Anya saved my pup's life. My giant breed puppy (10 months today) had a massive and dangerous personality turn after she had to be boarded at a kennel for a week. We went back to a vicious animal that no longer obeyed any commands she learned in AKC classes. She tried to attack any person or animal outside of my family. By the time Anya fearlessly swept into our home to do the evaluation with an out of control 100 pounds of snapping teeth ferociously lunging at her, two other trainers had refused to even meet with us. Our "baby" was most definitely a threat. As such, my first question was if she needed to be put down. Anya assured me it wasn't too late to save our beloved pet, "No. We don't kill the dog, we train the dog." I wondered if this diminutive beauty could actually tame our beast, as the pup likely outweighed her and clearly wanted to take a bite out of her. That doubt was immediately allayed when Anya took the leash from my husband. Within moments, my dog was obeying commands she had been choosing to ignore. SAnya advised us on how to keep the dog safe and entirely away from others while we awaited a time she could train her. Even though the evaluation had been short, having Anya take charge and give us direction had the dog behaving better in the time being. It was a very long two and a half week wait, filled with anxiety and doubt. Were we doing the right thing? Should the dog really just be put down to preserve human wellbeing? Could this really work? Would Anya treat the dog well while she was boarded with her over the next month? (Afterall, another boarding program was where the problems began and they'd had impeccable reviews! It was a welcome comfort to receive pictures and texts updating us on our dog's progress during those long weeks.) And, of course, would it be worth the sum Anya charges? Well, last night was our penultimate private session with Anya. Our pup is still a puppy, so she's far from perfect and will need us to continue keeping her in line for the rest of her life, but the difference is almost unfathomable. When Anya first asked what I wanted out of training during evaluation, my first wish, naturally, was that the dog would be safe to have around. My second was to have my loving, goofy girl back instead of the raging monster. Anya more than delivered. Our dog is more a part of the family than ever and she LOVES training. She was so happy, lively, and single minded tonight at the park, she barely registered anyone else there. She was focused on doing whatever we wanted just to hear us say, "Good girl!" or give her a pat. Whereas AKC training had us giving the dog treats all the time, Anya has tapped into the dog doing what she is supposed to for praise and affection. Our dog is much happier with that and is much more reliable because we don't have to carry food for her to obey. A huge part of this experience has been Anya training US! We had so much to learn and she has been very patient and has made herself available for any questions or clarifications throughout the process. She's always just a call or text away. She has welcomed pictures or videos of problem behaviors. Anya's methods have worked a miracle with our dog. I am so grateful to have found her. On the advice of friends and neighbors, we went to Anya for our dog's basic obedience. Sophie is a rescue, and when we got her at 15 weeks, she had a combination of issues: fearfulness of basically everything besides us, yet also a lack of respect or understanding of pack order (my husband and I aren't the best leaders). Anya's training helped build her confidence and provided a bond between us and Sophie. Though she isn't perfect (again, that's on our poor leadership, not on the dog or the trainer), she is turning into the perfect companion for us. Sophie no longer fears other dogs (or wind, or leaves, or people walking around outside). She is also becoming increasingly comfortable with other people. She loves meeting other dogs, which we worried would never happen! It's important to note that the method used by Lorenzo's team of trainers is...sometimes difficult to watch. It is not "positive only" training, and does involve martingale and prong training collars, along with hard corrections. Sophie sometimes ended sessions seeming defeated, and to be honest, my husband and I had initial concerns that it would make her more fearful. But, while this was hard on mom and dad to watch, it was really important to breaking her of her stubborn coonhound ways. Sophie now trusts us, looks to us for leadership (most of the time), and loves the daily work we will continue to do throughout her life. She is our best friend an an amazing snuggler. Anya has trained two of my dobermans. Zoe came to me through rescue and was quite a leash puller and we had some negative dog interactions at the marina we belong to. After an initial consultation I signed Zoe up for dog obedience training to help build her confidence and understanding of what I wanted her to do. Dog training is less about training a dog and