Please do NOT hire this company. The bad reviews are all very REAL! Most of the good reviews are FAKE from current employees and their friends. Their better business has been REVOKED and had an "F"!!!! Ohio Swims / American Construction has ongoing lawsuits from multiple customers. They are professionals at being sued and experts of deceit. Do NOT trust Bill Foster in anything he says. In our experience he is truly a CONMAN and running a fraudulent business. Do not trust Erika either. She will tell you what you want to hear. We do not understand how he is still in business based on the ongoing lawsuits and issues. He talks a good talk but please do not believe him. We were also fooled and paid the price. Our pool has taken over two years to be done and was never fully finished. It was to be six months. It was a nightmare beyond our wildest dreams of how bad it could be. We were forced to call a thousand times and beg for a response and action. We would be ignored for days, weeks and months. We consider ourselves lucky to have done what was done and believe it was due to the persistent ongoing follow up from my husband. At times we gave up due to getting so tired of the game. We would get extra charges for nonsense. The charges would be sent out of the blue. Pay close attention to the quote and contract because as time goes on you realize a lot of the contract charges are bogus. For example, we paid for salt water system but they never installed it. We never had a project manager. Maybe a year in we got one but he didn't last. We then got another. And then another. And then another. Explaining and providing clear details of open items and any issues. They all quickly learned and left because of the incredible lack of ethics of Bill Foster and company. We have a long list of the issues. Our grout and plaster is terrible. Holes and gaps all over. Coping had no grout at all. The placement of the equipment is ridiculous. Our pool continues to leak. We have unfinished items and safety concerns. This is only a snippet. Do you want a hole to be dug and then wait over a year for action to be taken? Do you want your backyard to be a hazard and when your pool is going to be built, have the guys put it in the wrong place? Do you want them to re-dig everything as they forgot to put in water lines? Do you want them to have to re-dig up the gas lines as it was down wrong? Do you want a company who doesn't have their employees use an accurate drawing? Then, when you try to get a true copy, you get charged an extra $1500? Do you want workers to show up with the wrong color plaster - completely wrong - and thank goodness you are there to catch it? Do you want to have to be home to oversee and make sure things do not get done wrong? We were forced to take time off work and be home on multiple occasions due to the ongoing errors every time they would show up. Constant and excessive hand holding. IF the pool would have been done great and perfect and we waited for over 2 years with no communication and direction and lived a nightmare, then that's one thing. At least we would have this. However this was NOT the case and we are afraid of not only the visual issues but what about the issues we cannot see? We live in the same area as the pool company within 20 minutes. I can't imagine if you are of distance. Good luck. Also, nobody will fix it if they hear Bill Foster is connected. He has a reputation. Ask around. PLEASE BELIEVE THIS and other bad reviews. Our family does not want the same thing to happen to other families. Your hard earned money should not be stolen from this company. With the Better Business revoked this year this alone should alert there is a major issue with this company. If only it would be revoked before we signed and made the worse decision of our life by trusting Bill Foster and his company. BUYER BEWARE!!! If this review is seen by any potential customers, I urge... no I beg you not to use this company. They are crooks!!! Trust me when I write that I am not the only previous customer who has had major issues. My contract was signed in March 2021 and I was told a completion date of summer 2021. The summer went by and not a single communication... no calls, no emails, nothing. Suddenly, I get a knock on my door in November 2021 from two random strangers asking how they are going to get through my recently constructed fence. My response... "who the **** are you?". Never once was I notified of them coming to start work or I would have been more prepared as far as the fence. Of course, I knew there would be yard damage and repairs. This was obviously expected, but never did I expect them to dig in my front yard where my leech lines are. There was never an explanation for this stupidity, not surprisingly. Digging in the backyard was done and apparently so was their work. I did not see another worker until July 2022 and then, from there, September 2022. When I said at the beginning of this comment that communication was bad... I mean absolutely non-existent. Over the past year and a half, constant emails, calls and texts had been sent with no response or it was just constant lies. We had so-called "project mangers" that lasted a week at most. Then we had Erica, hahahaha Erica who acts as she is so overwhelmed and can't handle anything... well no sh**, your company is a joke and all you do is lie. If for once we would have received a true statement from Erica maybe things would have been understood, or at the least we would have felt respected. She would use excuse after excuse and somehow try and make us feel bad, but I was not a customer who fell for the BS, nor do I think any of the other customers believe her garbage. The best part of it all is that I got bills for overage in materials yet these materials (dirt,rock,sand) were being scooped up by their crews and brought, legitimately, up the street to another project. There is absolutely no explanation on how or why I'm paying for materials that are being used for a different project. I can write this review and feel absolutely comfortable saying Bob Foster is running your typical "contractor fraud" and his little side kick Erica Perez is the mouthpiece. I cannot wait to see this company and especially everyone associated with it go down. It's disgusting, unethical, and criminal what they get away with. read more

