A fabulous 1950's style diner in town. It's a diner and an American store which is located on the 1st floor of the building. There is also an Hawaiian bar on premises which is open in the evenings. Great atmosphere, juke box classics and friendly service. The menu was classic diner style with burgers, hot dogs, nachos, milkshakes and a few other bits and pieces. I loved the poutine which was probably the only non American thing on the menu ;-) Fresh cut fries topped with gravy and cottage cheese and here it also included some mozzarella balls. The Mexican burger was excellent and the burger cooked to perfection (medium rare). If you don't like thus ask the waitress to ensure your burger is cooked right through. For me a good burger should be served medium rare. The banana milkshake was fantastic and a meal on its own :-) All in all a great experience and would happily repeat again. read more

I'm very happy that we FINALLY have a diner in Geneva!!! This place hasn't done much advertisement yet as it has opened mid September 2013 (less than a month ago). We passed in front and that's how we discovered this place. As mentioned in reviews before, the diner is part of a well known American and British market in town that exists for years and years. Decoration: The deco is AMAZING and much better than most of the diners in the US. It does remind a lot like diners from the Hollywood movies and it gives a pleasant feeling that you are part of something great! I can only give ALL the stars to the decoration and the fact that they made an amazing place in a short space and there's even one table for 9 people that is very comfortable. Service: Service is really great! A blond lady and an older guy were TOP, also another young guy who didn't seem to speak French! They were really running everywhere and helping and talking to everyone, even if it was quite chaotic and hard to control the people queuing. I've realized that in Switzerland people are less used to queue, in the US we saw many restaurants where people just queue and wait calmly, which was not in the case while I was at the American Dream Diner and people were quite agitated. They maybe need to create a hostess system where they take note of the name of the people queuing and who's first. People were lost but it seems it's just not part of the local culture to queue for a restaurant. Food: OKAY, this is the reason why I give 4 starts. Food wasn't great. I had many better burgers before, not only in the US but also in Geneva. Burgers are HUGE, this can be a good point for the ones with big appetite, however, they are not tasty. Meat is blend, sauce is not special at all, bread is not as fresh as it could be. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. Although, the fries with cheddar were actually pretty amazing. We also tried the coleslaw as everyone was having a free sample when they arrive at the diner (which we though it was very kind of them and everyone appreciated) and the coleslaw was really good too, quite healthy and without much sauce and without being so sweet as many others, but it was DAMN GOOD! They also give us nice candies with the bill and it was sweet and yummy =) Overall, the experience was good and we can't wait to go back to try the hotdogs and milkshakes as the place is pretty awesome! If the burgers were amazing, we would never leave this place. If we could get the burger from INGLEWOOD or BLAQK and have the place of American Dream Diner, it would be a great combination... but guess we can't have it all! I would also love if they had American breakfast (at least on week-ends), that would be FREEEEAKING AWESOME and there're not many other places in town to compare the quality either haha... not like burgers where Geneva has some pretty decent places already. read more

(En français plus bas) One puny coleslaw, ognion rings, 1 cheeseburger, 1 drink, 1 malt shake: 50 bucks Here it is: -The coleslaw, tasted like: mold. -The oignon rings were cookie-cut industrial rubber squids straight from Aligro freezers. -The burger should not have had the word "meat" nor "American" anywhere near it. It was some thin, dry kind of patty with an orangy powder to hide whatever it was really made of and/or its expiration date. -The only thing I can vouch for is the malt shake (and decor) but only because I've not found another place that makes them around here yet. Just hope the Hygiene Commitee or Flavor Police go there asap and close it down definitely; but popular boycott will work soon enough. People, not all consumers are stupid: shiny glitzy red and white tabletops catch our eyes, but our mouths can tell when it's bland cheap frozen produce from across the border that you multiplied by 12. This diner looks like what you would find on the highway in the 50's. Appropriately so, because this place's specialty is HIGHWAY ROBBERY! 40 euros for an over cooked burger with a dry-as-bone bun, a side of sweet potato fries that were more oil than potato, and a teeny tiny, flat root beer float. The service was bad, too. Our order came out little by little and in no particular order. The waitress was barely polite and seemed like she would rather die than smile. At one point she brought out a plate of chili when we had clearly ordered the cheese sticks. She then proceeded to say "No, you said chili...". Then she checked her note pad and saw that he was right. (Even so!) Anyway, you can get a much better deal in Geneva by just sticking with a sure bet: McDonald's or Burger King. It will cost you a fraction of what this place is asking for and you'll surely enjoy your meal! read more

I went there on opening day. Needless to say that it was hectic as all the curious fans were there to try out this diner that seems to have fallen out from a page of the 50's history. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you travelled back in time. The music, the deco, the staff in old-fashion uniforms with big smiles on their faces.... make you think of simpler times. The menu is pretty good. The cheapest hamburger is about 15 bucks and is more than enough for the most people. I could barely finish mine. Everything is fresh. It's so good to finally have a nice place to hang out and have a really nice meal without ending up in cheap fast-food joints. The thing that made me smile the most is the free refill on drinks. I had yet to see a place do that in Europe. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The details of this diner are stunning. Even the phones are vintage rotary and they work. The mini-jukeboxes on each table also look like the real deal and not cheap imitations. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some time away from the usual places. read more

Being from the U.S. it was very interesting to see this place here in Geneva. The poppers were tasty but the food portions in general were quite small. The cheese fries were subpar but they had a nice chipotle mayo sauce that you can dip them in so that helped. Ordered a Reece's shake but it turned out to be a peanut butter one rather than a vanilla one with Reece's in it. Overall, probably one of the best places to get American food in Geneva, but still not completely 'American'. read more

In the Sunday evening, I just desperately wanted to have a American dinner so I found this place. Amazing decoration of old American style as well as the food. The cheese burger was more than what I expected. The beef was juicy and tasty with the vegetables. The chips were little bit dry but with a big quantity. Great ambiance. OK burger and onion rings and fries. Actually, the food is close to what you would get in a real diner in the states. Not gourmet, but average. The meat was bland, but the toppings were good. The burgers are HUGE, so we were too full to try dessert. We must go back because they have milk shakes, malts, and root beer floats!! Not a fuzzy eater and usually never write reviews. However, make an exeption since the whole experience was dissapointing. In terms of capturing the 'American diner' experience, despite the diner look, there is nothing else that compares. I would summary in 2 words' minimal effort' No menu in english ( american:-) Meat on burger extremely dry with strange aftertaste Ordered cheeseburger but cheese was almost cold and certainly not melted Buns cold and dry I dnot know how to make good fries but my howmmade still lot better Asked 3 times for mayo, finally got about1 gram in a fingercup Coleslaw well below average. The place is small and tight which is as should be if modelled afer us diners, however, difficult if in a larger group or with pram.
