I love the Providence location because the pizza is equally as delicious, but the addition of bowling in Davis makes it even better for outings. I actually like this place a lot, but both times I've been and sat at the bar, the same bartender messed up my order twice. The food is still great regardless and she is extremely sweet, so i couldn't be that mad. I commend the beer selection and the variety of organic and locally grown options. I just wish they had the option of whole grain or whole wheat for their pizza dough. Overall, id definitely go again, i just hope the bartender will pay a bit more attention next time :) read more

Just had my son's 5th birthday party at Sacco's bowl haven and Flatbread pizza. It was an great experience and they made me look good....actually they made me look really really good. Everyone was super accommodating despite the size change in my party and I am very grateful for that as I know that it can be difficult. The service was great...attentive and anticipatory. Waited for 50 minutes to get a spot on Friday night. Food was good - wouldn't say worth that long a wait but it helped that we had a good group of friends waiting together. The pizzas were great - you have to see the guy that flips the dough. We had the Equilibrium, Community flatbread, and the meat special with sweet potato and bacon. Their flatbread is AMAZING. it is hot crisp, cheese melts in your mouth and just heavenly. what can you ask more from a flat bread! it came right out of their oven, and you can see them bake it from afar. the flat bread is not expensive at all. They have many vegetarian option as well. So, spending my teenage years in North Jersey in a suburb of NYC made me a pizza snob but I LOVE flatbread's pizza. The crust is thin, the toppings are made from fresh, all natural ingredients. They also have great salads and an amazing beer selection (mostly from smaller local breweries). Every Tuesday they host fundraising nights for local schools and organizations. If you want to bowl, don't go here and don't bother spending your money on their shit pizza. My roommate made arrangements for his birthday to bowl here, he called at 10 am requesting a "reservation" for 4:30 pm on a Saturday, and they said ok. We get there 45 min. before our reservation and are told there are 12 parties ahead of us (for the record they called him at 10:30 pm that night asking if he was ready for his lane) and that it may take some time. SO, we ask for a table so we can eat some food and are told there is a separate reservation list for tables, ok, we put ourselves on it. Fast forward two hours later we are told they have too many reservations to accommodate us, because table reservations are separate to bowling and therefore we need to break our party up to ever be seated (we had a party of 12). About 30 min. later my roommate went to check in about the bowling lane and before he could say anything he heard the host ask the other hosts (yeah, why do they need multiple hosts?) on whether we had been "taken care of" or rather decided to leave for our dining table reservation, nice. My roommate turned around and ordered pizza for take out at the bar just not to ruin the night for everyone. Going to Pinocchio's in Harvard would have been worth the drive and the headache. Find a car, go to lane's games and eat beforehand to avoid the overpriced food that they coerce you into getting by shoving you on a never ending waiting list for bowling. It's is not worth it. Also, to the establishment, you don't need to employ four people to roast, peel, and cut red bell peppers, just teach one person how to use their hands and a knife. read more

I freakin' love this place! As a glutard (gluten-free individual) I suffer from inability to meet my weekly pizza quotient. The Flatbread Company helps me out with that. (As does Naked Pizza and Trader Joe's Gluten Free Frozen Pizza.) I'm planning on going candlepin bowling tomorrow night. But the pizza has always been great. The server I had last time was absolutely stellar. I love the giant oven that looks like a clay hole in the ground. Tip for the gluten-sensitive, as opposed to the allergic: upon request, the staff will heat the gluten-free crust directly on the surface of the oven, giving the crust a crisper texture than if they do it in foil, to prevent contamination of gluten. read more

Good place by Davis Square to get a pizza ("flatbread" to be precise). The small sized one is more than enough for one person. I had the cheese & herb flatbread to which I added roasted chicken. I'm always wary of burned pizza crusts when I see the ovens as the main focus of the restaurant when you walk in. Surprisingly the crusts came out perfect and the flatbread was delicious. There is a bowling alley attached to the restaurant for those looking for something to do before/after. read more

