I fell asleep during the flight and missed the snack service, but when I woke up and asked for water, the flight attendant kindly brought me a bottle of water and a snack; much appreciated. Direct flight was actually 20 min early to my destination. I got a good price because I started looking for the booking 2 months ahead. A long 6 hour flight and hard to sit in the cramped Seat was regular class with no window but got me where I needed to go. Also I liked the way they boarded because I had room for my overhead suitcase. Nice ppl. Also a full can of ginger ale was served. With pretzels. Multiple times I have flown American Airlines and have had pleasant experiences. Today was not that, departure was for 7:00am and the. Notification popped up 7:20. We have been sitting here with no notification from staff why we are now delayed. Did not get a welcoming when I boarded or when I arrived in cabin. Maybe because I was wearing Michigan Gear???? Now 7:12 and people are still boarding. They told us that there was a scratch on the wing of the plane that was looked at and taken care of. Either these people got lucky or they waited for them and lied to the passengers. 7:30 and we still are at gate with cabin door still open. I have a connecting flight from Orlando I cannot miss. Now they say the plane was off balance and they had to throw balances in the plane. What other reasons for our delay will they say. Finally at 8:15 we are finally leaving the gate. Asked the flight attendant if I'll make my connecting flight and was given a 50%. Wow what customer. I hope they make it up in the air. read more

Once again, another AAwesome set of flights, in and out of JAX on AAmerican AAirlines!! My flight in was great, smooth and on time via a regional jet. The flight out was on a larger, 319 and once again was on time and great. The crew was friendly and helpful as was the gate staff. All airlines have their issues, if you travel often, like I do, you need to just find one and settle down and the one I chose many years ago, AA gets it right so much of the time! read more

Why did I think I should give this airline another shot? Always late bottom line. You will never make a connection or you will be very close to not making it. They have a very drawn out and overly long boarding process and they are very blasé about getting people where they need to go. Employees will generally snap at customers. I always enjoy flying AA and from my home base of Jax airport. I hadn't realized it had been so long since my last flight, almost 6mos, and so much has changed. The old USO is the military lounge and run by the airport, USO dumped it without notice. They moved it to a much better location since my last visit, it's now upstairs before checking in. The volunteers are always so nice and they added a flight screen! TSA Precheck is always hit or miss. They made it easier to know which line to get in but didn't fix the problem of slow bins or no bins for flyers to put their luggage and having only 3 people at a time is not cool. Once I entered the area to find my flight I was fiening for coffee but refuse to pay Starbucks prices(I'm cheap like that). I had time and walked around to actually see what was offered and found the food court and found good coffee! Coffee bought, now I sit and wait on my AA flight. First of all, we made it alive . second, I am always weird with airports period because of all the things that can happen. The airport was clean, the staff could be friendlier, but I guess everyone is too busy. The planes need work on the air condition. Other than that, I loved the charging ports, love the gadgets , loved the complimentary food ( I think it's for flights 2 plus). Oh and they offer free WiFi (American Airlines). They do have a long term parking which was awesome, Thank You. I definitely look forward to traveling with them again. TIP: if you haven't downloaded the AA app do it! American Airlines gets a lot of hate sometimes. I don't really know why well, they have their moments like everybody else especially since Covid. Coming out of Jacksonville this is a small airport, the service is always pretty good. The people at the desk when you check in at the Priority , check in are always pleasant. And the line is never very long. If you want to you can use the self check in machines and those are quite efficient. You can just drop your bag then and it's all good. do you walk to the gates is not too bad and American Airlines is great about upgrading status members if they have room. American Airlines sucks. They canceled our flight from PHL to DTW because of a storm in Ohio, but there were flights going to Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus. They booked us a connection flight from PHL to ORD, then ORD to DTW. Our flight from PHL to ORD was at 9:00 am. Our connection flight was at 8:56 am for some reason. Horrible customer service, especially specifically ORD airport. They