I felt this was a very shady experience. I needed my U-Haul lock cut off my storage unit since I lost my key. I was quoted $89 on the phone. When the young man came, he said it was $90 plus a service fee of $80. I said that was not the price quoted to me. He said it was the best he could do. When I told him I had someone else that said they could do it for $100 and I would just go with other person, he said he would do it for $120. I said okay, then he drilled and hammered away at the lock with no success, breaking several drill bits. After a half hour, he said he needed another tool, and he would be back in an hour. An hour and a half later he showed back up with a saw. He still had to borrow a wrench from U-Haul staff just to put saw together. He finally got it done, but what should have been a job that took less than 30 minutes, took several hours of my day. Clearly, he had no experience in cutting off a U-Haul lock. Lock Changers is a mobile locksmith service based in Manteca. Dave runs his business by driving to you if you can't make it out to another locksmith shop. All I have to say and more is that Dave knows his craft! I had an unusual issue with my car where whenever I place the key into the ignition it wouldn't turn. I called Honda to ask them if they knew what was going on and they told me to contact a locksmith because it may be the tumblers inside the cylinder of the ignition not hitting the pins. I asked Honda for an estimate on an issue like that and it was quite a lot of dollar signs. The first business I contacted was Dave's lock changers. He gave me a very good price estimate before he has to come out. I'd figured I'll already go with him because the price was much better looking than the one Honda gave me. But Dave also suggested I could go to a more local locksmith shop in Stockton which would be cheaper and void the additional cost of him driving out to my location. He was very considerate to his local competition and did not want to take business away from them. But while on the phone with him and speaking to him about my issue he sounded very confident and knowledgeable about the problem which puts my mind at ease. And I want it fixed asap. He was very flexible and adaptable to my schedule because I had work in the afternoon. He came out right on time and the whole work lasted less than an hour as he had mentioned prior that it'd be an hour. Turned out the issue rooted from a worn out key. He made me a new key for my car and fixed the old one. Both keys work but the old one is definitely last resort. Dave is great we chatted it up while he was doing work and also showed me how things work with keys, locks, the tumblers and pins. There's more to it than you'd think. It's quite the intriguing and complex craft. We lost the key to a Budget Rental truck over the weekend, which was very stressful. I called their number a couple of times, days apart and left a voice mail asking for a service quote. They never returned my call. I called several more times and they never answered. The person on the voice mail box sounds like Napolean Dynamite. Maybe Napolean is too busy. Regardless, good customer service dictates answering messages at the very least. Dave is great and super helpful. Bought car for daughter and had after market key and remote that didn't work. He helped me to set remotes on new blank remotes and then he cut keys and was most reasonable of about 10 in the area. Nice man and very customer oriented. I need my locks rekeyed for my rental home, I was referred by a property manager to David. He gave me the best price which I could not believe comparing with all other quotes I got. He is not only a professional locksmith guy, he is also a really nice person. I tried to make a phone call in my backyard, my sliding door could not be closed, he spent a lot of time to help me out. The tenant changed the strike to my front door lock, David could ingore it as it was not his job, but he went to his car to look for a right one. He could not find a right size strike, he did find one which is still not right size but better. He installed this strike for me, and explained to me how to get a right strike in the store. He also told me several time if my handyman had any problem to install the strike or found the right size, call him. He could get lock done, get the payment and leave. But he spent so much time to try to help me out. I really appreciate David as a decent human being. I would refer him to anyone who need locksmith service. This review is for the experience I had a few months ago with LockChangers. I bought a used car that had a key that wouldn't open my trunk, driver passenger door or even lock my car from the outside so I decided to get a new key, especially since I kept locking myself out. I was recommended to LockChangers and Dave was prompt to answer the phone and set up an appointment that worked for both our schedules. He came a little late because he said he took longer than expected with a customer beforehand and it was rainy that day so I didn't really mind. He came and started working on my car right away and he also made small talk which is always nice. He explained to me that since it was a transponder key it'd be a little more expensive and it was $120 but to me it seemed like a good deal, he gave me the flat key just to keep on hand if I lock myself out again haha. The whole process took about an hour but being able to open my trunk and passenger door made it worthwhile, he finished just in time for me to leave for work and he left knowing he had a satisfied customer.
