The king suite had everything I wanted and needed for my stay including a very large work desk, ample space, blackout curtains, a bath tub/shower with nice smelling bath products and an adjustable massage shower head and large tv with all the streaming services. I plan to book a suite room when staying at a hotel from here on out it was that nice. As for the property I loved the location - close to a variety of excellent eateries/restaurants, attractions like a ski hill in the winter and a drive-in open in the summer. There was a nice continental breakfast available on the morning with several cold and hot item choices including vegetarian-friendly options. The gym on-site had a Peloton bike which I used and was excited about. The pool and hot tub were also clean, spacious and perfect for relaxing in during a snow day. I only left the hotel once to pick up dinner nearby otherwise I never would have left. Great value and still only a short drive into Milwaukee.

Well I recently changed companies and there was a gap between the last job and this one. Money was tight due to some personal issues that had to do with me leaving the last job and having a gap. I was checking in on a Monday to start work at my new company the following day so I did not have a company card yet. The hotel was booked and paid for by my new employer and my reservation was for 12 days. As I mentioned I'm a loyal Hilton customer and I use the Hilton Honors app. The day before check-in I used the app to select my room. I think this is where the problem started. I had a personal card as my payment method on the app and I think that when I checked in it switched from using the payment method my employer provided and switched it to my personal card, which did not have a large enough balance to cover the 12 days I would be staying. So my check-in did not go through. I calmly tried to explain this issue to the front desk attendant and she was absolutely uncaring, I think her primary concern was that she did not know how to resolve the issue so she just wanted it to go away. She insisted that the only card they had for this reservation was my personal card. I offered to get some info and call some people and stepped aside because there was another woman who needed help. Turns out the other woman was trying to sort out an issue with personal vs corporate payments but hers was a bit different than mine. I tried to step back up when that woman went back to sit in the nearby chairs but the receptionist told me she was still working on that woman's issue. She eventually called a manager and after dealing with the other issue asked about my issue and the solution was simple and something I had politely suggested earlier. The entire time she was uncaring, responded with blank stares and made pretty clear she didn't care if I slept on the street that night. I've been in Homewood Suites several times before. This one is new but it's not well designed. In the king suite there is one table and chairs that are taller than dining table chairs but shorter than bar height chairs. I am using the bags of supplemental blankets as a foot rest so that blood flow isn't being cut off as I sit to do work at the table. Other locations have also had a small work desk with a suitable chair. There is a built-in nightlight at the bathroom sink that can't be turned off. I covered mine with a band-aid. In the shower room and toilet there is a door and a motion sensor light. In the middle of the night it's like a flashbang grenade. I had to put two band-aids on that one. I don't really like the shower but it's a 3/5. The AC is like so many now. It lies. It turns off in the middle of the night. The breakfast is pretty average. There is usually a sausage, then they have had Chicken Tinga or Chorizo and Potatoes. Yukon Gold potatoes and scrambled eggs. Waffles, yogurt, oats, sweet baked goods, bagels. A condiment bar with a green and red salsa, jalapenos. Only one dispenser for regular coffee so it is often empty. Their OJ is in a pitcher and the cups for it are extra small, plus it has a chemical taste. I'm not a fan of hotel breakfast in general and this is no different than most. Oh, the dish washing machine is extra loud, like crazy extra loud. You can also hear every footstep from the room above, so I'd opt for a 4th floor room. Even thought this hotel is new the laundry is coin-op. EDIT: After the owners response I want to say that I have had exceptional experiences with the shuttle drivers. All of them. I should have mentioned that. Also, besides the person I dealt with at check-in I have had positive experiences with the front desk staff. However, the chair issue is too much for me. I will be looking for an alternative when I'm in the area and I will be back often. I need a foot rest and my makeshift solution is not cutting it. I cannot comfortably work at the table because the chairs are too high. I appreciate the response. Thank you!

