My past two dental insurances only cover this service for children 16 and under and is not covered for adults. The hygienist said it was covered and I ended up having to pay OOP. Two hygienists have verbalized it in this way. It's likely a 2 minute procedure that lets them make $40-50 hence why they do this. It's not a good business practice to not clearly and fully inform the patient. Parking is good, dentist is good. Equipment seems very updated and has the TV screen that you can watch from the chair. They seem to be taking COVID very seriously with precautions. Automated text appointment reminders are a plus. Their website for filling out forms and consistency/clarity of instructions is lacking. Also their tablets for filling out the information is not the most responsive.

Not to mention how often I had to take off of work for dental appointments. Long story short: my teeth and gums suck. I finally feel confident when I smile.

However, when I arrived for my next appointment, they claimed I did not have an appointment for the filling. Instead, they had scheduled me for a deep cleaning, which I never agreed to. During the visit, they pressured me into getting the deep cleaning, insisting that it was necessary before they could proceed with the filling. They also threatened to charge a cancellation fee if I refused. When I asked to continue my original treatment and complete the filling as planned, they flatly refused. They made it clear that unless I agreed to the deep cleaning, they would not proceed with my treatment and would impose a cancellation fee. This experience made me feel that they are highly unprofessional and more focused on making money than providing honest, patient-centered care.

They are always prepared for our visits, estimates are prepared ahead of time and provided in writing meaning there are never any surprises and you always know what to expect before your visit. Although we had active insurance, we were still sent a bill. When we contacted the office for clarification, the front desk staff were not helpful and came across as rude and dismissive in their responses. Each time we asked why our insurance had not been applied, we were repeatedly told that updated insurance information should have been provided at check-in, even though we had already submitted it. When we tried to understand the situation, our concerns were not properly addressed and the communication felt unprofessional. We then contacted our insurance company directly, and they confirmed that no claim had initially been submitted by the office. The insurance company later handled the matter, and the claim was processed, resulting in a zero balance. We hope the office improves its billing procedures and front desk communication, as this experience did not reflect the quality of care provided by the dentist.

Him and his staff were very...well...Kind. After all, it's their first name. Their office is a little small, just a couple of chairs, assistants, and a solo dentist, so I felt like my family got the attention we deserved. It would be nice to have some refreshments like I've seen at other places, but we got the typical dental hygiene kit at the end of our visit, and the kids even got a little toy as well. Dr. Yi recommended I fill in a chipped part of my tooth but said I'd rather monitor it as my dental plan kinda sucks. Lol. I appreciate that he wasn't pushy and seemed to give good, truthful advice. Unfortunately, my next visit will be for dental work, but I do look forward to coming back here for checkups.

Despite good dental health, I was fearful and hesitant find another dentist after transitioning to a new insurance plan and new work location (from Washington DC to Northern Virginia). I had been at my previous dentist for nearly 12 years. It turns out, change is good! I've found that those areas that were frequently listed as "watch and monitor" did in fact require action by way of filling. Listen, bad news doesn't get better with time when it comes to a weak spot in your tooth enamel. I found the staff to be very professional and incredibly personable! I saw Dr. Jenny Cheung. Dr. Cheung took the time to listen to my concerns (some aesthetic and some functional) and provided great advice and recommendations. I feel my smile is improved and I have a renewed interest in wearing my night guard each night (she found the right words to motivate me to form a new habit.) I loved how she used distraction techniques to minimize my thought of having a Novocain needle "pinch" or sting before getting a filling. The whole experience (from parking to payment was first rate.) The highlights: - Dr. Cheung has been on-time for both appointments (I was in the dental chair within 5 minutes of my appointment time). - The waiting area has current magazines to read (nobody likes to read magazines from 2013!) - The bathroom has toothbrushes and toothpaste for a quick freshen (for those post work/school appointments). - The front desk staff let me know an estimate of "patient responsibility" based on my insurance prior to making my follow-on appointment. This is huge to me as if I know I have a $2200 responsibility, I may choose to schedule a month or two out to avoid putting dental work on a credit card if at all possible. My situation wasn't bad at all, but I could certainly see where having the information up front could help a person plan for the necessary work. - Appointments can be made on ZocDoc (often times I work in cubicle land which doesn't allow for privacy at work, so having the ability to quietly schedule online is a bonus). - Free parking (my previous dentist was nearly $21 to park each time) I look forward to having a new 12 year relationship with a dentist! See you in 6 months!