put us on standby and said if we don't make it they would give us meal vouchers. They got us to Florida and back for Christmas without canceling our flight so that's a plus. Seats were very tight with minimal leg room and you have to pay $40 for "extra" seats if you want leg room. If you have a carry on, it's a gamble whether to pay extra for early boarding or if they'll make everyone "valet check" and get their bags at the jetway when you arrive in which case no reason to board early for carry on access. A late start at the beginning of our vacation led to us running like OJ Simpson in a car rental ad to our gate. Only to have the gate change. Sprinting back, we were the last 2 people on the plane. (My husband and I are in our 60s and should not have to run a mile to catch a plane.) We flew into Florida and were staying in Georgia. Our carry-on bags that we were asked to check, of course did not make it. Fast forward to return flight. "Mechanical failure" diagnosed after the plane was fully boarded and taxiing to the runway. Stuck in Jacksonville for TEN HOURS! No planes are going to Orange County CA ALL DAY? Maybe if you didn't pack them like sardines, there would be available seats for your numerous incidents of incompetence. We now have TWO connecting flights and aren't sitting together. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had trying to get home back to San Jose. First off, my connecting flight gets canceled 5 mins before I'm suppose to leave. I went up to one of the American airline counters and the lady whom helped me out was extremely rude and wasn't helpful at all. I'm already panicking that I'm going to miss my flight and she didn't give me much options . Luckily there was some help from some other associate , I was able to sort it out. The flight had pretty good air conditioning, the seats were comfortable, and the food/snack offerings were adequate. The short, 1.5 hour flight to my layover destination went by faster than I thought. During the flight, I sat next to a service member who was in the Navy and en route to the middle east. My submitted letter to AA Dear American Airlines Leadership Team, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction your customer service. My family and I flew from SF to Miami to Savannah on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. When we initially booked our flight, we were supposed to arrive in Savannah at 7pm, but that flight was canceled without explanation and we were moved to a flight that landed at 11:45pm, so we had a 5 hour layover in the Miami airport. When we were finally on our flight, due to weather issues in Savannah, we were diverted to Jacksonville. When we landed there, the captain apologized that the weather was not improving and that we would have to stay in Jacksonville, with a flight maybe going out the next morning at 11. All passengers were then deplaned and all we got out of it was a not-so-informative informational card about websites to go to. No one offered us a refund or a credit for the inconvenience or any guidance on booking a hotel. You guys just left our family stranded in a location we weren't supposed to be in, at MIDNIGHT, to fend for ourselves and figure it out. Additionally, your online system informed us that the flight the next morning would be at 11:59, but later we learned it was actually 11:02, and no one at the airline ticketing counter would help us move ahead when we were there at 10:30. We then missed our flight and had to take a Lyft all the way to Savannah. This is the absolute worst travel experience I have ever had, and your lack of customer service in the matter was atrocious. I believe we should receive a refund on our tickets, a reimbursement for our overnight hotel stay, and transportation for going to and from the hotel to the airport. read more

$70 to check 2 bags. Southwest lets you check 2 for free. Both serve snacks. American doesn't have drink menus, Southwest does. My agency dropped me off early after training and I could not check my bags until 4 hrs before my flight, so I had to sit outside for 3 hrs before I could go through TSA. American staff are snobbish and rude (asked about an upgrade and they said "It's the same price at check in as here honey." without even looking at me. I have never loved American Airlines. They always overbook flights and are delayed. But was thoroughly impressed when l flew first class to Texas and then again to San Diego. This was my very first time flying first class... we got upgraded! Yay! The first time was from Jacksonville to Dallas. It was a short two and a half-hour flight. Waiting in our seats were new blankets individually wrapped. Before taking off we were offered drinks. I had no idea what to order, but they don't have an immense variety so don't get too excited. I got a rum and coke. It was served with hot nuts. Then they started to take our order for the in service dinner. Cool! I wish we