Went here to see How to Train Your Dragon live action movie on a Friday night, not too busy. The main bathrooms in front, in the men's bathroom, 5/7 stalls were taped off. The water cups are very small. This stuff alone only knocks it down some but in theater 8, which is the one we were in, the screen was damaged, so you could see streaks of light when the projection hit it. Not a big fan of going to movie theaters because I viewed it as a complete waste of money. Went here with my kids to see the new Spiderman movie and was definitely concerned after reading so many poor reviews, but our options were limited. Theater and bathrooms were very clean. Very nice reclined seats that you can lay down in. I also like the different seating chart than other movie theaters which aisles are very spread apart. The only down side is my water was $6. Overall I recommend! read more

We came here yesterday to see Doctor Sleep, we were in town staying at the Country Inn and it turned out that it was right next door to the movie theater, which was great. The theater has all recliners which were very comfortable, the actual theater where we saw our movie was not stadium seating but was fine. What's funny is that you can tell that this theater used to be a Star Theater, and they renovated it but did not renovate the bathrooms; their bathrooms looked like the ones at my local AMC Star Southfield. There is plenty of parking around even though we walked from the hotel, as well. Overall this was a pleasant theater to see a movie at, and I would come back again when in the area. read more

Went to see top gun for date night. We show up and there's an awful smell like the plumbing was backed up. The concessions was out of 6 different food options and the theatre was extremely messy with no tables cleaned by their open bar to get drinks. We couldn't even sit our cups down without them being sticky at the table. Went to sit at our spots and neither chair had been cleaned, butter had gotten on my pants even though I tried wiping the seat. Wasn't worth the high prices. read more

So they remodeled the place not too long ago and the one great addition was supposed to be the ability to get alcoholic drinks at the movies. Both times we've been here we haven't been able to. The first time, we waited/watched as the bartender struggled to open a bottle of wine and serve 3 customers for 15 minutes before we gave up and had to get to our movie. This last (maybe forever) time- the bar was closed completely, it was Friday, and a manager said they didn't have a bartender. The sign on the bar, however, said they were having equipment issues. The only reason we bothered to go here was the bar since both holland theaters play exactly the same movies. Grand haven is just as close to us and features a more varied movie list. They don't have a bar but, really, neither does this place. read more

The movie theater has the reclining seats which makes it comfortable to watch the movie and it's pretty clean. However, walking up to the entrance of the theater I couldn't help but notice that all the windows indoors need to be thoroughly cleaned. The doors had a lot of fingerprint smudges on both sides of each door. read more

I think Holland's AMC renovated just in the nick of time to save its own tush. For awhile there I would only come if Holland 7 was sold out. I found myself here for a $4.50 matinee for The Last Jedi - what a steal - and got to experience the new recliners. It's about time. They also have a bar now where the arcade games used to be, which intrigues me enough to return. The recliners are not as comfy or roomy as Holland 7's, especially if you're larger but the arm rest divider does slide up. I notice the lines can get pretty long here and Stubs members always get priority so I HIGHLY recommend ordering tickets on your phone ahead of time or using the kiosks they have. It's way way way easier and quicker. Trash cans were overflowing like crazy before the 7 o'clock show times even started. They have Dyson hand driers in the bathroom now but still have paper towels? Defeats the entire purpose of environmental friendly, and again: overflowing trash. I never buy concessions so I can't comment on that. I wish they would play a greater variety of movies; I hate coming home on breaks and not being able to see any Oscar contenders because Holland theaters only show blockbusters. All in all, not terrible anymore and I'll come back. read more

went to see the barbie movie around 4pm and the theater only had popcorn available to purchase and no other concessions were there. every time i go for a movie the variety of the concessions is never really on par for its brand. let alone those who clean the theater rooms are never thorough with the cleaning i end up always seeing popcorn in the cracks of the seats and the seat in front of me. read more

