My 3 stars is based on how difficult it is to get them to fix their own mistakes. ***Updated May 31, 2017*** Changing this back to a 1 star review. No credit on credit card and Stephanie didn't take my phone call. ***Update May 24, 2017*** As of 2:30 PM today I hadn't heard back from Stephanie, so I called up and was told that she ran a credit through on my card today. I believe her. When asked about what happened, initially she stated that American Overhead Door is transitioning to a new system. So they have an old system and a new system that they are moving to. Sometimes people will submit a bill twice. When informed that I actually got a telephone call requesting the CCV number again the next day for that charge, Stephanie stated that there must have been a miscommunication between the 2 schedulers. She couldn't think of any other reason. I've changed from a 1 star review to a 4 star review because * Honesty is huge with me * The fact that they were able to come to my house the day after I called them for the repair. * The contractors, engineers, and consultants I've talked to have indicated that they have been a reasonable company. It's a 4 star instead of 5 star review review because * Didn't return my phone call when they credited my card or do any research on what exactly caused the issue. * I paid $112 for installation of a less than $15 part (anybodies price for Ace hardware's MOST expensive locking handle) that took less than an hour of time, that includes all travel time. * They still have no system/process with training in place to stop this from happening again. * I had to spend an hour of my own time, which I was NOT reimbursed for, to attempt to troubleshoot the issue with their lack of process and training. ***Original Review*** We had American Overhead Door Replace a garage door T-Handle on May 10, 2017. They charged us $112 on May 10, 2017. Then called me up the next day stating they didn't have my CCV code to run the charge. I hadn't checked to see if the charge ran through, so I gave it to them. They then ran the charge for $112 again on May 11, 2017. It is May 23, 2017 now. I called American Overhead Door today at 4 PM and spoke with a gentleman who never offered his name. I was told that the accountant's name who I needed to speak to was Stephanie (spelling not verified) and she was gone for the day. I requested Stephanie call me back tomorrow and indicate exactly what happened, what they are doing to prevent it from happening again, and why it wasn't caught in their system. I will update this review as soon as I have heard from American Overhead Door.

5/27/2017 Update: While the below story remains accurate, there is now more to add to it (in a good…read moreway!). In an effort to make this right, the owner of the company contacted me earlier this year to apologize and discuss what he could do to help. He had the collection account closed and the collection agency removed their entry from my credit report. Obviously, I wish this had never happened in the first place, but it's great that the owner decided to step in and do something about it. Thank you! As such, I'm changing this review to 3 stars. Original review follows: Atrocious customer relations. I called to ask them about a potential issue with my garage door. I was told that, since my home was on the way for an employee the following morning, someone would stop by to take a look. There was no discussion of a charge for this, neither implicitly nor explicitly. That person did stop by and was both courteous and helpful. However, he was only here for a few minutes and told me there was nothing they could do about the issue. Again, no discussion about a charge took place (though I'd happily buy the guy lunch in exchange for the few minutes he spent). A month or so later, I received a bill for this experience and a threat to take it to collections. The office refused to offer any sort of compromise or attempt to acknowledge the oddness of this bill. While I thought a dialogue about it was still ongoing, they went ahead and sent it to a collection agency. Despicable.

I purchased 20' of seal to do two doors. He comes out from the back with a 20' piece. So about a $100.00 later I get home and instal the seal. The channel pushes the bubble out the front of the door. It is a single groove and the bubble needs to be under the door, not in front of it. So I swing back through and talk to Mr Know it all and tell him the issue. No refunds and that's all they have and I'm stuck with it. Lost a customer and wouldn't recommend them.
