Shrank my Pendleton sweater that I've had for years. I had just worn it and it fit fine. Literally now 3" shorter than it was in the sleeves and body of the sweater. I am guessing they washed instead of dry cleaned. I'm sure there is no point in asking for any kind of compensation as they'll deny it or say it's on some sign in the store that it's at your own risk. read more

American Cleaners - Laundry Services Near Me - Saint Charles, Missouri

There customer service is terrible, John and Ellen are rude and do nothing to resolve the issue. They were suppose to clean and preserve my daughter's wedding dress. The first box they put it in was broken the second one was the incorrect box. At first they told me there was nothing else they could do. However, a 3rd person told me the correct box could be ordered and she would do it. She was very friendly. However, she is out sick with no return date and John and Ellen deny any ability to help resolve this issue after 2.5 months and mulitple trips to their store. They call themselves customer service managers...nothing could be further from the truth read more

I use this place often and recently had a stain on my suit that I tried two different products on to remove with no success so I gave them a try . Showed them the stain and they removed probably 90% Which was enough for me to be impressed because I got nowhere. It can only be seen if looked at it close which was in an area of my pants that most people don't stare at. Staff is usually pretty nice but how much time do you spend in there. read more

We brought several items there to be prepared for my mother's funeral. We were told one that we could not just have things pressed, unless they were brand new. Which is simply ridiculous in it self. But we pressed what was new. Cleaned, starched and pressed what wasn't new. We picked up the cloths and brought them home. My brother in law had to iron all the items as they were still wrinkled and some didn't even seem to be touched. 1) we paid almost $70 for all these items. 2) this was for my mother's funeral, ironing until after 12 am the day before the wake was not what anyone needed. I will never return or recommend your store to anyone. read more

Here's the deal. American Cleaners sends out these coupons for various dry cleaning services. I used one once to have my king size comforter cleaned for about $20.00. Granted, the comforter was very, very near BRAND NEW, with the exception of the fact that it had hit the floor a few times and I can't handle the idea of it being dirty. I had barely ever used it for actually sleeping. It had no stains or odors, nothing much to clean to it. Mostly just for my own peace of mind, I took it in. Well, and because of the coupon. So, that experience wasn't bad necessarily. But it wasn't much of a challenge either... Now that I think of it though, the girls behind the counter were gawking at my bf when I dropped it off, and were just snide and rude in general. I had almost forgotten about that. Hmmm... This time, I took in my brushed suede/ fur lined winter coat. Of which the label clearly says must use some special leather cleaner stuff on it. OK. So I took it into the shop, where the woman behind the counter this time was nice enough, but wasn't sure whether the coupon could be used because it was unclear that the fur was 'man made' or not- the label didn't specify. She informed me that if there was any issue (if not 'man made' fur) the place that they send it to would give me a call. Fine. I go back in to pick up my coat after the due date, pay the coupon price, and get it home. I take it out of the bag and discover that #1) it STINKS. Reminds me of a stinky carpet cleaning machine. My bf says it smells to him like the vinyl backing on bathroom rugs. You know THAT smell? Yuck. Not what I want my winter coat, hence ME, to smell like. #2) the top button is barely hanging on. What happened there? #3) there were two little spots, very near the collar, that I most likely spilled a bite of something on. And guess what. Those two spots, still there... #4) the fur (yes, man made) is now HARD. It used to be soft. As silly as it sounds, its like someone forgot to rinse the soap out of it. You know how things get hard when you let them dry without rinsing all the soap out? Great. #5) have I mentioned that when I wear the coat, I smell like a dirty carpet cleaner? Or the backing of bathroom rugs?! Grrrrr. That has to be what I'm most ticked off about. Hands down. I've been avoiding calling the cleaners until now, simply because I have the feeling that they are not going to refund my money and it will just end in me being very, very angry at whoever is refusing to do so on the other end of the line. But I'm going to give it a shot, absolutely. Tomorrow, I'm sure. And I'm going to take it to Ram Leather Care instead this time, hopefully I will have a better experience there. No coupon discount is worth smelling like an old carpet cleaner, or the backing of cheap bathroom rugs, that's for sure. Why would I pay a dime for my coat to smell and feel worse than it did before I ever took it in?! Geeeezzz... read more

Business manager, Your customer service manager just told me she is sorry she's losing my business and hung up on me. It's no wonder your employees argue with customers and say ridiculous things like is Saturday ok for a pick up when I'm dropping off Wednesday? Huh? 4 days? CSM also said there is no one above her at American cleaners. Bottom line, your associates behind the desk are rude because they can be. Just so you are aware, when they say ridiculous things and provide poor service they speak right up and say that this is all coming from the front office. How disturbing. Bye American cleaners, I will however take the coupons you have delivered to my house and use them at a competitor who accepts them. read more

Just picked up some curtains. They are shredded, Two panels, after shredding the first one instead of stopping they shredded the second panel too. Not their fault somehow. Will cost 100s to replace read more

This place is a huuuuge rip off! They just make up their prices on what they feel that day! Can't give a set price on things! I travel to several cities/states a week and NEVER have I had to deal with this type of charges for clothes to be pressed! Just ridiculous! Very sketchy and shady! Not cool read more