I had a horrible experience here tonight! It was mainly because of the customers! I go to a movie for the experience of it and the feel it gives! Yes, sometimes I find myself laughing or freaking out because of the different energy involved in the movie! Tonight, we went to see the movie Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark! Yes, it was scary and had some scares and thrills! What do they expect us to just sit there and be mindless corpses watching a movie like that? We had some people go and tattle tail on us like we were in grade school or something and someone cut in line, haha!! What a joke!! Guess what? Other people were talking too and whispering or causing a commotion but they were white people and wow, what do you know, they weren't ever told to be quiet!! Makes ya wonder, doesn't it? My husband and I were confronted by the staff who told us we need to be quiet like good little boys and girls or we may get a slap on our hand!! Okay, we will be good!! Maybe you should have told your white 'Dutch People' the same thing!! Oh, I forgot, "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much!!" Right!?! And another thing I should mention is who in the heck would bring a toddler or infant into a movie with horrifying creatures, knowing damn straight it will terrify their poor child!! I feel for those children and us ethnically ambiguous people are the ignorant ones? Nope. I give them a 1 star for showing us the ignorance and mentality of their business as a whole! You know a person by the company they keep!! If they are willing to cater to the egotistical mentality of the white man, they deserve a 1 or less!! Plus, signed seating, really? Are we all back in Sunday School class holding hands and making sure not to spill our milk and cookies!?! Okay, well if you feel we are all so infantile, there is your infantile score!! I will take my business elsewhere when I go see the movie 'It Part 2' which we are really looking forward to! We will go back to North Star Cinemas in Rockford or the Greenville Cinemas!! There was a lot of jumps and plot twists you really wouldn't even think of or see coming! My husband was right, whoever the four writers are, they definitely deserve an Oscar!! If you can go to another theater, do it. This AMC had the nastiest ladies' restroom I've seen in a theater. Nothing looks clean, not the floor, or sink, or countertop around the sink. The walls around the hand dryers are disgusting. I hope their snack bar is cleaner than the ladies' room. Update-- one of the major networks had an interesting piece about how many germs there are in theaters. The worst offender was the top of the butter dispenser, it is NEVER cleaned, then you thrust your hand in the popcorn and munch away. Yuck. All the theaters checked were AMCs. read more

Part of the movie-going experience for us is having popcorn and pop while watching the show. I must admit that the price we paid for popcorn/pop actually exceeded the cost of two senior tickets which is pretty crazy. We came here on a Sunday night to enjoy a show and got our popcorn. We both like a lot of butter, so once the bucket was about halfway done I came out to get more butter. Surprisingly, both butter machines were turned off........and it was only about 7:30. The one employee stated that was their policy and he could turn them on again but it would take too long..........really? When I spend $15 on popcorn/pop I think I should be able to come out and add on more butter at 7:30. After the movie was over I tried to talk to someone about this again, and finally saw what was the manager-in-training coming out from the restroom she had been cleaning. Not too much compassion was shown for the lack of butter situation, and a simple "here's a coupon for a free one next time" would've calmed me down, but nothing!! I believe if we ever go there again I would have to bring a container of melted butter along, or maybe better yet, go to one of the other theaters in town. read more

Arrived to locked door 30 minutes before our show. While tickets were dirt cheap (4 for $15), concessions were not. Large popcorn and two drinks was $20. And it tasted like yesterday's popcorn poured out of a garbage bag. The seats are uncomfortable. Flat and all on same level no stadium seating. I am going to be sore having to hold myself up for the next 2 1/2 hours. I sure hope the movie is worth the theater. read more

I've been going to this theater since I was born, and it seems like they haven't updated a single thing since. When we got in there were just a bunch of people sitting around. there was nobody up there to buy our tickets from, so we just used the machine to do it ourselves. after we got up to the concession stand someone finally came over and wasn't friendly at all. we payed $20+ for a pop, popcorn, and some candy, and the popcorn was cold and tasted a day old. will definitely not be coming back here. read more

