I liked the variety of holes, with a good mix of longer holes and shorter par 3s that kept the round fun. The location next to The Castaway made it even better. We had dinner there afterward, and it was the perfect way to end the day. I'd definitely come back and play here again.

Phil the starter went above and beyond to get our group checked in quickly and sent off with great energy. LA muni courses can sometimes feel a bit rushed or impersonal, but Phil was incredibly welcoming, professional, and kept the tee box organized perfectly. His great attitude set the tone for an awesome, stress-free day on the course. We will definitely be back soon!

I'm not a golfer. Which makes this review even more beneficial because those of us who don't golf…read morecan still enjoy the environment there. The course has a walking path that goes all the way around the course out to Woodman Avenue back into Lake Balboa Park and then returns to the golf course. I'm not sure how long the walk is, but it's pretty decent if you want exercise. The walking pup is all been empty most of the time. Not too many people know about it. So it's clean and cluttered and easy to navigate. I like to take my dog there early in the morning before it gets too hot. There is also a nice little café there with pretty good food. And lots and lots of sports screens. So if you're a sports but and you like to play foosball and pinball, you should check this place out. I would be surprised if they have less than 50 sports screens Oh yeah, and you can also play golf

I arrived just after 1 in the afternoon and the parking lot was pretty full. Ok, Friday I get it. Then once you get to the balls station, there was also a line. Also it was a first time seeing them refill the machine after collecting all the balls. And then you have the range, every single slot was occupied. That was a rare sight to see. It's alway easy coming here and there's alway a few open spaces but this day, completely packed. People left their clubs behind each spot to reserved their place until the individual was finished. It was about a 10 minute wait till the space was available. But throughout the whole time, the place was still busy with people waiting. That was for both the covered spot and non covered. Of course you have to head over to the clubhouse for a nice cold one afterwards. That too was quite busy on the patio. They served food, snacks and alcohol. It ls a nice spot for a quick load up on snacks and drinks for the course. Or a a nice cold drink afterwards. It's a nice neighborhood course and range. Plenty of parking which is a plus.

Subpar golf course…read more Bad cart "paths", was dirt a lot of the time. All the sand traps were just dirt, no actually sand. A lot of dry spots everywhere. And on top of that, water sprinkler turned on right at me. Missed me by a foot. It was 10am. They shouldn't be turning on the sprinklers at that time. Only positive was that the carts had ranges to the hole so I didn't have to keep guessing.

I can honestly say this was the best lesson I've had so far. What I appreciated most was that Chris focused on improving my swing, not completely changing it. He explained what the numbers on the simulator meant, how they related to my swing, and what goals I should work toward. He kept things simple and gave me a few key areas to practice on my own. He's down-to-earth, easy to understand, and made the entire lesson enjoyable. The facility was clean and professional, parking was easy, and the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. The simulators were very nice and easy to use. Plus, being in the Valley, playing in a comfortable, air-conditioned room is hard to beat! I'd recommend lessons here to golfers of any skill level. You're paying one price to have a better experience every time you play golf and that's a great deal. I'll definitely be coming back. take home and work on. Best part of the lesson is Chris is very down to earth and made it easy for me to understand. I will continue to come here.

Got to chatting with Chris about his background. It's been open for a year and highly recommend this. You got info on your swing and it's clear he made a solid investment into the machines. It's not the most vibey but that's not what I'm here for. Enjoyed it for all the useful things it provides and great service.

I was so impressed after 8 lessons that I decided to buy his $3,000 package. I'm excited to see how far he can help me improve my game. If you're reading this, try him out. They tried to do it on their own but after a while realized they should seek a professional. My two friends actually went to the JRL Academy and worked with John Ray Leary who is the director of instruction and owner. Yet highly recommended him and Im glad they did. I did not know what to expect at first but he's so easy going and was able to explain things in the simplest of ways that I could actually understand him!! Lol. I did an hour lesson and I can confidently say I know what Im working on. Two weeks after the first lesson I just shot my lowest round ever 88! Can't recommend John Ray Leary enough!!! Bonus was the range was all grass which is a bonus in LA!

I finally pulled the trigger and got 3 clubs re-gripped (SW, 3 wood and hybrid wood). I was thoroughly happy with the results. Horsepower usually opens shop after 12pm almost everyday. Pat is super busy on the weekends, fixing clubs, Trackman set up, etc. I would say 97% of the equipment you can buy at the golf shop, Pat has in his shack at Horsepower. My 3 clubs were re-gripped in the matter of minutes (I didn't have to leave them overnight). Professional, good equipment, and ready to go in 20 minutes. Pat was also very personable and nice. He never pushed his services or equipment. Credit card and cash okay. And way more convenient than going to the retail stores. The prices I think were slightly higher, but it's more the convenience and easy. Not extra gas to drive out to the shops, no leaving your clubs overnight to get serviced. Thanks Pat!

I've played some of the best disc golf courses in SoCal and some of the worst and this place falls…read morefairly in the middle. One of my biggest issues with DeBell are the lack of proper tee pads and lack of proper signage which can lead to frustrating rounds. They conveniently post a map at the office, but to keep referring to a map you take a picture of on your phone constantly can get annoying. They try to update uDisc regularly, but again, when it's not accurate, you're left trying to figure things yourself. Terrain is another problem. For the most part it's well maintained, but if you're paying 6-8 bucks to play on this course, there's a part of you that wishes things were a little better. On a rainy day or the ones after it, don't expect good footing anywhere. The biggest problem though are the people. The staff is actually wonderful and very friendly...but the patrons can be hit or miss. It's a shared course with regular golf and some of the ball golfers can be a bit rude or aloof. Sure, it's a problem anywhere, but I've seen a lot of golfers not follow proper etiquette (slow play and large groups) and feel entitled to the course since it's for "golf." When you get past all it's faults...DeBell is kind of a hidden gem. In a big, mostly flat city like Burbank, there's not of open space and going up that hill past downtown Burbank, there's some really beautiful nature areas to find. On a sunny day with a cool breeze, playing here is a real delight. Away from the busy streets and noise of the city, you can really spend a calm day here. As you overlook the city, it's one of the better places in town to take in a sunset. Sometimes, you'll run into some nature with everything from lizards, skunks, rabbits, and the occasional deer. As far as disc golf goes, the course is mostly good. They change the layouts regularly and the positions can be in challenging positions...other times it feels like someone just moved the basket without any thought to why a hole should be that way. There's everything you want from a course...decent amount of trees, distance, and elevation changes. It's only 9 holes and there isn't a lot of long holes, but it's a nice challenge if you wanna spend a couple hours working on your game in relative peace.
