A truly special place in the heart of Baltimore!…read more I've been volunteering at St. Francis Neighborhood Center for a while now, and it's hard to put into words just how much this place means to me, and to the community it serves. The staff and volunteers are passionate, dedicated, and genuinely care about creating opportunities for the kids and families who come through the doors. Working with the kids here has been such a joy. You can see their confidence and creativity grow every day, whether it's through after-school programs, summer camps, or mentorship activities. It's amazing to watch them discover their strengths and build lasting friendships. The center itself has also seen incredible transformations in the last couple of years. The building has been beautifully renovated and expanded, with new spaces that make learning, playing, and connecting even more inspiring. Every improvement has been made with the community in mind, and you can feel that when you walk in. If you're looking for a way to give back, get involved, or just see real change happening in Baltimore, St. Francis Neighborhood Center is a perfect place to start. I'm so proud to be part of it!

Although there are some good people at The Baltimore Station, they stand in the shadows of Kim, Paul, Josh and Russel who are all thieves. Food donations and donations of value do not make it to the residents. Staff first go through them all and decides what they want. Complaints have been made to the program and to Veterans Affairs but nothing is done. The place is full of mice, roaches and filth. Residents are threatened not to talk about the situation and told they will be kicked out. The amount of employee theft is unbelieveable and happens every single day. This location is much more open since it's like a warehouse with shared space for other nonprofits. The books are somewhat organized, but since they have lots of book donations, there are always bins and bins full of books that are constantly being sorted. My suggestion is to come when you have the time to sort through the book options and pick through what's useful. Some books are brand new, others with a little wear, and some are much older. It's a pretty mixed bag of books They're open about 4 days a week for specific timeframes. It's absolutely free to get a certain number of books, and kids can take as many as they can carry. You can also buy a membership, which is tax deductible, if you would like to take more than the allotted amount. They also have special events here and there for members. Overall, this is a great place to get books for classrooms, daycares, camps, etc.