I like it here. They have a gluten free/ vegan pizza option. Which is great! My only complaint is that they never cook the gluten free crust until cripsy - it comes out kind of soggy. I will usually have to re-cook the pizza in my oven if I am picking up or have to specify that I want it cooked and not soggy. The gf crust they use is also a bit small. I wish it came in larger sizes. read more

A half a year ago I would have given this place 5 stars. Great thin bread pizza and fun atmosphere with bowling alley. Fairly quick service and convenient location. Two reasons for docking stars. First, the last two times I had the food delivered it wasn't up to their previous standards. Not sure if this is due to large orders or a quality slipping. Hadn't had that problem before. Willing to give them benefit of doubt on that one. Bigger issue is that the last two times in there we saw a mouse run across floor by our table (same general location months apart). When we let the server know, he didn't seem too concerned. The idea of mice in dining room sort of turned me off from eating there. If they fixeed those two issues I'd go back to 5 rating. read more

Very cool concept; candlepin bowling, local ingredients for pizza, regional beers and a full bar. I did really appreciate that the emphasis on local resources didn't result in a mark-up in prices - all the beers are around $4-5, and the individual pizzas are around $11 and the larges around $16. The management is still ironing out some kinks, I think. We were meeting a friend there for dinner, so we decided to wait for him at the bar. The bar, the lanes, and the dining area are like discrete entities operating independently, so it was confusing to figure out where you sign up for lanes, where you put your name down for a table, and where you can drink and wait for your name to be called. Instead of calling your name they call your cell phone, which can be tricky to be aware of in a crowded bar with the crashing of pins nearby. All the lanes for the entire night had already been reserved when we got there at 6 PM, so we just opted for a drink while we waited. I would like to see some more variety. Still, it helped make the 30 minute wait for a table pass by more quickly. We first ordered three individual pizzas to share: the basic tomato and cheese, and then meat and veggie specials. They came out promptly, steaming hot from the oven. The cheese was ordinary; I was hoping for identifiable globs of cheese on the crust, but it looked the same as any pizza joint. The meat special - meatballs, peppers, onions - was better, but the meatballs were dry and and toppings did not adhere to the crust, but rather slid around. The veggie was the one outstanding pie - butternut squash, carmelized cranberries, gobs of goat cheese (!!!). I think Zing's Blue October is better in its complexity and unique flavor combination, but Flatbread gets props for trying. read more

I wish I could review the actual food, but unfortunately Flatbread gave away our order. We ordered delivery and even though the app told us our pizzas had been delivered, we hadn't seen or heard from our driver. When we called Flatbread, they told us that our driver had just picked up the wrong order and they would call us right back. When they did call back, they told us it would be another hour; they had given away our food entirely and would have to remake it. They did not offer expedited delivery or a discount - they expected us to pay full price for our food with a two hour wait. We cancelled and went to All Star Pizza Bar. read more

Ok - the pizza is good, but... The chocolate brownie ice cream dessert is phenomenal! Dude, they heat it in a frickin' fire pit thing! Ingredients are organic and local - they even source some stuff from the farmers market next door in the summer! The pizza's are creative - though I like the simpler ones with maybe some red sauce and mozzarella - or a drizzle of balsamic glaze - or was it cranberry glaze? Now I'm getting hungry. The wood burning fire ovens are really used to cook the pizzas and are great to watch. The location is actually a bowling alley that's been restored. Well, not really bowling....Candlepin Bowling... but still. The long bar is stocked with local gins (hooray!!!) and is backed by a rail/fence that allows you to watch the (sometimes) hunky guys that are trying their game on the lanes. I think the tables or chairs or something were made from reclaimed flooring from the lanes that were removed for the restaurant. Cool little lights on the ceiling that look like pool balls - not sure why the look like that in the bowling alley - but it's still fun. It seems that the place often seems cold - so if you think you might be cold, try to get a spot next to the fireplaces. read more

