I can't speak to the camping, but the Winter Carnival of Lights was a lot of fun. It was pricier than expected for the car pass ($30+). But we enjoyed the lights a lot. Definitely a fun holiday tradition.

It was everything I hoped it would be and more. When I was a kid, my dad would take us camping, but it was always primitive sites and even when we had a pop-up camper, it was primitive sites with no hook ups. On one trip home along the highway. We see a Jellystone park and he decides to stop and we spent the night there. It was one of the greatest camping nights ever because of all the amenities and things that we were not used to swimming pools, arcades, etc.. we got there so late. We didn't even have time to do the activities. Anyway, 30 years later, I have a wild hair to take my kids to one of these places so find this one to be the highest rated out of the ones within driving distance of Chicago . We arrived we're giving our golf cart cabin number and we were off. The cabins are absolutely beautiful. We had the 3 bunk cabin. Queen in a bedroom then 3 bunk beds in hallway, then futon that turns to bed in living room. It was just my wife my 2 kids and I , so it was comfortable. But you really could sleep 2-3 more people if you wanted to. We even had 22 month old in pack and play in hallway. Bathroom was nice, kitchen was great, everything new. You could bring a fire stick to watch what you want, make you phone a hot spot. I typically do that when we go to vacations to these as a kid places, like great wolf, or timber Ridge, or Kalahari. But there was no need for television on this trip. From 8am to bedtime there are activities both organized and at your leisure for kids and adults of all ages. Pools we loved, 3 areas, one rowdy, Pool with basketball hoops one calmer pool that was really warm and one area for kids age is zero maybe six or seven or eight w little slides and water "works" type things spraying water about. My five-year-old had fun there, but she also enjoyed the two large more traditional slides at the corner of the park. She was just 42 inches and they let her ride, and oh boy, she took the liberty and probably did 100 runs. The beach was also beautiful and my five-year-old had fun on the mini adventure park. She tie dyed a shirt on the beach one day, it was an organized activity that was offered all throughout the day. For free, you just have to bring the item there were black and white Jellystone shirts that my daughter picked one of. I saw a couple other kids with socks and random white shirts, so it was a free activity. There were many other cool, free activities for the kids. We probably did every free and every paid for activity they had, and I thought it was a good value all around. They have a little counter restaurant at the beach and another one at the pool. They serve the same food burgers, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers. Hotdog grilled cheese pizza. Fries. Etc. They do not serve alcohol in the park. At the adjacent beach, there is one bar, not once the entire time did I see anyone drunk, it was pleasant. The drone show over the beach and the golf cart. Parade of lights were amazing. , the light tunnel was epic, we have so much good to say. I hate to complain because I should treat it as if I'm camping, but they'd probably do real well with a restaurant or two, sit down. That's just the capitalist to me talking. One other suggestion I thought for them would be to have a hose on the outside of each cabin, it would have a good byproduct of less sand and dirt and leaves getting inside the cabins. Also, people could spray down their eating areas and picnic tables. But I understand I wouldn't be cheap to do that to cabin and would likely reduce the water pressure inside. ANYWAY, I wouldn't change a thing. 5 stars. We will be back annually, until our kids are sick of it.

Christmas Carnival of Lights is outstanding. Definitely go early in the evening. Not much traffic to deal with both in or out of the park. Everywhere you look there is lights of some sort. Radio station timed perfect to lights and areas. Such an amazing thing to bring the community together,

So I wanted to take my kids to see Christmas lights. We buy on line a reservation time slot. That was a joke. We waited to leave the house for an hour as not to get there early and be stuck you know we have a time. So we drive over an hour and get there and there is a huge line. So I call the office and here is what I was told. Yes there is no special line for reservations the time is just so we don't all show up at once but looked like everyone showed up at once to me. We sat for 40 minutes in line. No need to buy a ticket it won't change anything. You just don't have to deal with the 3 lines to get in. So if you have kids expect to sit for a long time before you get in As for the light they were cool there was such cute decorations and display. At the end you can stop in a building and meet Santa and get snacks or gift in the gift shop. The lights. We're cool and the building a nice experience. Just don't expect to get in when you. Have a reservation

