They are a wonderful married couple and hands-on owners. Atmosphere- It's dark and like most dive bars they do allow smoking. However, they do have several high-tech smoke-eaters installed in the ceiling that mitigate the damage. There are multiple pool tables, electronic games, and dart boards. Plenty of TVs. A Touch Tunes juke box of course. A relatively small l-shaped bar. The entire space is very clean and in much better shape than many dive bars. In true dive bar fashion, they are open from 9 am to 2 am every day of the week. There's nothing like a shot and a beer for breakfast to get your day started! Customer Service- Some of the bartenders have been there, done that for decades. You'll have no problem with service. Expect your drinks to be cheap and don't look for anything fancy. Tender, crispy, perfectly fried to a golden brown and lightly mixed with Thai sweet chili sauce. 10/10. My wife got their version of Shrimp Scampi, which was good, but very "wet", like the pasta wasn't fully drained or possibly pasta water was added to the pan and not reduced enough. It was also lacking in garlic flavor. Still good, but could've been better. I treated myself to the Frutti Di Mare, which was very good but suffered from the same problem as the Scampi, too wet. Unfortunately, in both dishes, that extra water diluted what could have been a very tasty sauce. It's too bad, but we see this watered down sauce dilution problem a lot in Italian restaurants. Overall, still a great experience and we'll be back at some point to give them another shot. We were told that they'll be rolling out some menu changes when they reopen after vacation.

It comes alive during major events like the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway, which draws racing fans from all over the world. There is also the Sebring Soda Festival, the Highlands County Fair, and various car shows and seasonal events that suddenly flood the town with energy. During those times, I imagine the entire vibe shifts. If I were to come back, it would be for one of those big events or for some serious antique shopping, because that is where this area quietly shines. Gavaghans fits perfectly into that Sebring personality. Cozy. A little unexpected. Solid. Worth stepping into. The answer is they didn't! It looks nothing like and Irish Pub. It's a large space with lots of natural light and traditional furniture. It has lots of outside seating that's covered with ceiling fans and many seats have a nice view! There is a very small bar that seats about six. In short, it looks like a Country Club restaurant. So much for pub ambience! Customer Service- Awesome, maybe seven stars! I had substantial interactions with the manager, bartender, and a server. All were exceptional. Adult Libations- Definitely not a pub style bar. It's a full bar with just a few taps but nothing special. Food- Like the ambience, it's an American menu with a couple of Irish dishes. There's Bangers & Mash and Shepard's Pie. Other than that, they throw in a couple of Irish terms to deceive you but it's really an American menu. There're enough choices to satisfy most folks. See their website. I ordered Irish Brisket Flatbread- Brisket, bacon, caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese @ $13. It was out in good time and plated very nicely. Plenty of food for the price so good value. The flatbread was nicely crisp. I love caramelized onions and that's the base here. Everything was very fresh. Plenty of brisket. Unfortunately, the onions overpowered the other ingredients, so the flavors were not balanced. It was tasty but needed a little work to be a winner. Conclusion- If you're looking for an Irish Pub, you're in the wrong place. If you're looking for an American menu that has some potential with a great staff and beautiful outside seating, give it a try. As they are new and the staff is awesome combined with the outside seating, I'm going to be a little charitable and say four stars!

Arriving- They are in the old Sonny's BBQ directly on US Route 27 South so getting there is a snap. The parking lot is adequate but tough when it gets busy. Note that they are open 7 days for lunch and dinner. Pro Tip- The Handicapped parking spots are unusually far away from the entrance. If you can, consider dropping off an impaired dining partner at the door prior to parking. Ambience- The inside has been completely remodeled with calming grey & black tones. There are high-tops, 2 and 4 tops, and booths. Even after five months it is immaculate. Wi-Fi- The system is there but there is NO customer Wi-Fi! Shame on them! Adult Libations- Beer and wine. I asked about red wine choices and was told Merlot or Cabernet. I chose Merlot and received a completely acceptable wine and a very large pour @$6 See my picture. Customer Service- The staff looks very comfortable in a uniform of jeans and black logo T-shirts. My service was 5-star with no complaints. A pleasant surprise is that many of the other servers smiled at me when they walked past! Food- American comfort food. Some folks call them a bbq joint as they offer ribs and pulled pork, but they have a broader menu then the typical "Q" joint. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich @$12. I chose Blackened but Lemon Pepper or plain were also available. It comes with one side from a huge list of 15 and I went with fries. Next time I'm trying Roasted Corn Salad @$3 as it looks amazing! It came out quickly and was plated nicely as you can see from my picture. Portion size was more than enough for lunch. It was a delicious meal! Most importantly the Blackened Chicken was nicely seasoned and still moist. The veges were perfectly fresh. The fries were drool worthy. A nice crunch on the outside, soft in the middle and not greasy. Someone in the kitchen knows how to run a fryer! Pro Tip- Although I did not sample it, folks are saying that if you chose beef as your protein, it was not what they expected. Maybe check out some pics before you order. Conclusion- I had a great experience even without Wi-Fi. I'm going 4.5 stars and rounding up to 5!
