The employees don't pay attention and the floor manager did not care. I was in the worse pain because the pressure was so bad in my arm that it was swelling. The floor manager (skinny girl with glasses) was not watching her bay and I ended up getting so bruised. It was so painful. No one cared. It was so sad. I would definitely not go there. Definitely go somewhere else or you could be hurt or even sent to the hospital. Called the next day and talked to Allison and the didn't seem to care either. Tried to give it another shot. I do still feel like it needs more staff. Great and amazing staff, just not enough to help with you quickly medically if anything does happen. It's not worth the risk effecting your body, as someone who does not really need to do this anymore. I'm just going to stop. I just had an hour and 40 minute donation on the machine. For 40$ if you think it's worth spending 2 hours of your life do it. I'm just not at that point in my life anymore to think that is worth it. I also hear a lot of machines stop after an hour and a half. So personally I think it's crazy that it can go for 10 minutes more. If you need the money risk it, if you really don't just focus on your well being. read more

Today was my first time donating and they made it so easy and painless. Everyone working seemed so down to earth yet professional. I'm a hard stick but that wasn't a problem with them. I would never recommend biomat to anyone. They do warn you that you could receive a false positive while donating plasma well I got one of those false positives it was from a test that they did called altrio which test for HIV hepatitis B and hepatitis c I was told I had all three of those . So they said I can't donate plasma or blood anywhere ever then I received a call from Orange county health services saying that I was put on a database for having HIV hepatitis c and hepatitis B so I had to go to my doctor he sent me out to have blood work done at the lab those tests all came back negative biomat will ruin your reputation and put a scare in you until you go and have your own blood work done it cost money and it's scary I would never recommend biomat to anyone they should close down . read more

I don't recommend coming here if you don't donate often and don't want to get re-evaluated every few months. You would think technology is up-to-date, but nope. My last donation was months ago, and initially, they told me they only do a physical annually. I thought they had been thorough the first time, but left out the fact that they have to re-do the hour or so long process if it's been too long. It's sucky if you had to drive far just to find that out there. One of the employee said something about 120 days or 6 months being the duration necessary to repeat the intake. I think the Grofols Donor Hub system should notice this discrepancy and not let you make an appointment in the first place. They had me wait even longer for no reason. I think I'll stick to Red Cross or maybe go to another plasma donation facility. read more

