This is a great post and (IMO) the best in Oregon. A close second would be the post in Newport…read morewhich is also very good. I joined the legion in 1968 when it was old geezers who served in the Great War and WWII. These days, I'm the old geezer and most of the Legionnaires are younger than I am. Time sure flies. Very friendly crew here. I happen to enjoy sitting in a corner, quietly watching the world go by while enjoying a cheap (inexpensive) Colorado Koolaide. These guys won't let you :) Folks are always coming up, saying hello and introducing themselves, always with a handshake. Couldn't ask for a nicer group of folks to hang out with. They have several bartenders and they are all super. This post has a lot of activities along with cheap beer. Several days they serve lunches and dinner and the chow here is pretty decent. The hall is larger than usual for a post with a good sized bar and a lot of tables out on the main floor. They also have a huge gazebo out back that is very pleasant on a Summer evening. Lots of parking. As to the whining: This is a great post but if there is a secret handshake to get free drinks no one has clued me in on what it is. I pay for what I consume just like everyone else. And as to her friends... are they still in short pants or what? It is an individual responsibility to drink responsibly. Yeah, bartenders have legal responsibilities to be a nanny for idiots who don't know when to stop but perhaps you should find friends who have already grown up instead of posting negative reviews. Personally, I'm happy you and your alki friends won't be coming around again. I hate being around drunks. As another reviewer mentioned, each post is different and this one may or may not suit you. I've been to scores of other posts as a guest and some I liked a lot and others not so much. If Post 158 works for you as it does for me then that's great. If not, there are other posts in the general area so I'd advise checking them out as I did. The Aloha post is quite good also so perhaps you'll like it there. If you aren't into food, booze and camaraderie this post, like most others, does a lot of social outreach to Veterans homes, charitable work, memorials, flag retirement ceremonies and so on. There is also a Patriot Riders chapter here.

I thought I already rated this Post, but don't see it in the ones visible on the 'ratings'!…read more Anyway, have been to several dinners, so far--and the food was very well-prepared and tasty! This lodge offers meals on a monthly basis, several times a month. There are also the regular bar and basic gambling machines. I believe the lodge is trying to bring in music entertainment on a more regular basis, as well. It seems a fairly well-rounded group of members for the organization. Friendly, and the actual main area for all of this appears very well kept up and clean. I believe it is a good organization and think so much, that I have now transferred my membership from my old unit in San Francisco (the 444th), to this one! (Belonged to the 444 for 37 years, and while living in Portland, never attended a meeting, but kindly supported it, and it's mission!) So, hopefully I will be able to become more physically involved in activities here, as time goes on....thank you for being so welcoming! Dr. Mary Ann Humphrey-Keever

High ceilings and lockers that require tall ladders for access. Each locker has rows that are a depth of three bottles. The tasting room is sophisticated and classy. Upscale decor with plush seating. No windows but there is a fireplace and they offer spirits for those who need a break from wine (is that a thing?). They have a server there five days per week (Tuesday to Saturday). If someone offers to take you to this club, you should enthusiastically agree. One of the most interesting places I have discovered in all of Portland in a very long time.

Sokol Blosser decided to have one of their wine pick-up parties at the Boundary. This was…read moreespecially nice because it saved my friend Jeannie a long drive out to Dayton. Perhaps some folks from wine country may have made to the Portland metro area. They provided a nice charcuterie platter. One of the cheeses was very soft and spreadable and another cheese that had a waxy appearance but was not a hard cheese. The spreadable cheese seemed to be a goat cheese with a very mild flavor, it was slightly earthy and sweet. I know, what a weird combination, but it was super good. Based on the other a cow's milk cheese and had a very mild and forgettable flavor. But it's probably for the best to serve safe flavored cheeses at such parties. The ambiance at the Boundary was really nice for a wine tasting/pickup party. There were overestuffed chairs next to a fire in the fireplace, and plenty of seating around the bar. There was always someone staffing the wine pouring stations. Hopefully other wineries will take note and hold its wine pickup parties close to downtown. The Boundary is the perfect venue. 2022 - Review # 24