They have a daily breakfast which is very good. Few problems I've encountered is the non-existence of Spectrum WIFI that's has the WEAKEST SIGNAL EVER so the maintenance man can't fix the TV because it barely picks up a signal to any stations; so NO movies, NO local stations, no premium channels. Also, they don't clean your room on weekly basis as needed especially when requesting cleaning, toilet paper, towels, vacuuming & garbage removal. There's a laundromat on site but the 2 machines are broken; the pool is always closed due to bad water tests & in need of shock treatments. I pay over $5K a month to stay here so I think I should get the same services as any new arriving guests no?

The place was exceptionally clean. We were offered room cleanup every day, which is unusual and pleasant. Our room was spacious and quiet. The staff was friendly and gracious. My two issues with this motel were about corporate choices. First -- I think the breakfast selections on offer are strange, very much not to my taste. This has been true of every Towneplace we've stayed at. Second, the handicap shower plumbing didn't work very well. The cable to the handheld showerhead was too short and also leaked. The grab bars in the shower are polished chrome and were very slippery when wet. Again -- these were choices made at the corporate level.

As soon as I walked into the office I thought for sure id be met by some grumpy old guy who hates tourists and is rude like most of the other motels around. But NO!!!! I was met by a very pleasant lady who goes by the name Smita. I was so taken back by her professionalism that I had to bring it her attention. She was very polite and we had a nice chat about the other motels, one in particular (Dolly's Villa Vista) where the manager is super rude and the rooms look like they haven't been remodeled in at least 30 years. After my card was processed I ended up $6 short on the room and she was so kind to just say don't worry about. I was very thankful and told her I'd leave her a review after my stay. Well... I kept my promise and just want to say that the ElRancho has been an excellent overall experience. Thanks Smita for everything! Next time in the area im definitely staying here. Ten out of ten

My husband and I drove through the neighborhood and we started to get a bit skeptical. The hotel is situated in a neighborhood - there's a high school across the street. There isn't a lot to do in the immediate area (though there is a very cute beachfront park within walking distance - we spent a few hours down there). It seemed like a very strange for a hotel location, but we continued on. Each room is named after a region known for it's wine - we were in the Stellenbosch room - a leopard print chair, some giraffes and travel books for Africa embellished the room. Themes are fun. The shower was amazing! Multiple shower heads - I couldn't help but sing "Africa" by Toto. The bed was super cozy. We ended up locking ourselves out of our room very early in our stay. At a normal hotel, that's an easy fix, just head down to the front desk. At the Sheridan Hotel, the office hours are sporadic. We didn't know if we were going to be able to get back in. Luckily, we heard papers rustling inside the locked office and knocked. The owner was insider and she was incredibly nice and helped us out. Phew! The hours for the restaurant downstairs were strange too - closed on Mondays. Open only for brunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, then open full service the rest of the week. We had lunch there on Tuesday and it was delicious (Applewood Salad for me and my husband had the Chicken Panini - we both cleaned ours plates). So, in closing - the location is a bit strange and you need to be pretty self sufficient since the hours are sporadic, but the rooms are beautiful and comfy, the restaurant was tasty and the customer service was wonderful. The carpet and couch cushions and sofa couch had no wear and tear whatsoever. The suite was extremely spacious with plenty of lights, usb outlets and a big screen tv. There was even a nice dividing curtain that could be used to separate the couch/tv area with the beds. There is a full kitchen with a fridge, sink, dishwasher, microwave and the cabinets were well stocked with utensils, plates and bowls. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Other reviews about the breakfast here were not exaggerated. Had the best breakfast here as they use real eggs, quality of the meats and other offering were easily a step above what you get elsewhere and there was great variety. Meats included bacon, turkey sausage, vegan sausage and chorizo. There were bagels, biscuits, home fries, different types of bread, oatmeal and make your own waffle station. There were many different sauces and aiolis to use as well. I highly recommend this hotel and will be coming back. It's a short 10 minute drive to downtown Milwaukee and there's plenty of parking.

I asked if she could step out and even holler to see if it was left. She hung up while I was on hold. I believe that there were cognitive issues that did not allow her to understand why priority should have been given to just a check or transfer card. A stranger took it and I had to lock down my card. Luckily, they knew that I mentioned my company.. and actually turned it in to someone else in my company. They started that they tried to tell her and she never made an attempt to call me back on my phone or room. I am going to report this to my company and would never stay there again.
