The mozzarella sticks weren't terrible, but the cheese itself wasn't fully melted and still felt firm inside -- not a deal-breaker, just not what you expect. The bigger issue was the meatballs. They didn't taste meat-forward at all, and for the first time in a long while, I actually had to put food into my napkin after taking a bite. That's never a good sign. As of Day 36 of being open, they're doing a good job! Very authentic, family run business. The wife had to check with her husband, the chef, when we came in at 7:15 to make sure we could be seated. We were. Our server, a tall, younger guy from Big Timber, was appropriately attentive and very sweet. The food came out quickly and was large portions. The chicken Marsala was good, very garlicky but the chef came out later to introduce himself and said they could have made it without garlic (my stomach is quite intolerant), so that's great to know for next visit. The bread was basic, store bought, nothing to brag about. But it did come with dipping oil and butter. The calamari was very flavorful, filled with sauce and peppers. Much different from other calamari I've had. Perfect portion for two. The salad was also basic, iceberg with a couple of tomatoes and sliced red onion. Balsamic or Italian dressing are the options and salad is included with all entrees. My husband's spaghetti and meatballs entree was a large portion but he said the spaghetti lacked flavor. The meatballs were fine but he wasn't raving. The Italian music had me humming along even when I didn't realize it. There are white columns throughout the interior, large paintings of Italian scenes, and tight table spaces. At 7:30 on a Friday, it was still half full, they close by 8. The best part of the experience was the great service. We'll go back and try a few other things. read more

First of all in regards to generous portions this restaurant gets five stars, unfortunately when it comes to taste, food quality all the way down to the sauce, this place tastes like microwave heaven. I ordered chicken parmesan which was huge but literally devoid of flavor. It was if it had been frozen for years and then reheated. It came with a side order of penne pasta which looked good but literally tasted blah. Now I have a bunch of leftovers that I will probably wouldn't feed to my dog. I really wanted to like Amelia's but their food is not fresh, their sauces taste awful and their chicken parmesan is dry as a desert. I will never eat here again. Sorry Italian food lovers, but Amelia's is a place you should forget about, not remember. read more

The food is as authentic as it gets. Always wonderful. We sometimes get it to go, but prefer to eat in. The ambiance is perfect. A relaxing dinner, quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Randy cooks "old school" from scratch and it's hard to find a favorite meal as they are all so good. read more

So good to see a locally owned restaurant in Bozeman. A bit off the beaten path on College but worth the try. Lots of atmosphere and ambiance. Friendly staff. Greeted by the wife of the duo owners. Friendly and polite. Tells you a bit of their story and that her husband is the chef. The food is good. Not perfect but certainly better than most. Prices are appropriate not excessive. The food at Amelia's is awesome, Way better then what i call Italian style eatery's in Bozeman. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. Some people think that Olive Garden is the best. We ate here for our Christmas dinner. There was a large group of us so they gave us a limited menu to choose from ahead of time. I got the chicken parmigiana and they made it gluten free. There were a few of us in the group that were gluten free, I don't know if it was made specially for us or if it's on the menu but it was really good. And a very generous amount of food. Authentic Italian is not heavily seasoned. So you can taste the actual tomato in the sauce. I would definitely eat here again. read more

The hostess, presumably the owner, was very awkward about seating us, and told us the story of the chef's mother then rambled on about shopping, and then just drifted away. The server was friendly and competent, but once we received our meals never checked back, or I would have told him how bad the food was...one of us had the fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli...it was a huge bowl of pasta swimming in a watery and tasteless "Alfredo" sauce with mushy broccoli. The other dish was chicken Marsala...the chicken was tender but that's all...the "Marsala sauce" was a thin, perhaps chicken broth based sauce with completely undercooked mushrooms, that had clearly never seen a bottle of Marsala, served with a side of cold penne in red sauce. What?!?! The calamari seemed to be hand-breaded, but was served in a sauce that just made it soggy. The bread was a small basket of sliced store bought French loaf with a little bowl of butter in plastic cups. The only thing on our table resembling what was on the menu was the mozzarella sticks. I was so disappointed and actually angry about the whole experience...but even so, I would have rather spoken to someone directly if they had bothered to ask. read more
