I've been here a few times and overall it's pretty good. But I can only recommend the Dolby Cinema or indie films. Pros: - Dolby Cinema theatre is amazing. Best image quality I've seen in a projector. Great surround sound. Comfy recliner seats. - 30 theatres means there's a lot of variety, with showings for smaller films which may not be available at other theaters - 70mm standard projectors available for some films. Sharper image than standard 35mm projectors. Cons: - Subpar IMAX, not worth the money. It's just a standard IMAX projector, not 70mm or laser projector. Theatre felt small. - Only 1Dolby Cinema theatre? AMC really needs at least 2 theatres, it greatly limits availability of showtimes for the format. - Stadium seating in all theatres but Dolby Cinema. Most competing cinemas have upgraded to recliners by now, I'd at least like to see recliners in their other premium format theatres. read more

I don't usually go to AMC theaters, but I was meeting some friends for a movie. The whole theater is huge, but the individual one we were in wasn't very big. There didn't seem to be many people here on a Sunday afternoon, so it seemed silly to have to choose our seats in advance. As with most theaters now, they showed a half hour of previews and commercials, which gets to be trying. I was disappointed that they didn't have reclining seats, although the seats were pretty comfortable. The women's restroom looked nice, but there was a rather foul smell. I noticed that, unlike the Emagine & MJR theaters, they don't seem to have $5 movies on Tuesdays, but they do seem to offer some discount for members on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. read more

I came here recently for an Advanced Screening. While waiting in line, this old man began verbally abusing the woman next to him, making everyone in line uncomfortable. Staff did NOTHING about it. See vid (if they don't remove it), where I captured the tail end of his rant. Later, this dude with 4 Stanley tumblers started filling them with Icee flavors. I informed a manager, who just looked at me without saying or doing anything. The staff need to be ACTIVE and take care of issues as they arise. "Customers" blatantly stealing in front of other guests and you do nothing? A man verbally abusing another guest, screaming profanities VERY LOUDLY, and you do nothing? I started going to AMC forum 30 for movies my local AMC does not show. This location has a nicer looking lobby, entryway, concessions and bathrooms than the Madison Heights location. It also offers IMAX and Dolby which are not offered near me. The only downside is that for 27 of its theaters, the chairs are old school ((no reclining, limited cup holders). This seems to turn people away as I've had the theater to myself for the 2 movies I saw in the older style theaters. The imax and Dolby theaters have modern seats. I'm thankful for this location, as I've seen some great movies that weren't showing elsewhere. read more

We haven't gone to the movies in a really long time, and now I remember why. It's been a rough week, so we decided to pick a movie And relax in the afternoon. The first check, was that a small popcorn was $10. It wasn't even freshly popped. The popcorn machine was sitting there cold and dark, and all the bags were already prepared under a heat lamp. One small popcorn and one box of milk duds was over $15. We were the only ones in the theatre, Literally the only two souls there. The seats are old, outdated, uncomfortable And I wasn't sure what biological materials were on those velvet seats. The movie time was 2:40, But the actual movie did not start until after 3 PM. I've seen cockroaches in the men's room in the main lobby on several occasions. I mentioned them to cleaning staff but no action has been taken. Manager is nowhere to be fould. read more

Went to see "Masters of the Universe" last night and decided to see it at AMC based on movie times. We were in theater 17. Although the movie was a lot of fun, the accommodations were really bad. The seats were broken and dirty and very small and uncomfortable. No reclining or heat/cooling comfort like other venues. Also, there were maybe 7 lights in the theater that were out. Just a bad theater experience overall. We will definitely never go back. AMC, you need to fix your stuff and make some improvements, or go out of business, period. Your choice. read more