Went to see Knives Out last night. The place was packed and yet it was clean - both in the theatre and in the restrooms. Popcorn was good, staff were pleasant, and the other people watching were good too, no loud talkers. read more

This theater has nice reclining seats, but that is about all of the nice amenities that this theater has. They had coffee and hot tea on the menu for a while, but every time I asked for it, the response from the kids behind the counter, "I don't know where the coffee and tea are kept and I don't know how to do it". Well, then, find out! Don't just stand there with a glazed-over look of stupidity on your face. They subsequently removed coffee and tea from the menu, leaving us with only sugary, carbonated cold drinks, overpriced popcorn and candy, and high-sodium foods. Not a good thing in January and February, when the temperature doesn't get above 25 degrees and there is a blizzard outside. Another issue is that theater staff doesn't monitor the teens that talk loudly during movies, play games on their phones, and do other disruptive things. Common etiquette is to TURN OFF your phones and shut up until the movie ends! Why pay money for a movie when you are going to miss everything by fiddling with your phones and talk? Staff doesn't do anything to discourage this, unlike at Holland 7. Then again, theater staff doesn't seem to do much of anything at all. The condition of this theater is always gross. Popcorn everywhere, staff doesn't clean the floor behind the concession stand (which is on view for EVERYONE to see), teenage staff doesn't do anything but stand around and talk all the time (and ignore paying customers), and the drink stations are always sticky and littered with stray lids, straws, and napkins. Also, the selection of movies really sucks. Nothing but PG and PG-13 movies or the pseudo-smut "50 Shades" movies. If I wanted to see a Bambi-type flick, I would visit the forest, not pay $9-10 for a simulated version. I can't wait until the new luxury theater opens downtown. We drove from Grand Rapids for a free screening so we do not normally go to this location. The staff all seemed very young and immature. While waiting for the screening to start we tried to play air hockey, the machine ate our money. When I went to the box office, she did give me my money back but even when I suggested an 'out of order' sign she did not seem to worried about it. Every person that we asked a question to seemed very uninterested and careless with any customer service related issue or question. It was a very odd experience and I wouldn't go to that theater again unless I had another screening to attend. read more

Movie theater smells like an old, un-freshened workout room that cowers upon hearing "febreze"...Although they make up for it with the reclining seats and superior picture to Goodrich Holland 7, it doesn't justify the bleach bath I'll be taking tonight to rid myself of all the gunk I received from my seating. read more

As the frantic mother of three very social girls (this means there's always many of us arriving at the last second), the staff has always accommodated us. The old adage rode hard and put away wet describes this theater perfectly. At one time it was probably a very nice theater, but now needs a lot of work. Padding in chairs is worn out and broken armrests make for an uncomfortable movie. Time for a renovation guys. read more

Went to see a 2 o'clock showing of Spectre. It wasn't very busy which was nice. The staff were not very friendly and acted like they were bored. It was clean. (Which is why I was generous with the 3 stars.) The seating is old school. You are close to the rows in front of and behind you, so not much leg room. The seats are uncomfortable and made it hard to sit through the whole movie. Next time I'll go to GR to watch a movie. read more

This theater has always been horrible, but it has gone down hill to the point that even a good movie will not make up for the bad experience. First, the place is really dirty and oily. A lot of the building itself is in need of repair and proper upkeep. Secondly, the prices for concession. They are way too expensive. A pop and popcorn combo is as much as buying the movie when it comes out on DVD. In all, I had three reasons to why I bought my movie ticket and just that. One being the price and the second being the employees and lastly being the popcorn situation. The employees did not look like they wanted to be there. Popcorn was being dumped into the bin from a pre-made bag as the employee moved the popcorn out of the bag with her hand while I was at the concession. Went to a movie the night prior at Holland 7 (One of the best movie theaters in our area) and should have just stayed away from Holland 8/Star Theater. It's too bad that movie I saw at The Star was only available there :/ read more