I hadn't donated since last year on march and I came back to donate again 03/20/25 . When you donate wear comfortable clothing. - I wore a waist trainer that I normally wear daily and I had this tight long sleeve ( not a good idea )the sleeve cut my blood circulation that couple minutes while I was giving blood I started to feel weird as if I was going to faint, I was sweaty, my vision was going blurry. Brittany and Linda were right there putting me ice on my neck and chest and giving me water bottles making sure I was ok. Thanks Brittany and Linda! Please save yourself the time, emotional damage and money. I've been wrapped in latex when I'm allergic. I've been sitting there for 20+ minutes with a needle in me and not asked my donor number.. not once or twice but more then three times.. I've been in pain and waved down for help but nobody see's 'me for 15-20 minutes. They don't care. Don't come here. Orange County needs to open a new location. If you want people who seem to understand your needs and follow protocol BUT DONT, don't come here. I've been in contact with corporate and I pray to god this place gets a visit from someone higher up. They will lose your protein sample and put it on you to be responsible for it but not compensate the full amount. I have been a plasma donor for about 10 years, at about 6-7 centers. After having a nightmare experience at another local center earlier in the day, I came here to donate and I am so happy i did! Overall, let me share that it has been my experience that most plasma donation centers operate in the same way. New donors often take about 3 to 4 hours for the first donation, most of the time is spent waiting. There are often long lines, not enough staff, and for the most part, it will feel like Cattle-call as your pushed through the lines from station to station. Even as a regular donor, it is difficult to know how long your donation may take. It may take 60 to 90 minutes one day, and 2 to 3 hours the next time. After waiting, and waiting, you may even get to furred for a staff error; that was what happened to me, and why I came to Buomat. Prior to arrival, I found the center and was pleased that they not only answered the phone, but were able to address my questions in a polite and professional manner; it is difficult to get people on the phone at other centers at all. On the call, I was told to expect about 2 1/2 hours for my first donation; future donations. Will take about 90 minutes. On arrival, I was thrilled to find parking right near the door, a rarity at upon entering I opened the stopwatch app on my phone and hit the start button. My experience was great as far as plasma donations go. I was impressed with the attention that I was given by the staff, and how does Center seems to put the needs of their donors at the forefront of their operations. I never waited more than a few minutes in between tasks get started as a new donor and at the end I was completely stand when I looked at my stopwatch and I left the building two hours and 28 minutes after walking in the door - Awesome! If you have not donated before, please keep in mind that there are several things that need to be done on your first visit in 2 1/2 hours is generally considered to be a good number. My experience at the center was very positive, because they do things very differently than most everyone in the industry. First and foremost, this center appears to be outwardly focused on making their donors feel comfortable and welcomed. They are attentive and focused on getting you through the process as quickly as possible. Most surprising is that, even though they appear to be very quick and efficient, they also appear to be more thorough in how they complete their documentation and initiate the process in terms of explaining details and clarifying information. There is also a couple of unique things that the center does differently, not often seen in other centers. First, they do not have a roped off areas for people to stand in long lines, but rather a lobby similar to most medical centers. Donors are greeted and assisted, and then quickly taken back for their donations. The big reason that they were able to do this is Simple: they schedule the regular donations. New donors are seen on a walk in basis, but after that donors consult schedule their next visit and so on. There is just one kiosk in the lobby for screening questions. It is common to see five to six of them in most centers. They have just one because that is all they need. In addition to self scheduling, donors, can complete the screening questions on the app prior to arrival As a result, clients walk in the door at a controlled flow having done their screening questions making the system much more efficient. Lastly, I did not observe any staff shortages that are typical in most donation centers. High turnover is common within this industry, and there is often not enough staff to serve the many donors who just walk in to be seen. That was not the case here; if anything, it seemed like they may have had a couple of extra people. Why other plasma centers do not do some of the things that this one is doing two more officially manage their business and serve their consumers is beyond me, but Biomat has certainly want me over, and I will be back again, and again. Second donation followup: very smooth, just a two minute wait and done in just over an hour. Next visit will be even faster. read more

The staff is really nice usually and they work pretty fast but my issue is with management. They keep paying people less everytime I go back to donate. They don't tell you everything they should such as they don't care when you donate the week is Monday-Sunday I donated Sunday and got told the next time I donate I'd only be getting $35 how tf is that fair. And they don't consider you a new donor if you haven't donated in over a year anymore which would've been nice to know as they could hear me talking about getting the new donor pricing. UPDATE: It has gotten even worse. My schedule has been so packed during the day that I haven't been able to go back in almost three months. I tried twice, but both times, they took so fucking long to get to me that I wasn't able to stay to even start the donation. Now, I try to come back, finally, with enough time, and they tell me that it's been so long, I need to have a new sample taken. Supposedly, they take a new sample every 3-4 months (but didn't take one between mid-May and early September?), but because they just didn't get around to it the last few times I was there, and because their process got so incredibly fucking slow the last couple times I tried to donate, now I apparently have to go back through the entire new-donor process, which takes EVEN LONGER and which I clearly don't have time for, ever? Fuck that. Three strikes now. Three fucking strikes. Never coming back here again, and steering everyone else away. ~~~~~~~~~~~ The phlebotomists are largely careless and not well-trained. The fingersticks at the beginning regularly hit nerve endings in a way that is not only very painful initially, but remains painful to the touch afterward, sometimes for days. On the other hand, I have at times had ones that are barely painful at all, so I know it's possible for it to be done better than the vast majority of them do it. Then there's the actual plasma draw procedure. When I first started going in to this location, the needles were long and thin. Now they are long and wide, with the phlebotomists claiming that nothing has changed. Believe me, when both my right and left arms used to get pinprick points from the needles and now get literal cuts about an eighth of an inch long (see photos)--something has changed, and it's not good. The insides of my elbows, especially on the left where my best vein is a bit off-center, are itchy *under the skin* for days afterward, as well as being red and inflamed. This never happened before the needle change. On top of all that, the staffing at this location sucks. Sometimes there will be seven or eight phlebotomists running around, if not more, but other times you'll have a busy mid-afternoon with only four phlebotomists in the whole room, and you'll sit there waiting 20+ minutes just to get started, or you might have to wait the same amount just to be disconnected once your saline is done. Not cool. It's no surprise they have to come up with new little incentives to get people to keep coming back, and even those are so small they aren't worth it. An extra $5 to donate twice in the first week? An extra $25 to donate once more this month than you did in the previous month--which might be literally impossible, depending on the days of the week that you donate, and if you maxed out your donations in the previous month? I researched several different blood/plasma donation centers and picked Grifol's, Biomat USA, in the city of Orange, California thinking that it seemed to be the most assessable and worthy of my time. Well it ended up being neither. It was way farther than I thought , taking me well over an hour to get to and I was not only immediately rejected I was treated like a peasant or lowly. The representatives at the reception desk greeted me with indignation, I was hauled into the procedure area and a young girl who was assigned to qualify me took two seconds to say that my veins were too flat and instruct me to go home and drink a lot of water before making another appointment. I told her that I had gotten there way early and walked quit a distance to the closest little market then back without drinking anything and asked if I could just drink a couple of waters for which she gave me a sharp NO. also I had my little shopping cart with items I had gathered earlier that day which I parked next to their vending machine, in the corner where it was completely out of the way but I was told that I could not leave it there or anywhere in the center because they said it was a safety hazard. The cart was nowhere in the way and definitely did not pose as any kind of safety hazard. I felt like a discarded old dish rag and as if I had waisted my time only to be let down. read more