I feel as if this is common knowledge by now just by viewing some of the reviews, but this AMC is in need of desperate help. A once incredible theater (quite literally THE theater to go to in the 2000s), AMC Forum 30 is a shell of itself now. This theater needs a complete update from the exterior, landscaping, interior, theaters themselves, basically all of it. It's rough because from a business standpoint, I'm sure they don't want to update because ticket sales are down. However, I'd argue that ticket sales are down because there are much better theaters in the area now that are also cheaper. I'm not a big MJR guy, but there are two in a decent area of this one that are a big improvement compared to AMC. Now the real big blow that probably put them in the gutter is Emagine. When Emagine got bigger in the area, it was more expensive than AMC. Now, the tables have turned and AMC is more expensive than Emagine but also puts out a worse product. The AMC's in the Metro Detroit area need a serious upgrade and sooner rather than later. I won't be back in here in a long time, if ever if I'm being honest. It's a shame because I was here multiple times a month as a kid. This place used to have character and whimsy. Now, it's as dead as a doorknob. Wish them luck. read more

This is the only tolerable AMC in my area in my personal opinion and even then, I only come here if I have no other choice. Typically that means for limited release movies that sadly don't come to Emagine and those are relatively rare. Came here last week to see one of those limited release ones and was surprised and decently pleased to find that AMC does offer pre-made ranch seasoned popcorn. It's expensive, all of their concessions are astronomically expensive, but this popcorn is surprisingly tasty, bigger heirloom-esque kernels, and I'd get it again even as someone who isn't the biggest fan of popcorn. read more

25 minutes of previews AFTER show start time! Seats do not even tilt back at the head, let alone recline! Do not go here. I don't like doing bad reviews, but people should know and be warned. Details: Show time 1:50 pm, movie did not start until 2:15 pm. Waste of my time, and tough for my kid to be waiting for her big movie. The theater was clean and the staff were incredibly friendly. It was a little odd not having the name of the film outside of the auditorium. I had to be real careful when I went to the bathroom to remember which one we were in. My biggest complaint is that we had to sit through 25 minutes of previews after the start time ( this is not an exaggeration, I checked the time). We could have been halfway through the first act! I understand an handful of previews, but it was a little too much, in my opinion. read more

I definitely would NOT use this theater to see a Met opera show. When I went last month the audience was told there would be no show for technical problems. Tonight I buy a ticket, buy concessions and wait for showtime. A kid comes in and tells us that his manger says there would be no show for technical problems. A whole month later and the same result. I went to an IMAX showing of Wonka on premier night. The lobby area was clean. I was greeted by the snack bar staff who were friendly and helped suggest snacks. The popcorn and beverage was shockingly expense for what I received but they have a captive audience. Once I got in the theater, I found it to be clean and the seats comfortable. read more

Have a bunch of gift cards- decided to use one, when I saw a 10 am showing.LARGE chuckle , when purchasing tickets- older manager said seats had to be picked out before time. Our last AMC Theaters experience was not good so when we won movie tickets at a drawing we were happy and apprehensive at the same time. We definitely would not go to the previous AMC location so when a movie premiered that we wanted to see I checked which AMC Theaters were showing it and this was the only reasonable choice. When we arrived there was plenty of parking although it was an afternoon showing and not too busy. We approached the ticket windows and there was only one that was open serving one customer; we were next in line. But while we waited some people arrived for the A-List and Premium member line. When the window cleared Mandy called people from the other line. More people arrived in that line and were again called ahead of us. Now I'm not against this system and have had similar advantages at other businesses. What was bad here was only having one ticket window open. When we left after the movie I noticed there was still only one ticket window open! Once we entered the actual theater things were looking up. Unlike the other AMC experience at least the (non-rocking or reclining) seats were clean. The audio and video part of the experience were good. But after the experience at the ticket window, I won't be back! read more

