they cover you. And they have some nice thank you gift cards or vouchers in appreciation of their donor's time as well. I don't do it for the free stuff. I do it because it's the right thing to do and it brings me joy, and this is a great place to do it. There is a very long list of good people who run the location, and I am certain to miss more than I will mention here, but kudos go to all, from the guy at the top, Dr. Tran, to the teams who take your donations, Mic Mic, Tina, Angelo, Alejandra, Axel, Joseph and Jeff, and those too who moved on but made the place great over the years, like Kim, Danny and Pam...they are all amazing, caring people, who appreciate their donors and treat us well. Special shout out to Ann Marie, who motivates donors to give their blood and platelets - she's always fun to talk to, despite her ill-advised sports allegiances. We are helping to save lives and these people facilitate that effort well. What more can you ask for? There are lots of options out there to donate your blood or platelets, and I have been to a few in my day, but this has been and will continue to be my go-to donor center. Book an appointment with them, in confidence, today. Thank you for your donation!

The rest of the staff was rude and did not seem to recognize me as a person... I get that they see a lot of patients but I truly felt as though they did not care whatsoever. This was my first time donating, and they messed up my vein about 3 times. The first guy was unable to fix the mistake he made by fully missing my vein, and I had to wait with a needle incorrectly placed in my arm for about 2-3 minutes. The person who came to fix it couldn't either, so she was just digging in my arm. She ended up perforating my vein and causing bruising. Throughout this, she was speaking to the other phlebotomist and did not talk to me much at all and said that the pain I had was normal. Eventually they called over the main phlebotomist and he was able to speak to me like a patient and take the needle out of my arm. Since, I have been deferred. To become un-deferred I have been calling every day for 5 days now without a call back. To contact the center, you have to go through the corporate offices and are unable to contact them directly, which makes this even more frustrating. Generally this experiance has been extremely negative, which I find extremely disappointing.