Overall the cleaning service is good. My biggest hang-up is the fact that they do not accept credit or debit. Its very annoying to have to go get cash just to get my dry cleaning. Having said that, I have tried other places for my dry cleaning and this seems to be the cheapest one in St. Charles that I can find. Very cheap when you use their coupons in the mail. I just wish that they would either send out more coupons or they would offer some type of customer reward program so you would have to wait each month just to get the mailer. They can typically get your items done in a 2-3 days. They do offer 24 hour services but I have not used this yet. They are NOT open on Sunday, so if you drop off your items on Saturday, do not expect your shirts and pants to be done until Monday afternoon at the earliest. read more

if I could rate lower that 1 star, I would. I took 14 shirts there to get laundered. Nice shirts for work. Some were brand new. They look horrible. Almost every collar I am going to have to iron myself. The shirts look like someone did them in a washing machine, hung them up and let them dry. They stink like old potato chips. WTH Nothing like paying $23 to get shirts you have to go get cleaned again. Oh, and they don't take credit or debit cards, cash or check only. lol even the ice cream man takes debit cards. You are a BUSINESS, act like it or give up the building, thats prime real estate. Last trip there for me, I'm so mad. read more

I dropped off several shirts to be laundered and two suits for dry cleaning. After I picked them up, a few days later I went to take one of the shirts out of the bag and found it had brown stains all over it. Looking at the others, a total of three shirts were stained--none of them had stains when I dropped them off. I took them back, and they attempted to clean them again. The stains were somewhat faded but did not disappear. I refused to take the shirts back until I spoke with a manager. I have waited several days for the manager--who is never in the store--to call me. In addition, after I took the shirts back, I found a piece of hard candy (which I don't eat) in the pocket of one of the suit pants. The suit was not damaged, but it makes me think they are letting people wear my clothes when I drop them off. I won't be back. read more

I am from northern Michigan now and come down to visit my 91 year old mother each year. Last year 8/2011 had two suits cleaned and two weeks ago had 4 suits done. Their work was great and I'm very pleased. Keep up the good work. Nice lady serving me at the store location. Leonard J. Cheboygan, MI.49721 read more

I have been coming here for 5 months since moving to St Peters and on average spend close to $400 each month in dry cleaning and laundry. Today I was told that because my woman's shirt had darts it could not be laundered it would have to be dry cleaned - that's a first because they have laundered it at least twice before. Another one of my shirts consisted of some rayon, that too was going to have to be dry cleaned. Then the woman behind the counter said the most absurd thing - she commented that they can't even launder women's shirts that aren't at least a size 12...? What when I mentioned to her that that policy seemed to be discriminatory against smaller people - (which I am not I am a size 14), she got a little snarky. As I was loading my $91 cleaning into my car I could hear her telling another worker that I was complaining about the situation. On my second trip to retrieve my cleaning, I asked her if she needed anything else from me - catching her being rude you would hope would correct her bad customer service, but I think not. So when I come back next week for my clothes, it will only be to pick up - not to drop off - ever again. I'm done with them. I wish I would have read the other review before ever stepping in there. They also don't take debit or credit cards - only cash - nothing is automated except bad customer service. read more

first of all, they DO NOT clean anything well., Last straw today, picked up 3 sweater s- 1) Plain crew neck sweater Returned a wrinkled mess 2) Food ( peanut butter or something) was on the sleeve - noticed when I w unwrapped at home 3) button front sweater also had a stain on the cuff NOT there when I dropped off They send out flyers, but you would do better buying a package of DRYEL home cleaning sheets for basic sweaters. My clothes look worse than when I came in. AVOID and use a reputable dry cleaner read more

We recently moved to the St. Charles area and we started using American Cleaners for the dry cleaning of my husbands work clothes we first had a problem with them because he had a stain on his pants and they couldn't get out which is not a big deal because we just assumed it was a difficult stain the second time they faded his pants (which had been cleaned several times at another cleaner with no issue) the third time they shrunk his pants every time they did not accept responsibility with the problem, the lady at the store said that they would send them to corporate for them to investigate the problem, corporate called me about the shrinking of the pants and basically called us Liars and said there is no way that the pants could have shrunk they said that they measured them in the waist and length and they were exactly the same I told her it wasn't the length that shrunk it was the cut the front of them the fit. She told me there was absolutely no way that could happen! read more

I have been taking my business shirts in to have them laundered for quite some time. I have been noticing they have been coming back from the shop on Jungerman were the service is actually done with the collars mashed down. I have pointed the problem out to the ladies on First Capitol but they say they don't do them there. I understand that but I don't care where they are done, they are not acceptable. I finally called the customer service line and that person was nice enough and sent out coupons to cover my cost. This has happened about 4-5 times already. I know it is only $1.60 per shirt but that's not the point. Get them right!! I have one more shirt there and I'm done with American Cleaners. The ladies at First Capitol say that the laundry is putting the plastic covers on the shirts before they are dry and that mashes the collars down. I would think a simple fix would keep more customers. read more
