I did a google search to find a company that had good ratings. I found Mr. Drippy Plumbing. Seemed like a good company. Promptness: The way Mr. Drippy works on the potential of needing a new hot water heater is them come to your residence to check your appliance. This is not my first rodeo on replacing Hot Water Heaters, A/C units, Appliances and more. I expected to get a time to visit in about a week. Instead, it was the next day. Add to that, they showed up on time. I was shocked. Be A Smart Consumer: I knew from the start, fixing my unit was going to be a segway to replacing it. That is way looking at my issue was not a charge. I also knew, once they saw the unit, the comparison pricing for fixing and new unit would be the sales presentation. Based on my location and needs, I researched the approximate pricing of the replacement, removal, parts and labor. My HOA has a rule to only use licensed and insured venders, or I would do what I used to do. Buy the unit, hire a non-licensed or insured vendor and same money. NOT THIS TIME. Who knows what can happen and the HOA would come back to me. Service Provided: I was presented the numbers and surprise, I selected to purchase a new unit. To my surprise, it was installed that same day. The installer was a true professional. The unit brand was American which is middle quality. The price was higher than what I expected however I paid a bit more because of the great communication I was given throughout the process. Sometimes, we have to give credit to a good company during this challenging times. Issue With the Installation: I live on the third floor with units on the second and first floors. It seems, when the water from my old water heater unit was disposed of, it made a leak in the pipes for the 1st floor unit. I was very upset at first. Then Mr. Drippy Sent in a manager, followed by a water repair company that same day. I called the day after to see what the situation was and the repair was in process. Throughout this situation, I communicated with all parties especially the HOA in great detail. I waited two weeks to write this review. It seems the issue is resolved. Conclusion: Hiring professionals that are licensed, insured and reviews mostly well makes a difference. Will you have to pay a little more, yes. It is worth it, yes. Would I do business with these folks again, yes. Simple as that.

But I can't get to mad, because I knew our hot water heater would go out at some point with the age it was. And that day finally happened last week. Off I go to Yelp and one of the top places to pop up was Chapman Plumbing. I called and Jason said he would be able to come out that day to check it out. After a wife being forced to take a cold shower that morning, I knew time was going to be key to this. When he came out and took a look, my suspicions were correct that a new water heater had to be put in. Jason was definitely not a fan of our hot water heater being in the attic. But since that wasn't my decision and I agree its kind of stupid, I didn't mind his loathing. He was extremely personable and straight to the point. Which I appreciated. Unfortunately it was the afternoon when they came out. And with this being in the attic, it was going to take longer. So he wasn't able to fix it that day. But he did come out first thing the next morning. I though I was going to be in hot water (pun totally intended) with my wife. But she figured out a solution for that one day. Madden came out when they said, tore out the old fiberglass tub and surround, pointed out the new tub we bought was damaged before starting work so I had time to exchange it. Great! They installed the new tub, faucets, raised the shower head, and helped install the insulation on the outside wall. Great! Chris is a nice guy and easy to work with. They were not great at sweeping up after, and wiping out the tub but that isn't a big deal. I started cleaning up the bathroom today and discovered the hot water in the tub isn't working. So they are coming back out today to fix it. Great!

I called Madden's office and this nice lady said she could get someone out that afternoon. As promised, Chris showed up and after me explaining the history got his machine out and had my sink unclogged in less than a half hour. After hooking everything up he checked that everything was draining well, clean up the area and presented me with a bill that was less than the other people told me it would cost. I will be having more plumbing done in the summer and I will be calling Madden.

My wife felt ripped off and trapped. I will do my best to make sure NO ONE I speak to ever uses their services. UPDATE: Shortly after posting this, management at Ben Franklin Plumbing contacted me to discuss the situation. They seemed genuinely troubled that this pricing was not in accordance with an ongoing special they have had for drain cleaning. We contacted them and they apologized and refunded nearly $80. While I still will probably now invest in an auger (relatively inexpensive as I quickly investigated) and not call another service for a clogged toilet again, this gesture was greatly appreciated and speaks well for the company. It shouldn't have been necessary, but was handled well afterward.

I called Benjamin Franklin to replace my garbage disposal and to take a look at my shower head…read morewhich wasn't operating properly. The technician replaced the garbage disposal with no issues. I thought the price was reasonable. He barely looked at the shower head and told me that he would have to remove the current fixture then possible tear through the wall and that it could possibly cost over $1000 not including the wall repair. I told him no thank you and I got a second opinion. Turned out all I needed to do was turn the knob on the shower head which controls the flow of water.