Lately I've been going to see movies with a friend who is enrolled in the AMC stubs program so it's been a lot of AMC for me. And we've been driving farther to the Forum rather than go to the Star Gratiot since they have a lot more showtimes so it seems to work out better time wise. Also this place is a lot less depressing than the Star Gratiot but that's a topic for another review. I'd been to this multiplex at least a couple of other times solo, too, coming here to see Solo, now that I think about it. Yup, the most mediocre Star Wars movie ever. This multiplex is pretty mediocre, too. You got your overpriced concessions that make me feel like a glutton since the large popcorn and large fountain drink combo is like 50 cents more than buying smaller sizes so I feel like an idiot if I don't. I never finish my huge popcorn and don't empty my fountain drink in the theater either. Sometimes I take it with me in the car but no way will that ginormous cup fit in my console so today I just pitched it. The poor maintenance workers that have to haul away those trash bags, all sloshing around with high fructose corn syrup. I do like that they have those freestyle machines with dozens and dozens of flavors, although today they were out of the lime flavored Seagram's ginger ale I like to get every time. That might have had something to do with me pitching my pink lemonade after the show as well. We came here to see Eternals in the IMAX theater a couple weeks ago and it did add some more of the epicness that movie was trying so hard for, but I feel like the IMAX here isn't as big as the AMC Fairlane. I dunno, I'd probably have to revisit that one sometime in the next several months to have a less foggy point of reference. Neither can mess with the IMAX at the Henry Ford at any rate. The regular theaters here have the tiered, spaced out seating of most modern theaters but not the nice reclining seats of the IMAX. (At least not the theater for Dune today. I'm scratching my head trying to remember for Shang-Chi and Black Widow. At most one might have had the reclining seats.) And despite the way the theaters feel pretty expansive stretching back, there's not a lot of leg room. I kept moving my legs around uncomfortably during the two and a half hour movie. Fortunately, the theater was nearly empty and I could rest a leg on the arm rest of the seat in front of me. But even that would get uncomfortable after a little while. Restrooms seem to be conveniently located near theaters on both ends of the sprawling multiplex. I've been to huge theaters where the johns are way back in the main lobby and it's a mad sprint to not miss too much of the film when the ol' bladder can't last the whole way through, especially when you're washing down salty popcorn with Big Gulp sized fountain drinks. Not so here. Location is not the best. Hall Road is an ugly thoroughfare prone to traffic jams but with the other cross street, Mound Road under construction, Hall is actually the lesser of the two evils, sad to say. It still beats going to AMC Star Gratiot. There was nearly a full half hour of previews and ads before Dune today. I wish they'd retire that dumb ass M & Ms ad already. I swear, I've seen it before any movie at any chain theater for the last 6 or 7 years! At least there's no stupid MJR song here. That song is an abomination and you're an idiot if you like it or, shudder, actually clap for it. Looking back, this review is pretty heavy on the complainy side but I really do love the movies, that larger than life feeling you just can't get from watching something at home. And you could do worse than this big ol 30plex. At least if you're going to see big budget blockbuster type fare. I got other places I go to for the more offbeat stuff. read more

This theater is fine and has a lot of movie selections but no recliner seats, which is getting very popular around the various theatres. The restrooms are a bit confusing and I've seen men walk in the women's bathroom and women walk in the men's bathroom. Like a typical movie theater the food prices are ridiculous. A small popcorn (which they call regular) is over $8 with tax and the next size up is the family bucket for about $1 more. The volume in the theatre is fine and it appears to be kept clean. read more

Some theaters need to be updated. Seating was not comfortable in the last theater we were in back in February 2024.

I love coming here for a lot of different reasons, even though it's not the closest theatre to my home. For starters, they offer a great selection of movies, and have 30 movie screens going with all sorts of movies to see at a variety of different times. I discovered this place by accident. I come to this side of town regularly, but since I can't see it from the road, I did not know that it even existed until I googled a certain movie a few years ago. To my surprise, this place is actually pretty nice. Parking is easy and convienient, and I never have to walk very far or fight for a spot like other theatres. The place is large, and they even have a bar inside with booze! Another bonus that keeps me coming back is the fact that even for a weekend evening show, it's only $9 and change to see a movie. I love that they don't charge an arm and a leg for evening weekend shows like other theatres do. Also, the staff here is super friendly and helpful. Ticket lines move quickly, bathrooms are clean and well stocked and I always get a good seat in the theatre regardless. The only downside is that the chairs are not comfy recliners like other theatres. The seats are comfortable, but the only thing I wish they had were those big comfy chairs like Emagine theatres have. Besides that, this place rocks! Also, if your looking for a good place to eat, they are located in a nice strip mall with tons of different restaurants. Everything from Texas Roadhouse, to a few fast food joints depending on what it is your looking for. Plenty of shopping as well, which makes it convienient to park and not have to pull out onto the main roads for anything. As usual, I never buy snacks here because as with all movie theatres, they are overpriced and stupid. Even if they were affordable, I would still pass because I am just that way. Will return in the future, I just wish they would upgrade their seats like everyone else already! read more