I went to Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort in Caledonia, WI for four days (7/1-7/4) and acted as a camp-resort critic/reviewer. WARNING: This will probably be the most in depth review someone has ever given here. Here are my notes from each day: 7/1 The cabins were very clean and up to date on style. The shower wasn't friendly for people who are tall (i.e. 6'3" me), but I managed. Also, the stairs were extremely narrow. We went on the jumping pillow and after a few minutes someone kicked us out at 9 p.m. and it wasn't that dark out, it was unfortunate. My family and I walked through this big light show place that was really cool. You could literally drive your car through it. My huge extended family and I all sat around a fire pit under a pavilion. The pavilion is where we spent a lot of our relaxation time, it was nice. This is where we ate most of the food we packed and where we hungout at night the most. 7/2 Fished in Boo-Boo's pond, caught one animal and it wasn't a fish. My cousin caught a massive bullfrog, that was pretty interesting. We did spot some smaller bluegill, so if you have little kids and want to reel in those, the fishing would probably be good for that. If you enjoy catching big bass, I wouldn't suggest. Then we went to their outdoor basketball court. They have the double rims, but it didn't make a difference when I was shooting (of course). The outdoor court is a nice place to shoot hoops and typically isn't crowded. We ordered pizza and ate at the pavilion, it was right between all of our cabins. The outdoor laser tag was pretty cool and all of the guns worked well but one (wasn't mine haha). P.S. If you beat the high score I had of 13 kills in one game please celebrate, you deserve it. The guns weren't that heavy, the respawn was fast and from wherever. They also had a nice setup reviewing stats after + during the game for spectators. However, you can't tell when you kill someone, it only shows a little green light and you can't hear anything unless you die. Played some mini golf, it was nice that hardly anyone was there but I later found out why, a majority of the holes were the same layout. Later we went to the gift store that had some pretty cool apparel, looking back I should've bought something. Then we went to the arcade and played The Bonus Hole aka the coin pusher game (highly recommended). I talked to one of the owners as she let us win the 20-dollar bill after the arcade had already closed. Her name was Theresa Isaacson and she was very cool and extremely kind! 7/3 Mini golfed again, played more laser tag, hopped on the land inflatable obstacle course. It was pretty cool, you could race your buddy and that had a couple other inflatables. Then we went to Adventure Island aka the Wibit Pad. It's really fun running around there, I'd suggest a 2 hour pass as 1 hour wouldn't have been enough. Prepare to wipe out as it can get slippery. A MUST on this trip. Went to the pool after, I would suggest going on the two "big kid" slides they have there. The blue slide went incredibly slow, and if you did it right the red slide was one of the fastest water slides you'll ever go on. It was crazy, I bonked my elbow going so fast, but it was totally worth it. Then we played at the water balloon station and that was really fun, launching freezing cold water at each other, I'd highly recommend it. Went back to the arcade to play the extremely fun game aka "The Bonus Hole." Later we chased down Yogi Bear himself + the sleigh he was dancing on. We rode on the sleigh, jammed out to great tunes, had the times of our lives... The vibes were immaculate. The Yogi Bear Sleighride is a must. 7/4 Went to the pool, won against little kids when racing down the slides, I'm too fast. Went to the water balloon station again, it was a big hit. Went to "The Bonus Hole," and played that for a while. At the beach we played spikeball, I would suggest bringing it if you have it. Shortly after we went back to play "The Bonus Hole," I'm telling you all it's a great game. I'm not crazy, I swear. Went on the Yogi SleighRide again because I would've regretted not going, I'm a big fan of the Yogi Sleighrides. The drone show they provided was really cool, America heck yeah!!! Went back to play "The Bonus Hole." Then I had a strawberry banana smoothie made by Jenna + Emma, it was one of the best smoothies I've ever had. 9.3/10. Played night mini golf. Then hungout on the big rocking chair thingys at the gift shop. We hungout at the pavilion and chatted for a while. Negatives: The mini golf course didn't have as many obstacles as I would've hoped. It is right by an airport and you'll hear and see quite a few planes. Sometimes things close earlier than I think they should. Fishing wasn't great, at all. Concluding Notes: All of the employees there were extremely nice and kind and I chatted to everyone I got a chance to talk to. If you haven't been to Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort in Caledonia, WI... Then you need to book a trip.

Great splash pad and water park for the kids! Not pictured: Another pool with basketball hoops, 2 large water slides.

We got in at 8pm because we couldn't leave Chicago until after my husband logged off with work. We arrived to find the office closed and an envelope with our name on it taped to the door. That would have been super efficient... if they had actually put the key in the envelope. So I called the number to the KOA repeatedly and no one answered. I finally walked to the back of the office and found a bar. Not a lounge but a full fledged bar. The door stated masks were required to enter but not one single person out of the 40 or so people in there had a mask on. No worries, I'm fully vaccinated, I pushed on. I asked the bartender if she could help me and she directed me to a woman who was super nice and brought me into the office where she located the key. Score! Then we got into the cabin and we didn't have any water. My husband and I poked around in the dark to see if we could find a water source but since we know nothing about it, gave up. More unanswered calls to the KOA. Finally an hour later my husband walked back to the bar and found the same nice woman who came over and fixed the problem. She was super nice but seriously, at this point it was like 10:30pm and we were all just tired of the check in situation being such a long and drawn out pain. The cabin is good. We got a deluxe cabin "VIP" situation. It's fully equipped with plates, silverware, pots, pans, etc which is good because this cabin doesn't have a grill like other KOAs we have stayed at. The sofa bed is horrifyingly uncomfortable so don't plan on needing that. Bring an air mattress, there's space for a full size blow up in the sleeping loft. The biggest issue is the heating/cooling. If you turn the heat on, the back bedroom turns into a literal sauna while the rest of the cabin is ice cold. Also, we couldn't leave the windows open at night because everyone around us was so loud. There was a fundraiser event Friday night and golf carts with drunk people were whizzing around until well after midnight. From what I can tell, most people are seasonal here... and they like to party. Which is cool, my husband started looking into a camper to park here seasonally. Lol Seems like a fun vibe. But it's definitely not for people with little kids who care about quiet hours nor for those that are early to bed. I felt for the tent campers after that fundraiser let out on Friday night. There's no way they slept through that. They had tons of kids activities going on every time we drove by the front area. Which would have been amazing and a huge draw if it wasn't for the fact that not a single one of the dozens of kids were masked. My older kids did the mini golf and liked it. The shop has a lot of good basics in case you forgot something: bread, condiments, milk, eggs, etc. Everyone that worked in the shop was super nice and always masked. They kindly served the idiots that strolled in without masks, ignoring the sign on the door that says to wear one. The hiking trails in the KOA were seriously perfect for my kids. We took them over to Kettle Moraine too but this was great for them to just get out and move. There's three pools and I think two playgrounds. This place is MASSIVE, so bring the kids' bikes and scooters. Overall, we had fun. The employees are super nice and there's a lot to do here. Once my kids are vaccinated, we'll come back and partake in all the offerings.
