In a very remote canyon of Tracy, (yes, there is such a place!). my dog locked me out of my truck, engine running and thank goodness so was the AC. We called a different company and was told to call a tow company, next call was to American Key Tech. was told gps said arrival would be 30 minutes. 30 minutes later my door was unlocked, an extra key made an both the tech and me were on our way! If I could leave this company more stars I would. definitely at least a 10 star company. In my opinion make American Key Tech your first call. read more

ZERO RATING : The employees at this business are crooks/ burglars. I called them to make a new key fob for my vehicle. One employee came to my home. Knocked on my door. I came out to explain what I needed. He got to working on making my key fob. He then knocked on my door 10 minute after he arrived and said he left a tool at the shop and needed to go and get it. He came back 30 minutes later with "another employee" I learned later that while one employee worked on making my car key fob, the other employee worked on copying my garage door remote control signal. For those that don't know what this means : Each garage door system has a secret signal that is programmed into your garage remote control that allows you to use your garage remote control to open your garage door. These employees brought back the tool that is used to steal a garage door remote control signal. This will allow them to open your garage door whenever they want to especially when you are not at home. These two employees shown in the video broke into my garage and shoved a little tiny piece of metal into my garage door entrance keyhole. They also shoved the same piece of tiny metal into my front door keyhole. What this did was set up a break in : Let me explain. The next day I came out of my garage door entrance into the garage, I turned to lock my garage door entrance to my home and could not lock it because there was a tiny object purposely shoved into the keyhole. This also set it up for me to not be able to step outside of my front door and turn to lock it Because there was also a tiny object purposely shoved inside the keyhole. Since they copied my garage door signal this allowed them to open my garage door to come into my garage Why ? Because they knew that i could not lock my garage door entrance allowing them to come inside my garage door entrance to burglarize my home. Two days later i got a call from my home alarm company that my garage door entrance had been opened. Full police report was made with Lathrop police department. I went to American key tech to speak with manager about what there employees had a done and manager defended there actions and seem to be apart of their actions telling me it's not true even after i showed him the video of them copying my garage door signal that my camera caught them performing. In the video see them using the signal capturing tool to capture the signal of my garage door system. See the employees body language of guilt. watch approaching employee nervous turn around when seeing co worker illegally stealing remote signal. see employee dip down below my car door avoiding being seen by my camera of their actions. read more