The most dishonest disorganized company I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. They ordered the wrong parts several times, I was told parts were backordered but I was able to find them and have them shipped to my house...... They NEVER paid contractors for gravel so we had to. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They over promise and under deliver EVERYTHING not worth the price or time. Oh project started in Oct. 2020 its Aug 2021 and I still have no liner.... DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! My own personal experience with this company is, they were contracted to build an inground pool and re do the whole backyard. This company has been nothing but problems since day 1. They never finished the job, the portion of the work they did complete was not quality work, their are so many issues with the pool, retaining walls, stairs, concrete cracking, etc. Bill Foster the owner is non responsive and is not taking any steps to rectify any issues, they have been through 6-7 different project managers in the last few years. Several hundred thousand dollars in costs. 3 years later the wood joists in the bathroom floor are rotted and floor caving in. Called company 5 times. Even called owner of company. No response. So far it has not been a pleasant one. Contracted with them in Sept.2020 and only 1 phase of construction has been completed. It has been 5 weeks since the workers left construction materials including pool skimmer, plans for our project rolled into a pvc pipe and other misc. pieces of wood, rebar and saw horses, that have been exposed to the weather all of this time. Promises of continued progress are contingent of "procurement of materials and supplies." Not to mention a legal matter we are dealing with from one of their sub-contractors which we should never have been a party to. What supplies are needed to have someone come out and measure for a liner that was picked out several weeks ago and measure for a fence that we picked out at the same time so that material can be ordered? What supplies are needed to have electric and the plumbing completed as we will hunt for them ourselves if needed? They do not return emails or calls for many, many days and when someone does reach out, it is their new Operations Managers Craig ****** who has only been employed for a short time. The owner just started to respond last week and not to us directly but to the lender which we were CC: on. This has been a frustrating and extremely painful experience thus far. We are certain there are some satisfied customers out there, but we are not one of them. They are currently working on high end projects while we sit and wait. We finally got a hold of a live person to answer the phone 5/25/21 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Foster the owner is at a job site (not ours) the Operations Manager, Craig is at a job site (not ours) and Erica the Business Manager is not in the office. Take forever, signed contract in June 2019, pool not finished until July 2020...communication horrible. Not enough people for job, or people show up to work, but supplies not there...now trying to get pool opening scheduled, they say week of April 19th, husband takes week off (because they can't give you a specific date/time for some reason)...no show. When called, they lie and say they have you down for following week. Residential pools take backburner to larger projects (hotels/resorts) even if your contract was signed first. This company is extremely unreliable, does not care IN THE LEAST about their customers. I was trying to get a pool installed and had 4 appointments set up over time . All 4 appt. were cancelled (1 literally 2 minutes before the set time due to a personal emergency). Also, with the 4th appt., I wasn't even given a cancellation call, just a no show. I called to see what was going on ( just late, or cancelled). I was told the usual receptionist was away from the office and would call when she returned-guess what, no return call was made. Now I understand that things do come up, but when you, as a business person convey your business matters in this manner it shows that customers are not a priority to you. read more

Do not do business with these people. From the moment we signed the contract things went downhill. Change order after change order. everything was 1K to 5K additional monies. Not because we wanted things but because they didn't factor it in. I called the owner who sold us the pool and he was always on vacation somewhere and wasn't taking calls. (on my money) They messed up the installation, leaving pipes sticking up on the patio area. they would not train us to open or close the pool for winter because they wanted to charge us $1200 to do that. We did have them close and service it the first year, but they never came during the winter months to check the water levels as they said they would. We did that to be sure everything was in order. They Never educated us on operations/maintenance. When we asked questions we got brief answers and acted like we were bothering them. Worst part, when we had an issue they completely blew us off!!!! We were losing water at a rate of 3 inches in two days. Office people said it was evaporation....WTH. We Set up an appointment for them to come look at it and they NEVER showed up. Water loss due to large crack in bottom of the pool...They won't respond to our calls. probably because they know they installed the pool incorrectly. Viking pools will honor the warranty for the shell but this has cost us upwards of 2K to fix the problem. I have spoken with other companies about this and they have received many complaints about these people as well. This pool was very expensive, and they totally took our money and ran. Stay away from them!!!! I would not even give them 1 star.....negative 10 stars is more fitting! read more

My family and I recently had a pool built by American Pools and was astonished with the final product. The workmanship and overall quality of the pool far exceeded our expectations. We shopped around for a while and talked with a few other companies before making our decision to go with American Pools. The owner Bill was very courteous and an overall friendly guy who took the time to talk with us and get to know our family. He came to our house to meet with us and his presentation was very organized and professional. His workers were also great during the renovation process we barely knew they were there. They also take great pride in servicing and maintaining the pool. We have Louis to thank for that our pool is always crystal clear and perfectly in balance ensuring our family always has a pleasant swim. Our family loves the pool and we recommend American Pools to all of our friends and family even if they already have a pool we make sure they use the great service department to take care of all their pools need.
