Yes I called 32 times while on 285 driving in the direction of American Deli to place my order!
    Shemeka B.

Visited 2/9/19 I work in the area and this is where most of my Colleagues will grab lunch and if we do anything special for the Students we order from this American Deli! So on a Saturday I am in the area and decide to call and place an order for my family... I called 32 times while I was still driving on 285. Like really... In the past I've seen the Staff purposefully take the phone off the hook so I assumed this is what they decided to do. I finally go through and was able to place my order but once I pulled up there were really no Customers inside. So again why did I have to call 32 times? My food was really good and I'm sure I'll be back within the next 2 weeks or so. The last time I wrote a review about this American Deli I shared my experience of a lot of people just sitting inside and there was no where for the paying Customer to sit. On this visit there were men out front of the American Deli asking for money.... I know times are hard. I gave the $5.00 cash that I had in good faith that it was honest and God will bless me and my Family.I'd never seen this at the American Deli and it should be corrected.

Thinnest, most overcooked burger patties I've ever attempted to choke down.

They are friendly but expect to wait due to the customer service. The food is pretty good takeout but there is usually a wait.

They do have multiple…read morelocations, but we went to the Hapeville location since we weren't aware of the others and wanted to avoid long wait times. Our party consisted of six people, and as you can see from the photos, everyone ordered something different no two dishes were the same. We started with the Craft Mimosa. Our first flavor was watermelon, which is shown in the photo. It was very good and had a strong watermelon flavor. The second flavor we tried was passion fruit, which wasn't my favorite. For a table appetizer, we chose the macaroni balls. They were fried to perfection on the outside, but unfortunately, when I bit into mine, it was cold on the inside, which was a bit disappointing. For my entrée, I ordered the Foul Play (chicken and waffles). I asked for the toppings on the side just in case I didn't like them. The waffle was delicious and didn't even need syrup. The chicken breast was fried well and paired nicely with the waffle. Overall, even though the dish was simple, it was a great choice. Our waitress was very nice and informative. She explained the most popular and top-ordered items, which really helped with our selections. Inside decor was pretty. There was also a bar if solo diner will like to sit there. Will I return? Yes indeed I will.

The positives; Saturday at 10am and a party of 5 we were sat immediately ,the food came out quickly, menu has something for everyone. food was served hot. The food is tasty. We got chicken and waffles, omelette, French toast, pancakes, and a mocha coffee. Everything was solid. The negatives while we were sat quickly but it took a while for someone to take our order about 2 minutes which is too long. The server was not very happy to be at work, they weren't rude but also not just . We had a small mix up with our food as a side of spinach was put on the wrong plate which wouldn't have been an issue but we weren't all family so sharing after an item was eaten no one wanted to share. Lastly, we asked for a box and had to get it ourselves. Would I go back? Yes! I know this reviews seems harsh but overall it was a good experience.

For the main course, my girlfriend had the turkey wing with rice, and she really enjoyed it. She said the seasoning was on point and full of flavor. I ordered the fried shrimp with collard greens and candied yams. The candied yams were definitely a highlight -- sweet, flavorful, and cooked just right. The collard greens, though, didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked -- almost like they may have been canned. The iced tea was really good, and my friend enjoyed her glass of wine. One thing to note: everything is served in styrofoam containers with plastic flatware instead of traditional plates and silverware. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. They do offer a military discount, but it only applies to the individual with the military ID -- not the entire table if you're dining with family or on a date. I appreciate that they acknowledge service members, but it would be nice if the discount extended to the whole party. Overall, it was a great experience with very good service, and I'd probably go back again. If you're in the Hapeville area and craving some soul food, it's worth checking out.