I saw someone said the pay wasn't what place advertised and I find that to be untrue. I donate 2x a week getting $35 on 1st donation of week and $85 on 2nd donation of week. My husband is disabled so I am here on his behalf to report this horrible incident. My husband has been a loyal donor here for a little over 8 years and has seen multiple changes in management and by far its current management system is the worse he's ever seen. Today my husband was told he couldn't donate here anymore. Their reason was because he was complaining. His "complaint" was telling one of the employees how they were sticking him wrong and hurt him while removing the needle and cut him as a result. And multiple times after expressed how unsatisfied he is for the unprofessionalism this donation center has been since. It's clear that they have inexperienced employees back there and do not know what they're doing. These employees neglect patients and spend too much time talking rather then actually working which explains the 3+ hour donations when it's suppose to take maximum hour and a half. Management is nowhere to be found to implement order and professionalism. This center seems to care and cater more to new donors than their regulars. There has been multiple occasions where they forget to send payment as well. His own brother donates here and has shared how it takes him almost 3 hours to donate and how he also has been stuck wrong and bruised as a result. For them to tell him he can no longer donate there but can go donate somewhere else seemed to be more personal. He has never threatened anyone. All he wanted was for them to take accountability for injuring his arm. We live in Los Angeles and My husbands commute is over an hour to and from this donation center and now has literally taken away the only extra income he was able to make since his accident. read more

Never had an issue with staff until SHERRY and her male manager. I call to ask why I can't book any appointments and she tells me there's an abnormality with my blood. I asked her what that means, thinking something is seriously wrong. She said she can't tell me, that I have to come in person and I can't make an appointment either, it has to be a walk in. She had an attitude the entire time. I understand if you have your policies, but there's a way to go about speaking to people. I work customer service too. I complained to the manager and he basically told me she was just doing her job and defended her. He said that his staff are going to return the same energy we give them.... Not only does it take 2-4 hours to get seen and donate every time; there's always blood on the floors and on the chairs. The care here is sloppy as well. Some techs forget to check your weight or blood pressure, and some don't ask if you're allergic to latex. They're super loud and casually talk to each other across the room like it's a lunch hall. Super unprofessional.This place is unsafe and needs to be shut down. Update- one of the nurses took something from off the bottom of her shoes and proceeded to stick a donor with a needle. This place has the rudest and least empathetic staff of any plasma donation center I've ever experienced. You are literally a slab of meat to them. I told the person injecting me where was the best vein to put the needle. They refused to listen. Instead, they injected the needle in the wrong vein. It didn't work (leaving a substantial bruise) on my arm. It was like pulling teeth to get them to acknowledge what I was saying. Eventually, they did what I asked, which was successful. They were impatient and treated me with hostility throughout the process. The ordeal was frustrating and painful. I do recommend donating plasma, as it's critical to saving lives, but I'd choose a different center that will value you as a person and your donation. read more