hadn't eaten a huge lunch! They had two options, cheese enchiladas or herb chicken. I chose the herb chicken with green beans and mushroom rice. It came with a small salad, a dinner roll with butter. I was really impressed that the meal actually tasted really good! For dessert we got a hot chocolate chip cookie. Yummy! The only thing missing from this flight was a movie. The second time was from Dallas to San Diego. Blankets were awaiting again, this time with earphones. This time took longer to takeoff. We weren't offered drinks right away since they we still waiting on passengers in coach to take their seats. Before drinks were served we got small steamed hot towels to wipe our hands. I got a chardonnay this time, again served with hot huts. This was a really nice flying first class experience. The seats are definitely larger with more leg room, so you are more comfortable. I must say, was definitely spoiled flying first class twice this trip! Flying coach will never be the same! read more

Got to the airport an hour and a half before my flight left. They told me i got there too late. They bumped me from my flight after I already checked in, involuntarily. Told me since I wasn't at my gate when they called my name then I voluntarily gave up my seat. The reasoning I wasn't at my gate is because the front desk ladies held me up there for an hour. This is the worst airline in the fu***** sky. Didn't get any type of compensation. I arrived at my final destination 5 hours after my original time. 0 out of 10. Do not recommend. This airline is horrible. Our fight was supposed to be at 3:30pm it got held back till 5:15pm then 6:00 we started to board but they realized that one part of the plane was broken. So we went to another area it was 7:30 when we boarded. And we had 10 minutes to leave the captain makes a announcement he says the captain can only fly for 14 hours a day and the time was up.So he called more captains but they would not come because they had flights too. People were even cursing out the captain but I don't blame them. In the end it got canceled and we waited in the rebook place from 8:00 pm to 12:00 midnight and the best they could do was rebook our flight till 6:00pm the next day. Even that flight was delayed. Do you know how hard it is to aim your *censored* in the bathroom when the plane is bumping up and down? I must be the freaking King of Dexterity because I managed to keep it straight into the bowl during that violent ordeal. But stupid me for going to the bathroom during that patch of turbulence in the first place. Now I wouldn't normally review an airline based on a turbulent flight, unless it was a faulty plane or something. I don't think it was a faulty plane. But what it was, was a late plane. Schedule of events: 2:10 pm: Supposed to be our boarding time. But the plane was just starting to unload passengers from the last flight. 2:25 pm: Unloading of passengers complete. 2:40 pm: Supposed to be our departure time. We JUST start boarding at this time. 3:00 pm: Boarding complete. Our plane departs from the gate. Sometimes delays are inevitable. I get that. But is a little communication too much to ask for? In that half hour between our scheduled boarding and departure times, not a word was said by the AA gate attendant on why the plane was late, why we weren't boarding despite the plane being idle, and certainly no apologies for the inconvenience. Meanwhile, the announcer for Southwest at a nearby gate could be heard giving very helpful info over her PA system. Le sigh. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Literally a nightmare! Especially during this pandemic. When I boarded my plane my seat was still dirty, there was trash on the seat in front of me, no social distancing what so ever, and people have no respect for personal space. It's like everyone is oblivious to the fact that they can get sick. The whole plane ride was so damn hot, they kept saying the air was on high and it was just hot because there was so many people, but that's a lie because I was just on a FULL flight and it was cold enough to put a sweater on. The airlines doesn't check any temperatures of people or any safety procedure checks in order to keep anyone safe. So for all we know, we could be boarding a plane with a bunch of people who have Covid-19! I've heard multiple people just coughing and sneezing this whole plane ride, and for the air not to be circulating how it should, we're all breathing in unfiltered air. They do not limit capacity, they're just trying to make money and they clearly don't care about people's well being. I'm extremely outraged and will NEVER fly American Airlines again. As an Executive Platinum member I will not invest another penny in AA. After a 2 hour delay at MLU for flight 3732 I arrive at DFW and flight #2497 departed already. So now that I am stuck in Dallas for the night AA puts me in a roach motel 20 minutes away from the airport.