When somebody's property line has a no trespassing sign plus several no soliciting signs, and you continue to enter my perimeter to solicit and flyer my front door anyway, it tells me you have zero respect for customers while canvasing neighborhoods. Stay away from American Key Tech Locksmith! I had just picked up a used Mazda with my family from a dealer in Tracy. (Wonderful experience with him btw) We were recommended to go to American Key Tech Locksmith to get a spare key fob for this specific Mazda that is push to start. We are told over the phone the price is $250. We head over and pay the $250 (KEEP THIS IN MIND) and the service is done within the 20 minutes they said it would be but we are handed a key with a Toyota logo on it. We thought it was odd but the keys were basically identical so we didn't think anything of it so we go to try to start the car. It doesn't start for me and two of my other family members the first four times we try it. My mom goes back in to grab the guy and he is able to turn the car on. At this point there is now a notice on the dashboard that the car can no longer sense when a fob is nearby. It let us know there was clearly an issue here so we told him he needs to fix that issue and we will wait if he needs to call his owner an manager or whoever because mind you we just drove this car off the lot in great condition and spent the most of the day checking out the car. So you can imagine it's frustrating when someone brushes you off and tells you "it's fine it's fine" after they did something that would make you have to go get an additional service somewhere else to fix. We wait two and a half hours for this entire thing to be resolved for an advertised twenty minute service. The owner took a look at it and brought over the correct Mazda key and that ended up making the light on the dash go away. Shocker. Once they finished and the light was gone they took both keys inside. So my mom and I said bye my dad and grandpa so they could go home and we went back in to grab the key. We go inside and we are ready to take the keys and the guy who created the issue in the first place goes, "So you're going to pay $80?" Um? Pay extra for a problem you created that we then had to wait for you to resolve? And they are adamant about this $80 that number magically becomes $60 later on with no proof of that being a charge we should have paid just a receipt of what they paid for the key and trying to get us to pay the owner for labor (which we never saw proof of) he wouldn't have had to do if his employee didn't mess up the service. They tried to tell us that they had to buy another key that's why they need to charge us more. I understand stuff happens but when you knowingly mess up a service there has got to be a screw loose for you to ask us to pay to basically clean up the mess you made. The owner tried to tell us that the guy working on the car was using a Mazda key like my mom and I were crazy and didn't know what a Toyota logo looked like. They pulled out a Mazda key we hadn't seen before and tried telling us they tried to use that key and a whole bunch of nonsense because it was a wrong key then it was a right key and that isn't my family's fault they used the wrong key and thought they could get away with it. They literally stood there and LAUGHED at us when we were flabbergasted they even asked to try to charge us more after dealing with all of this. So anyway! After a very long time of arguing with them and going back and forth and explaining that since they messed up so bad why would we then have to pay more? It didn't make sense to them so we ended calling our dealer and he decided to handle it. But this is the #1 worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. I work in customer service and when an employee accidentally says a service is for example $190 instead of $220 the company takes the hit on that, which means we will price match and take a happy customer and $30 less rather than someone who's never going to come back and lose $190, 100% of the time so that the guest walks away with a good resolution and it makes them want to come back. It's not often but when someone doesn't charge someone correctly AND messes up their service, in no universe should you then charge the customers extra for a mistake YOU made. Absolutely horrible horrible experience pls if u have a Mazda or any car for that matter pls go to someone more reputable or just go to your specific car dealership. Stay away from this place. Go literally anywhere else. read more

Small locksmith shop just opened near the jack in the box. If you need anything key or lock related, you will most likely find it here. I had a couple of uncommon keys Ace Hardware was unable to complete. It took the employee a while to find the right keys. Seems like they're still settling in and trying to figure things out. American ended up having the keys on hand and cut them without any issues. They are capable of the following: Car keys & Remotes Ignition & Door Lock Repair Auto, Residential & Commercial They also have a van to respond to 24hr emergency services. read more

BUYERS PLEASE BEWARE! my mom went here today to get a new battery for the remote to her car, so they replaced her battery and when they were done my mom attempted to use her remote with the new battery and it still wasn't working, so she goes in to see if she can get a refund of course because it's not working and they refused to give her one. how are you not gonna give a refund for something that's not working? that is crazy to me she literally gave them money for free. Yes it was only $10 but it's the principle, you don't treat people like that it's not okay. Wouldn't recommend this place they steal people's money, I'd give 0 stars if I could. read more

I had a hard time getting a key made for the tonneau cover on my truck. Rose at Ace Hardware suggested AKT. I didn't get 2 feet in the door when I was greeted with a welcome and a Merry Christmas. I showed them my key and the young lady started looking at a huge selection of blanks. Pessimistic ol' me after about 3 minutes thought they're going to give up and I would have to live with my broken key. She didn't give up and kept going out to my truck to test the blank. To my joy, she came back in and said " I found it", with a big smile on her face. 2 minutes lateral I was given 2 precious keys. American Key Tech is now the only locksmith I will ever use. I could stay on yelp for an hour telling you about the wonderful, heartwarming experience I had there but I've gone on long enough.Go there and you'll see. Thanks AKT! read more

So I only paid what was quoted The office kept me on the phone for at least 15 minutes arguing back and forth Sent the tech on his way with a check for the quoted price Watch out! Be sure you know what they're quoting as they tried to tell me I was wrong even though they already admitted that the person who quoted " misunderstood " Also the tech almost sat on our seat with a screw driver in his pocket My husband kept telling stop ! Only gave 1 star because we had to Zero in my opinion read more
