Staff was nice. The car we bought turned out to be terrible. Stay away from American Imports.

Bought a 2016 Ford Focus from them and was told that it had a new Turbo installed on it that fully died after just barely a month of owning. Turns out it was installed back in MAY. Also the car had the blackest worst oil I've seen so it clearly didn't get a single oil change in the entire time they had it. It drove fine in the the test drive. Their words, "It left our lot running just fine right? Not our problem" Tried to talk to them for help and they pretty much washed their hands of. I wouldn't recomend them in any capacity if you want a car that won't need work right away. read more

If I could give less than a star--I would. Called to inquire about a particular car and found by doing a VIN check, there is a very serious recall on this particular vehicle. I will not go into details but was unable to speak to a real salesperson other than the receptionist. Got an extreme run-around...goes to show there are tactics being used if you do NOT do your own research! Have read previous reviews and will definately say "BUYER--PLEASE BEWARE. Will not choose to purchase a vehicle--any vehicle from this company .Saved my peace of mind and my money!! We were finally able to reach the dealership and fill them in on our trip home from their location. After my spouse explained it was a bad transmission and would need to be replaced they offered to help with the expenses. We ended up close to $4000 in repair costs and they offered to give us half $1300 on the transmission only. My spouse is okay with the results and the outcome, but I still would not recommend this dealership. They did attempt to be a reputable dealership and that is the best I can say for them, but it is not a place to go if you are looking for a reliable vehicle. read more

Bobby Pittman sold us a beauty of a used car without pressure or a major "owned by one old lady" sales pitch and we couldn't be happier. While it is a gamble to buy a car used and "as is" if you want to avoid a car payment this is a good place to start. We have always purchased from private owners for fear of an uncomfortable business dealing however, as mentioned Mr. Pittman was very nice to work with. I was nervous to buy my first car and I had been looking online for what felt like an eternity, when I finally found some SUV's within my price range. I know cars can fly off the lot, so I chose a few to discuss once I arrived. I was warmly greeted by the staff and a cute pup! They really listened and helped me choose a car suited to my needs. I've had this envoy for two years now and she still purrs like a kitten. Obviously, with any car it requires minor fixes here and there but the envoy has been a god send for me the past few years while I travel back and forth between school and home. This plays will straight fuck you. I bought a Nissan from there, test drove it and everything seemed to check out. To start, the car didnt have a price so I asked and he said $6000. So, I proceeded to go to the bank, but on my way there I saw the car listed on their website for $4500. If I didnt have looked, he would have charged me an extra $1500 dollars. He honered the price....but that didnt matter. The check engine light came on 36 hours after I bough the car. Brakes, Shocks, Rotors, and Calipers went bad and starting grinding within 5 days. And after spening $900 to get that all repaired, the exhaust shits out on me. The whole exhaust system needs replaced and a few shops ive taken to said it will be a couple thousand dollars to fix. Fuck you american imports. Im down almost 6 grand and the cars been sitting in the shop, 2 weeks out of the 3 ive had it. read more

These people are not at all upfront about what is wrong with their vehicles. Do not trust that they have fixed up their cars. We were going to buy a 2008 chevy equinox from them. took it for a test drive, and came back the next day to purchase it, but wanted to take it to a mechanic first. They were hesitant to let us take it to a mechanic and questioned us about why we would even want to do that (should've been our first hint they were hiding something). The mechanic said there was a serious fuel leak and we'd be lucky if we even got it back to the dealership. When we brought it back, they said "oh we knew it had a fuel leak, we could've told you that." They let us waste $100 on an inspection to find out something they should have told us, and should've fixed in the first place. Needless to say, we're not buying the car and we're out $100. read more

