This company is unfortunately a disappointment. We had storm damage to a tree in our yard, and I called and asked for an estimate on the removal of this and another dying tree. The damaged tree is hanging by a thread, and it can kill someone if it falls. They came out and did an estimate on the wrong tree (the neighbor's tree that was already on the ground). Errors happen, as we are all human. I quickly called and emailed them, asking them to please correct their error. They claimed that I had said something about "a tree on the ground" in my initial discussion. This was not the case. They did not reply for an entire week, until finally sending me an email saying that the "schedule is full for the season" and they won't be able to do this work. So, they gave an estimate, but when they realized they made an error, they no longer wanted the job. Not a great look. I'm very frustrated, as I was hoping to establish a longterm business relationship with them for landscaping services. Bummer. Don't bother calling them. read more

I contacted the group for replacement and planting of shrubbery in our front yard this year, and also had planned to replace 5 junipers and 2 mini arbovitae next summer. An estimator came out and a contract was sent via email. I sent an email to the estimator and the office if a tree could be substituted for 2 of the shrubs. Did not hear back from the estimator, but the office informed me : "Thank you for reaching out. At this time, we will not be moving forward on this project because our schedule is fully booked." When I inquired as to why they sent out an estimator and a contract but did not intend to complete the job, this was the response :" The decision was made after evaluating the project and determining that it was a bit small scale for our team." So unless you need a complete rehaul of your outdoor space, I would not waste your time, and apparently, theirs, by contacting this group. We have used Ohio Valley Group for years for snow plowing. They are outstanding!! I have to be at work at 4:30am and they have plowed out our driveway so I can maneuver the car. Great service people, helpful and nice. If there is something specific you want done, you only have to tell them once. We have a very unusual, and long, driveway. My husband and I hired Ohio Valley Group two years ago to landscape our front yard. The project was around 16k and involved tearing down a retaining wall, removing existing landscaping, installing a new retaining wall, new walkway and front step and of course plants and flowers. We hired Ohio Valley Group because we viewed Andy Deangelo as knowledgeable and trustworthy. He spent a good deal of time with us on the front-end of the project and felt that he would do a good job for us and we therefore signed a contract with OVG. To say I judged his character and expertise incorrectly is an understatement. As we neared the end of the project which focused on the stamped concrete and some minor electrical work, their inexperience and lack of attention to detail was evident. The day they poured the concrete it was hot. One could immediately see that there were cracks throughout the walkway. When we mentioned this to Andy he dismissed it as "that's normal and concrete always cracks". We researched this and found that micro-fractures are caused by pouring concrete in hot weather. Andy did not offer to make it right after we brought this to his attention. We have stamped concrete in our backyard, poured by another contractor and its five years old and it doesn't have any cracks, divots or micro-fractures. Additionally, OVG didn't stain the side edge of the front step, claiming that mulch would cover it. As it turns out, it doesn't cover it up and it's awful. We have to pile the mulch extremely high to cover the imperfection. The white kick-plate on our door was fairly new, and was ruined by carelessness and not covering the kick-plate and keeping it free of stain. The light fixture stopped working a 1/2 year in and the aesthetics of the job were done poorly because of the inferior cutting of the stone around the fixture. The final factor that has caused me to write this review is: two years later, the dye is wearing away on the front step and the pitting on the stoop is worse. I want to mention that salt was never used on this walkway and the entrance is used only occasionally as we typically enter and exit from the garage. I first texted Andy with pictures asking that he call me. No response. I left a voicemail that he didn't return. I called again and he picked up and abruptly/rudely told me to call his office as he was on a job and couldn't talk. I did and spoke to Cheri asking that someone come out and inspect it. Cheri asked that I email pics of the stoop. Andy replied to the message with the following, "Every two to three years it is recommended to apply sealer, which will bring out the color in the concrete. Color can fade due to weather and wear and tear. In the future, please call the office instead of my cell phone, as I will get these messages". I emailed again saying that sealer will not bring out the pigment as there isn't any present. No return call or email. Let me be clear, sealer is not going to help with this nor is it going to fix the divots. The fact that we spent 16k with this company and they won't even return my call is unacceptable. Perhaps 16k for Ohio Valley Group might be a small job and not important. However, if they don't want to be bothered with us minions than don't accept the jobs and focus on the larger jobs. Do not be swayed by the smooth sales delivery of Andy Deangelo. He is not a man who values his customers or holds true to his word. I am extremely disappointed, and feel we have been taken advantage of and have thrown hard earned money out the door. My next step is to contact the Better Business Bureau with hopes of getting some money returned to us by OVG so we can somehow fix this. read more

