My family LOVES AMC 20. Great location near the mall and other restaurants. Bathrooms are always clean. Management is great. The Screen quality and surround sound are both excellent. I have never waited in a line for more than 10 minutes to get tickets or candy. I spent over $1,200 last year at the theater and I have a Stubs card so i received $120 worth of rewards that are good for movies or concessions. Get a Stubs card for free upgrades on concessions and also sign up for their emails and they will send you deals and coupons every week! I got an email last week saying I get 2 free tickets to see "The Age of Adaline" just for being a stubs member! I gave them 4 stars because they do not have dine in movies at this location. My boyfriend and I were not allowed into a pg13 movie, after we had already spent the money with AMC for tickets. The reason being, he had left his Id at home. Even though I'm 20, he's 23. He was able to find his birth certificate in his wallet, but they still wouldn't let us in. Like he is going to carry around someone else's birth certificate! We are both grown adults, college students, and have children. I was told because I won't be 21 for 2 more months we can't be allowed in. My boyfriend is 6,6', has a full beard, and is covered in tattoos. It was completely ridiculous and when I asked the rude lady "Stilla" for a manager she threatened to call the mall cop on me. Got to put seats to find someone else sitting there and to top it all off people had kids running around screaming while the parents played on cellphones and held conversations the entire time. A little older then the Town Center AMC I also go to. They've kept it up well. Saw my first 3-D movie here and was impressed. Transformers 3 was better than the second and had plenty of 3D throughout. (It wasn't an afterthought. As the movie was on the way out, there was plenty of seating. We got good seats 10min after start and at the actual start of the movie. One definitely good thing is it doesn't have the assigned seating. I never know what row is at the right height online so not having it here is a blessing. It's worth coming up from Lees Summit for the good ones. read more

Haven't been to this theater in a while and I won't be going back anytime soon. While the screen was nice and large, stadium seating well designed, the good things end there. First of all, the lobby was steaming hot while the theater was ice cold. I really don't enjoy getting frostbite while trying to watch a movie. However it seems most theaters do this for some reason and the real problem was in the cleanliness. It was obvious the theater hadn't been cleaned between movie showings as there was spilled popcorn, starburst wrappers, and movie tickets laying in the floor and seats. But the worst part was the seats themselves. Every one of them had brown stains embedded into what little cushion was left. They were so dirty it was disgusting. Despite the freezing temperature I chose to sit on the blanket I brought instead of covering myself with it because I didn't want my pants to touch those gag-worthy seats. Then, after the show when I went to the bathroom and there was poop on one of the toilet seats. This place is so gross you can feel how unclean it is. So not going back. read more

They have more security these days. I don't like running into a bunch of teenagers. I'm always puzzled by why they are a bunch of food stations but they only ever open the main one. Why is that? Why wouldn't they open them up or re-use the space for something else. It doesn't make sense; business wise. For example they could add the food service and bar if they re-used the space. That would make it a better location. As a business investor, I see lots of areas for improvement. read more

AMC 20 was my go-to theater growing up and I really like it. Compared to some of the other theaters in town, this place is much larger and newer. Concessions are expensive (as they are anywhere) so I just eat an extra helping at the kitchen table and skip the popcorn. There are tons of screens so I hardly ever have to wait to see a movie, and and if I do have to wait, there are arcade games in the lobby to help pass the time. I will admit there are some things I don't like, mainly the inflated prices. Also, I most recently came here to watch Les Mis, and the volume was turned so loud the vents were buzzing throughout the movie. That was really annoying. But even though this is really more of a four-star kind of theater, I bumped it up because this is where I had the first date with the man I would later marry, so AMC 20 will always hold a special place in my heart. read more

Close to my neighborhood but that is about only benefit. Employees rude and slow, refused to offer me the freshly made popcorn, insisted I had to take the who knows how old stuff. Which was apparently made yesterday and very stale. No salt, butter dispenser empty, All concessions way overpriced. Will sneak in my own soda and snacks from now on. Seats comfy, sound and picture quality OK, but aisle littered with popcorn and soda cups, Place just smelled bad? Above is why we ONLY go for special movies that we definitely want to see. My wife and I have had both good and bad experiences here. To me, this place is about an average score. Here's our 'bad' experience. It's really not bad. Just a bit frustrating. We go to see a movie, A Million Ways to Die in the West. The theater they put it in was around the corner in one of their smaller rooms. The tickets we had said one theater number. The marquee above the theater said another. The theater our ticket said to go to said 'Maleficent' on it at a similar time to our movie (7:25 for Maleficent, 7:35 for our movie). Across the hallway was our movie at a 7:45 time. So what do we and several other theater goers do? Instead of following what the ticket said, we followed the marquees. We sat and waited until 7:45 and Blended started showing. Turns out, the ticket was correct and the theater that said it was showing Maleficent at 7:25 started showing our movie at 7:35. Most of the people in the theater, us included, walked out. However, the front desk was understanding and we told them why we wanted a refund. They gave us 2 free passes which we used about 2 weeks later. So, it was a mistake by the management to not correct the marquees, but we still got to see a movie on that money we spent. Typical theater fare in food here. We prefer a large popcorn and 2 sodas. Seating is standard for theaters, but felt a little cramped in our last visit. Not a bad place. Just average. read more

