We first received a quote from American Design and Build because they did our neighbor's house, but they quoted us $7,000+ for the same high quality work that Obrebski did for half the price! Chris came and did the quote for us. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to help us understand why the slider in our basement was leaking when it rained. There was zero pressure from Chris and he simply left us a quote to call and schedule if we were interested. Needless to say, we called and scheduled the next day! Michaela working in the office was super friendly and helpful with scheduling our install. From the day we signed the contract to the day the install occurred was just a few weeks. The day of install went smoothly and Chris was there as well. Their installers are all "in-house" contractors. They went above and beyond to clean up afterwards and the final product looked great! My wife called the main number to find out what was going on and we were told that our job was to small and they did not want to deal with the asbestos siding on my 86 year old house . Apparently they are unfamiliar with the fact that they are on Groupon so I had to call back when someone from the company was in the office to get on the schedule. They had availability for two weeks later. I wasn't in a rush so I don't mind the wait. I wasn't scheduled for the 12-4 time window. On the day of I had a work commitment that came up last minute. They were very accommodating when I called so I was pushed further back on the timeslot till after 3 PM so I could be home for the service. The technician Isaiah arrived and informed me what he was going to do. Afterwards he sent me a detailed report with photographs of my gutter system. Thankfully, everything looked good and I did not require any additional services after the cleaning and tuneup.

For the first time I realize I had been hearing a fair amount of outside noise (which I'd apparently gotten used to), because these windows/doors are soundproof; now I don't hear anything at all from outside! And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great. Highly recommended.

Due to no luck finding a door installation company on Thumbtack, Homeadvisor led me to Curtis and…read morehis company Air Tite. We live in an old house, and we bought the house with no storm door. We quickly learned it's because the door frame size is... weird. Home Depot, it would cost double the price of a normal door AND we'd have to install it ourselves. Curtis arrived on time on a Saturday morning and provided his options. He didn't try to tell us that we should actually expand the door frame, or harp on how it's crooked, etc. He said they can do it, and this is what the cost would be. It was about double the cost of the one we would want from Home Depot AND it included installation/haul away if we had another door. No pressure to order that day. We called him back within the week and were told it would be at least three weeks before the custom door arrived. Unfortunately, in that time Baltimore experienced a horrible cold snap, but he did inform us it would be at least three weeks. On the three week mark, we called, left a voicemail, and emailed. Curtis responded by email and let us know it would arrive that week and he'd call us over the weekend. No call... so I emailed again and we set the installation up via email for the coming week. His team arrived on time and got the job done in about 1.5 hours. It looks and works great. We will consider using them for our back door next. Great work at honestly, an expensive yet fair price when you find out how much Home Depot would charge for custom doors.

I had a terrible experience with Artisan Glass Works. I order the sample set to choose the best…read morematch for my 1912 Victorian home. The order was delivered and looked OK on initial inspection, so I removed my original broken pane and installed the new pane. As you can see from the picture, it looks like they just took a sheet and randomly took a hammer to it. This type of "ageing" was not apparent on the samples. Artisan Glass took no responsibility for the faulty production and could only offer a 20% discount, as "the glass had already been installed". Look elsewhere for historic glass. There are better companies out there who stand behind their products and ensure their customers have the type of glass they expect.