We were extremely dissatisfied with the landscaping work performed by Ohio Valley Group at our home during May and June 2015. The three-pronged project scope agreed between us and Ohio Valley specified (1) the installation of a stone retaining wall for a garden bed, (2) the installation of fencing and foliage surrounding the First Energy electrical box in our front yard, and (3) the planting of several plants in front of our house. Our complaints include: 1. The stones comprising the garden bed retaining wall were not cemented, making them unsafe to walk on, contrary to Ohio Valley's explicit reassurances about their safety. 2. One of the flowering plants planted in front of the house died almost immediately, and was not replaced, with the patently incorrect claim from Ohio Valley that the plant was in fact still alive. 3. Most significantly, the project to surround the First Energy electrical box with fencing and foliage was mismanaged, producing an aesthetic result hardly better than originally existed. Repeated contacts with Ohio Valley to address issues #2 and #3 (issue #1 only became apparent at a later date) resulted in slow, minimal, reluctant and ultimately inadequate resolution of our concerns. After Ohio Valley insisted on full payment for the entire project before attending further to our concerns, we complied by remitting our final payment, only to find that this ended all incentive for Ohio Valley to satisfactorily address our concerns, with Ohio Valley essentially disengaging from fulfilling on their obligations to complete the project scope. Because we came to recognize that we could not rely upon Ohio Valley to perform satisfactory work, we have since retained other contractors at additional expense to address complaint #1, and have undertaken our own efforts and expense to address complaints #2 and #3. We are not using Ohio Valley for additional landscaping work needs that we have, and we will not recommend to anyone that they retain Ohio Valley as a contractor. read more

Just a fantastic job, first of all; they listened to us an then gave us a few ideas to complement what we had in mind, rather than coming up with a ridiculously grandiose design as 4 other companies did. They even had ides how to recycle and/or incorporate existing materials into the new patio. On time, clean, polite and efficient. We even had them stay at our cabin (where the work has done) since it is so far off of the beaten path. They left it spotless and 3 days later our new steps and ideal patio/fire pit were completed. 3 seasons later and it is still one of our favorite spots to entertain! ZERO reservations or concerns. Hello I just wanted to share an experience I had this winter, We just purchased a home on a private street and were told by the neighbors Ohio Valley Group did most of their driveways, so we called them and set up for the season. I paid upfront about 350 for up too 30 pushes which sounded good. However with the winter it was only plowed 4 times total. understandable for the winter we had. And honestly shame on me for paying upfront as they said the winter may not be too bad. when I discussed with OVG they were quick to point out I signed a contract and they don't give any refunds, which I understand 100%, but I feel this company made tons of money on this service this year and did not care I wasn't looking for a refund only for a partial credit for future things being done around the house. Honestly it would only be fair. But they were quick to point out the contract and would not work with me at all. Now as I said we have much more we are trying to do this summer, like electric outside, driveway, landscaping, etc. and to give me maybe $100-$200 in credit would have been nothing and I would be spending thousands more with them this summer. But I will now be looking for a smaller local business. I am a small business owner and I have worked for large companies as well, and know their corp policies. I would just say be careful whom you deal with, a smaller local company from what I found gives way more personal service, not pointing me back to the contract and laughing in my face, like they won on some sort of gamble I took.