Make sure you read the edit at the end! This program is nice, but don't get that excited. They have nice bonuses, but it's only worth it if you come twice a week, and their own regulations will make it so that rarely happens. For example, they don't let you donate if you have bruising from the last time you were stuck with a needle. Last time I was assigned a novice phlebotomist who left bruises on both my arms that ended up taking two weeks to disappear, and they sent me away today because there's a faint shadow of one still there. Gas is expensive, which makes this not worth it. I'll go into some case studies. For one, the fancy heart rate and pulse monitors they use are very faulty. You have to hold them closed or else the Velcro opens, which obviously gives a higher reading since external pressure is added to the cuff. In one instance it read my heart rate as 106 while my Apple Watch read it at 77, which is where my resting heart rate normally is. Definitely not staff's fault, but they need to be supplied with better equipment. Another friend of mine was deferred for over a month because their machine broke and couldn't return the red blood cells, white blood cells, and whatever else they return to your body after the plasma was collected. Keep in mind that a mistake like that disqualifies you from some new donor bonuses because those bonuses only last for 60 days. Yet another friend of mine was deferred for however long because his protein levels were off, but when he got the results, it looked fine and they told him that it was probably an error on their end. They still have him deferred regardless. Not to mention that it's tedious to prepare yourself for a donation. You have to hydrate to the point where you're making 6+ bathroom trips the day before and the day of your donation. My ratio for draws per trip out is now 1:4. Remember, you aren't an employee or contractor of theirs - they send you away at the drop of a hat without consideration of the time you set aside or how far you drove to get there. Best of luck to you if you decide to go ahead with this anyway. The headache that this place has caused both me and other acquaintances of mine is other-worldly. You have been warned. EDIT: at first, I was very frustrated with this establishment, and to some extent, I still am. However, I gave this business a few more tries, and I'm happy to say that it has been mostly smooth sailing, which brings the review up from a one star to three stars. The staff is mostly nice, and if there's some headache created by corporate policy, it's not their fault and you can see they genuinely feel bad if you're deferred for some reason. read more

I came here last Thursday; it was my first time ever donating plasma. I arrived at around 11:30; filled out the paperwork, watched a video and then was told to wait. It took about an hour and a half for a nurse to call me in to check my pulse and protein levels. I was told my pulse was slotted high. I was given the option to sit in the waiting room and retest. They told me they would retest me in 15 mins. An hour later I was finally retested and everything was ok. An hour after that I went in for my physical. 30 mins after my physical I was finally hooked up to the machine. I was about 5 mins into my donation when the phlebotomist realized she forgot the full the test tube to test my blood fist. They stop the machine, clamp my line and take out the blood that needs to be tested. The phlebotomist got blood on my pants and purse. At the end I had a reaction; I felt sick. I was able to complete my donation. The dr called me the next day and told me I was ok to continue donating. It too 5 hours! The reason I had a reaction is because they held me for 5 hours and I ate 2 hours before my appt!! I came in today to do my 2nd donation. I scheduled an appointment online for 8am. I was told my appt was not in the system but that I could check in at 815. I tried to check in and was told I wasn't able to. I talked to Gladys the receptionist and she tells me I'm on hold because of my last reaction!! The reviews are definitely right. read more

At my last appointment, phlebotomist MIKAEL connected me to the plasmapheresis machine, and THANH disconnected me and wrapped up my arm at the end of my donation that day. These two phlebotomists, and ALL of the staff that I met here, were always efficient and professional, to also include: ABBY, KATHY, LOAN, and KYLER, who were also there that day (all of whom helped me previously), brightening up the place with their positive attitudes, while helping other donors. And I can't forget: Ally, Alyssa, Amber, Amy, Angie, Carla, Carmen, Dayday, Dominique, Gina, Grace, Jessica, Jordana, Jordyn, Krista, Lani, Lauren, Linda, Lindsey, Marisol, Mayra, Miriam, Misty, Nina, Pat, Roxanne, Saida, Sasha, Val, Viviana, Alex R., Alex S., Angel, Hector, Jesse, and Jonathan. My first phlebotomist here did my finger prick and was pushing down so hard on my finger that when she did the actual shoot out for the needle it pricked my finger so hard and left a little scar. Which is really not that big of a deal on my eyes but I asked Stephanie on my second time coming here to please maybe not push so hard on my finger she did it so fast and accurately she made me feel like it actually mattered not to make it as painful so I feel like she should be recognized for her skill and technique!!!
