Good place for an old-fashioned breakfast. Open to the public for breakfast seven days a week, and lunch five days a week.

Although the primary focus of the center is to assist disabled veterans with finding career opportunities in the Washington DC area, many of their workshops and events are open to the local veteran community and are held primarily during weekday daytime hours. They also run the Washington DC Kaufman FastTrac class for new and aspiring military veteran entrepreneurs. I came here for the FastTrac program, which I'd highly recommend to anyVET who's contemplating owning and operating their own business. You do have to sign in at the front desk of the building, but sometimes the concierge is inconsistent so I'm not sure if it's a building thing or what - either way be sure to check in with the front desk. There are other nonprofits that inhabit the building but I'm not sure about their mission/focus. At the veterans center on the 2nd floor there's restrooms, two classrooms and a mini-lounge area with materials about other veterans-centric programs/events occurring in the area. They're not open on the weekends but I think that's because the building itself isn't open then. Lastly, check out their facebook page for upcoming events/details: https://www.facebook.com/Nationalvetsgetstarted

There's a number of large rooms if you want to host a conference or a community fair. There's also a bunch of classes you can sign up for, for a fee. (Vienna residents pay less.) I also like how close this place is to the center of Vienna. You could ride your bike here since the bike trail passes right by it. You could walk here right after going to the library. You could grab lunch and then walk over. You could hop over while your kid is playing baseball. In fact, car is probably the most annoying way to get here since the parking can be a pain, especially if you come during the Saturday morning farmers market when part of the parking lot is closed.

After hiking or biking the adjacent W&OD that can be helpful. Also super friendly Vienna Park and Recreation employees! Very kind folks. There's plenty of parking spots. I like the statue of kids reading. There are some nice benches as well. When my son was younger, took him here for a music and puppet show. That was fun and the arts thrive here. Definitely a nice community center, although I wish they could add a few activities.
