Approximately 40 friends and extended family attended the gathering at the VFW Hall and Pat said some initial words that meant a lot to everyone. My husband renewed his membership 4 months ago (never received his card) Virginia said "you haven't received your card yet?" We said no, which should've been good enough for the bartender,( we are regular members) then we were waiting for Virginia to vouch for us, (never happened) the bartender ignored us, I told my husband "Let's go!" The whole exchange was embarrassing AND disrespectful! My husband will get his card, and plans to go to a different post. I won't go in there again, if he chooses to that's up to him. That bartender was a poor hire choice. She was abrasive and didn't even try to resolve the situation.

I showed up for a monthly meeting and a couple of officers came on over to introduce themselves which was much appreciated. I struck up conversations with several legionaries and they seemed like nice fellows. Senior leadership, and two in particular, treated me like I was something they stepped in which left me with a chilly feeling as far as becoming a member went. I was looking for a new post as I have been in Oregon for a very long time but never changed my home post. Found another post in the area that I like a lot better so I hope this post wasn't on a membership drive. I'm guessing they aren't since they seemed to have zero interest in having me as a member. But no worries. The American Legion is great and I am now attached to a post that I really like so it's all good.

The a la Grivois cocktail started the experience on a high note: amaro and vermouth together make for a velvety sweetness. The house green soup was a winner, I'm sure the French Onion would be also. We were there for prime rib night and their version rivals that at Clyde's: a hearty cut and full of flavor. At first glance, I was disappointment to see scalloped-type potatoes, but these were the best I've had. The warm bread and salad were above par. Great service by one of the long time waiters.