I've come here a couple times to bowl at Saccos, but it's always been super busy and I haven't bee able to. However, this past weekend I went with my boyfriend and a group of our friends. We ate here while we waited for a lane to open up. It was fantastic! Our waitress was super nice and very accommodating. I am allergic to wheat/gluten and they have gluten free pizzas and desserts. It felt really great to be able to eat virtually the same thing as my friends instead of watching them eat delicious pizza while I pretend my salad is better. The gluten free pizza is actually really good too. It's definitely not a frozen generic crust, because it's not a perfectly circular pizza. The bowling was super fun, food was great, and service was spectacular. We will definitely be coming back! read more

From the outside, you'd think Flatbread is the half attempted pizza shop in a bowling alley. And you'd be half right. But little do you know that behind the unassuming brick exterior lies the Mecca of delicious all-organic pizza. This amazing dining hall sits feet away from a retro bowling alley and serves up the tastiest pies north of the Charles. And literally everything they made was local and organic. Everything. They even told me about the roof garden they had. I ordered the local iced tea (unsweetened) and the Homemade Sausage (I'm a connoisseur of sorts) individual pizza. Both were delicioso. Super fresh tasting ingredients (duh) and amazing flavor. Plus, I had enough pizza left over for dinner...okay maybe I finished it on the T ride home. It was too good to let sit in a dark cardboard box! Definitely a must go. Lunch was fantastic and relaxed. I've heard it gets really packed during dinner and drinks but I'm determined to push through the huddled masses. Really want to try their Whisky Peach Smash next time! Please, tell me, is there anything better than getting a big group of friends to go candlepin bowling while munching on tasty pizza and drinking a wide variety of local beer on tap? Wait, forget it, I don't want to know. Flatbread is a great destination for all of the above. Unfortunately, you have to reserve a lane or two in advance to guarantee you can bowl (usually calling in the afternoon for an evening reservation) and all of your party has to be present and prompt, otherwise they WILL give away your lane if you aren't careful, but it's worth it. Even if you get there late and miss your reservation, you can still enjoy the pizza and beer at a table that is made up of old bowling lane material and wait for an opening. Although, man, if there was any way they could double the amount of lanes they had it would be the absolute perfect spot! Service is usually pretty attentive at the lanes; I've been there with parties ranging from 7 to 20ish and the waitresses seem to be able to spot an empty glass a mile away. They are friendly and helpful if you have to move from table to lane with your food as well as dealing with splitting a check between multiple groups. I was also super impressed the last time I went: My boyfriend and I had eaten about half of our large pizza while bowling but somehow it disappeared between turns. I asked the waitress if she had accidentally taken it away, and when she said she hadn't and asked around she started thinking someone had nabbed our pie. Without hesitation she put in an order for a brand new pizza! If that isn't considerate service, I don't know what is. Usually their special pizzas are the best bet as their variety is a little limited if you become a regular (although I hear they make a mean gluten-free pie) and while it's not the absolute best pizza I've ever had, it satisfies the hunger that comes from bowling three games in a row. read more

NIce little hidden place in Davis Square...a very rustic and family friendly pizza place next to a bowling alley. Whereas the salad was despite its organic-ness somewhat 'meh', the pizza is up there with the Emma's and Pizzeria Postos (which I have recently reviewed). The crust is really delectable and I tell myself that you can tell the difference between the stone oven and a "conventional" pizza oven. Not that i'm the first to recommend this, so it's not really a secret but this pizza is one of the best in the Cambridge/Boston area. read more

In the end, I like the bowling and the beer, but the flatbread is not delicious. It's fine and crispy, but the final product does not add up to more than the sum of its parts. I adore Flatbread. Great fresh, high quality ingredients. The sea weed on the salad might sound odd, but it is actually delish. Good for lunch or dinner when the family comes to town, eating with friends, or going on a casual date. It can get a little loud sometimes since they share a large space with a bowling alley, but if you go at a time that is less popular for bowling, you'll be fine. read more