more about increasing communication between the human and the dog. Anya is very knowledge not only of this breed but also techniques to address each dog and owner. I will admit that I did not have the best leash handling skills and I was probably too relaxed about follow through, but I practiced and followed Anya's program and Zoe is a well behaved and confident dog. I enjoyed the program and training so much that I applied those same techniques when I got another rescued doberman, Zeus. I attended group dog classes with Anya to work on socialization around other dogs. While Zeus was not as polished as some of the other dogs it was a great opportunity to get him out among other dogs and humans. This is helping him calm down when he sees another dog or person walking their dog. I continue to practice the skills I learned with my dogs. It is because of Anya that I have learned how to better communicate with my dogs and make them better canine citizens. I get complements all the time about how well behaved my dogs are. Before the training with Anya our chocolate lab puppy, Harper, was unruly, strong-willed and disobedient but by the end of the third session we saw an amazing turnaround. As the lessons continued so did Harper's skills and obedience. Amazingly, by the end of our tenth session Harper was in the park practicing off-leash skills of heeling, sitting, down-stay and come commands with ease. When distractions, such as, other people and dogs were nearby she had the basic skills to remain in a down-stay while the they passed. Both we as the owners and Harper as our pet now have all the skill necessary to continue building on a great foundation. As for Anya, we could not be happier. She was always timely and professional. There was no doubt in our minds (or Harpers) that Anya knew what she was doing and was highly trained and gifted to guide us to our goals. By the end of the sessions, we felt we had made a new friend and look forward to taking part in Anya's other advance trainings. All in all, it was some of the best money we spent. My wife and I interviewed every dog trainer in the area before making our decision. We interviewed Anya last, and thank goodness we did, because we immediately knew that she was the best and who we were going to go with. While other trainers require electric shock collars, or for you always to have treats in your pockets to bribe your dog with, Anya's approach is based on solid principals of animal understanding and discipline. We thought that small dogs like ours (morkie) were untrainable because small dogs are so stubborn. After only five brief sessions with Anya, our dog now sits, lays, comes, stays, and heels immediately with either verbal commands or hand signals. It is absolutely amazing. Anya is absolutely amazing and worth the money, especially if you have a difficult case like I did. Adopted a terrier mix rescue named Covu with dominance issues. Covu is a sweet and super smart boy but he came with plenty of other issues as well, like pulling on leash, lunging and highly reactive to other dogs, very high prey drive, a bit of resource guarding, and terrible seperation anxiety. And it didn't help that I'm a first time dog owner and didn't have a clue as to what I was doing, so we both needed help! And Anya came to the rescue! Besides the reactivity, Covu has become a great dog thanks to Anya. Although we're still working on the dog reactivity, he has improved a great deal. Just yesterday, for example, I was able to take him to a pet store to get groomed without him trying to kill every other dog in sight! I couldn't believe it! Prior to meeting Anya, my husband and I were having a difficult time setting boundaries with our (then) 9 month old Doberman puppy. You can say she ran the house! My husband and I recently completed a 10-week training program with Anya and our English bulldog mix puppy, Lola. When we started the program, Lola was just over a year old. We rescued our dog, Lana, about a year ago and soon ran into many problems. After setting up a nanny cam in our home we realized she was having full reign of the house; getting on the counters, into cabinets and the trash, and eating food from the freezer. We tried crating her, but she quickly found her way out and was back to causing trouble. After meeting Anya our world changed, suddenly we were able to use our freezer! Best trainer - ever! We first hired Anya to help with our two skittish, poorly behaved, mixed breeds a few years ago. Building on that success, when we brought home a German Shepard puppy last fall, we didn't think twice about calling her back. Our vet recommended Anya when our young German Shepherd was acting very aggressive while in the kennel at the vet. We set up an appointment and were very impressed right away. I love what Anya has done with our puppy. She started training our puppy when he was five months old and did an amazing job with him. He was into nipping, jumping and leash pulling but after spending a month with Anya all of his bad habits were gone.