This was a nice theater in an area with lots of restaurants and shopping. Prices were reasonable for a weekend matinee, however, there was a bit of a line and only one person taking money. Concession area offered the usual options, as well as some hot food. You could order online ahead of time and have it ready, which is cool. I also likes that they gave me a cup and I could fill my own soda, plus get refills. Theater itself was comfortable - seats didn't recline but they were wide and comfy. First of all be very careful of germs. This place is disgusting. Old seats that need cleaned. We went into theatre 7 and oh my gosh. Poop on the seats. Sperm on the seats. Smells. They keep it so dark so you don't see this. Use your flashlight and take a look. We left and told the manager we wanted our money back. We also explained this to them and one of the supervisors said oh yeah prob from the recent movie 50 shades of gray. Seriously!!!!! You know this is happening inside theatres and you ignore it. The theater was the smartest place to go on the 4th of July. We were warm and bored. We saw "The Heat" and laughed and laughed. Complaints? The price of food is ridiculous. And, the amount of previews and commercials needs to be dropped down. While watching the previews, and waiting for the actual movie to start, we started wondering if there was a rain delay. Typical movie theater. Clean for the most part. Customer service is good. Popcorn is sometimes good, sometimes not. They don't layer butter on the popcorn, instead offer for you to put butter on yourself. So, if the popcorn is not stale, you end up with good butter popcorn on top and m'eh below, or completely soaked popcorn on top to try and get the bottom popcorn decent. Their rewards program is better than nothing, but Theater companies in other parts of the nation have much better programs (Harkins Theaters is my favorite). It's the nearest decent theater to Lee's Summit, and that seems sad to say that. read more

I wanted to go see Finding Dory with my cousin who lives out of town. So, we obviously thought an AMC theater would be a good way to go! We were very wrong. We were going to go at a 7:00 showing and we ended up missing that one. We tried to go to a 9:00 showing instead. When we got there the employees were rude and overall hateful. I was shocked since AMC theaters are typically very friendly. As we were buying our tickets, the worker asked for our IDs! I was flabbergasted that we needed identification for a PG movie. We couldn't see it because I'm only 17. No other theater has ever carded me to see a PG movie. I'll guess I'll "just keep swimming" to a different theater. read more

I dont typically leave reviews but I felt everyone should know about this. I go to AMC 20 all the time. Its not the best theater but it is decent for watching movies. They are slowly but surely upgrading everything around the theater. I was in line waiting for the person I came with to get her popcorn and in front of her were two little boys wanting to get ice cream and they didnt have enought money. Michael was behind the counter and told them to come up and he got out his wallet and paid with his own money to help this little kids get some ice cream. This might be the dirtiest movie theater I have ever frequented. There is popcorn in literally almost every seat and all over the floor. One of the worser AMCs in the area, they do not clean the seats or the floors, the food is really overpriced, I paid $15 for stale popcorn, as for the employees..yikes. Too many snotty teenagers who either ignore you or act unbelievably rude to you. Also the inside of the theaters are freezing so if you do decide to come here, bring a jacket. Avoid this location if you're not a stubs member. They now have two lines, one for stubs and one for non-stubs for both the box office and concession. The employees are instructed to serve stub members first. So you're left standing there while they make sure no stub members are in sight then they attempt to wait on you. It's one thing to have concession upgrades, but to treat paying customers with disgrace because they're not the 'right' type of customer is something else. read more

The manager here has been Peter-principled up past his level of incompetence, and is evidently the reason that this theater is empty. We planned our evening around a 7:45 movie. When we arrived at the movie theater the time had been changed to 7:15 and there were no tickets available. Instead of accommodating us somehow, the manager convinced us that we had looked at a rogue site with incorrect times and we should now buy tickets for a different movie we didn't want to see. (When we got home, we found through our browsing history that indeed it was correctly amctheatres.com and saved a screen shot.) We bought other tickets, waited to watch the movie at the next showtime, 9:50, then he accused us of "stealing" a movie while we waited. After we bought $30.00 worth of concessions at 9:50 and $8.00 at 7:45, he asked us to leave at 9:50 humiliating us completely as if I was a teenager (I am an educated and ethical man in my sixth decade of life). We had to carry our useless refreshments out. In the process it came out that he remembered us from our prior Yelp review (the paragraph below) and was retaliating. The theater was completely empty (maybe four or six other people). No wonder. read more