I purchased a subaru tribeca 06 from american imports. I drove up from brandenburg ky after seeing the car online and talking to a salesman. I was told all there cars go through a inspection and any repairs are taken care of. I drove up on a sat and it was pouring down rain. I drove the car and loved the way it drove. I asked the salesman about seeing the inspection of the car to make sure there were no oil leaks as subarus are know for them. I was assured there were no leaks and the mechanic was off so no way to put it up on a rack for my inspection or look at any repair paperwork. I took there word for it purchased the car and drove home..Very next day i noticed a drip on the garage floor. I contacted American Imports and was to to have it looked at and they would take are of it. I took to two reputable subaru mechanics and was told the leak was coming from the engine. It would be a 5000.00 fix. No help from American Imports. So Buyer Beware...have the car checked out by a reputable mechanic do not listen to these folks they will say anything to make a sale. I was to far away to go back and raise hell so at this point I am watching the oil and adding as needed. This fix is way to expensive to fix. read more

It's Been a year now since we purchased a 1999 Mustang for our granddaughter. We test drove it and didn't find any major problems. We purchased a extended 90 day warranty just to be safe. Took it home and Our granddaughter was ecstatic!!! the next day it started running hot. Upon further investigation we found out that antifreeze was getting into the oil pan through the head. Contacted American Imports and the Warranty co. Warranty company decided it was preexisting!!! Dealer said they would help get it straightened out. No Help!!! I then spent $3000 for a new (used) engine at a separate garage while the Owner at American Imports promised to refund my money spent on the extended warranty. one year later and many useless phone calls later NO MONEY BACK!!! I would highly suggest avoiding this business at all costs!!! read more

What a bunch of monkeys! Test drove two vehicles... one had a shattered window and the exhaust was loud, had a check engine light on... came back in that one and told them about it... they were shocked by it.. Test drove the 2nd one... wasnt bad but wanted a lot of cash for it, heat & A/C didnt work.. told them id fix it myself if they would drop the price.. wouldnt budge at all... The sales man was a dumb monkey that had no idea why this and why that about a cars parts. Lot full of junk with a shop that obviously doesnt know how to fix a car right to sell... Went to another lot and bought same type of vehicle that was LOADED and MUCH NICER and CLEANER for 300.00 more than they wanted for the dirty one they were trying to sell that needed work... IDK how they sell cars to people except the ones that have no idea what they are looking at or buying.... this lot I am sure laughs all the way to the bank with someones hard earned money!! If I could do less than 1 star I would. Went to look at a 2010 Honda Civic, called to make sure it was still available and told them I was coming in to look at it. When I arrived one of the owners had taken it to the store for grocery shopping. Since I had already driven an hour to get there I waited the 40 minutes for them to get back. When I looked over the car I noticed that it had 10,000 more miles than what it was listed for online, and the price written on the window was 3,000 more than what they had online. When I took the car on a test drive, I took it over to a mechanic, when we popped the hood the engine was severely rusted and it was burning transmission fluid. Then on the way back to the lot, it missed a shift. I told the gentleman that I was going to pass and that it wasn't for us. He responded with "What is it too white for you?" I was immediately taken aback, my boyfriend told him no, it missed it shift and then the guy began to argue with us stating that he put five miles on the car and knows its not missing. So we told him that it was burning transmission fluid to which he again argued with us about and tried to tell us we won't find a better car. Not once did he offer to show us another car, or ask us what we were looking for or what our price range was. Worst car shopping experience I have ever had. read more

I called before driving an hour to the other side of town to make sure they still had the car I saw listed online available. I was told that, yes, it was on the lot and they'd be happy to show it to me. I got there and was immediately told that someone else had put a deposit on it and I could not check it out. I informed them I had called and checked prior to coming and was told it was available. They just said, "well, that's how it goes some times". They said it was "reserved" the prior week and that's all there was to it. No apologies and no attempt to explain how it happened that the car I had called about an hour before was suddenly not available. I will not bother wasting my time checking them out any more and would advise you not to waste your time calling ahead since they don't seem to actually bother checking if what you want is available. It's also worth noting that the same car is still listed on their site as available 5 hours after my discussion at the lot with them about it not being there. read more