I went to screen 14 and it was absolutely vile. There were stains all over the seats and armrests, and some of the stains were looking real questionable. We questioned leaving because it was so bad but paid so much that it wasn't worth it. I also don't get why they even had one of the seats we bought for sale since it was literally missing the bottom part of it. I can't speak on the rest of the screens, but overall the entire movie theatre was disgusting and very clearly not well maintained. In the main lobby there was dirt caked into the carpet and the outside looks like this place has been abandoned for quite some time. The staff and popcorn were good but that doesn't make up for the dumpster fire that is AMC30. If you're looking for a good experience, don't go here. It's not worth the time or the money. Absolutely will never be coming back. The pictures don't even do justice to just how bad it was, basically every seat was covered in stains. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

This wasn't the experience I Emagined it would be. I haven't been to this theater in several years. The main reason for not coming is the outdated feel and cleanliness (or lack of). But when I went to the website they advertised reclining seats. So we gave it a try. We bought tickets using the AMC app, which, unlike the competition, charges you a service fee when you use the app. We'll, nothing has changed. The theater we had tix for didn't have recliners. When we asked they told us only the Dolby theaters have the recliners. The seats in our theater were FILTHY. I felt like I should have brought a towel to sit on. The bathrooms were clean and the picture and sound quality were decent. For the same price, I'll go to the competition and have a much more enjoyable experience. read more

Went to see a movie here for the first time in years. My boyfriend and I both have nostalgia growing up in this specific AMC theater and we' were excited to go back. It is a complete dump now. Chairs have massive gross stains and not to mention uncomfortable! We saw almost a 3 hour movie and did not feel comfortable the entire time. My boyfriend at one point even had to walk out for 10 minutes just due to being so uncomfortable. For the amount of money that was spent on tickets online and a convenience fee, plus how much drinks and food are, you would think they would have updated it after years! Updating this again, four years later. Came here tonight to see Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, as it's one of only two theaters in the area that are currently playing it. There was only myself plus two others in the theater so it was almost like a private screening. The Forum loses a star from me this time because I could hear the sounds from the theater next door... Not crazy loud, but still enough to take away from the movie I was watching. I think I even recognized it as Fifty Shades Freed, lol.... This was theater #28 if AMC is reading this. I'd like them to have recliners at some point too, like AMC John R has, but their seats are mostly fine. For some reason there was a line tonight (maybe because Tuesday is $5 ticket day for Stubs members?) so I was able to use my MoviePass card to buy ticket at a kiosk instead. (I also wish that AMCs would let me use my Stubs card with MoviePass, but that's for another review....) Overall, an OK theater, but one I only go to when I'm looking to see a movie that's not playing near me, like today. read more

Upon entering theatre 12, you can smell the dusty/ dirty smell. Stained seats that are worn out. In need of an update for sure. Afternoon movie at $7.69 per ticket. A bit pricey for the condition of the theater. A very long line also but since we used our fandango Christmas gift, we had to buy online. Also charged a $4.50 convenience fee to use the Fandango card but we didn't have to wait in line. We won't be back. read more

So I bought 3 tickets for IMAX 3D for Thor:Love and Thunder. One of the seats I bought was broken/missing with a bag over the seat back. The seats are still the original from when they built the theater in screen 14 while some other screens here are updated reclining leather. This is the same reason their Southfield premier theater closed down. They never updated the theaters. The arm rest are stained black with dirt and the seats are covered in many different stains. The parking lot has weeds growing in every single crack, it actually looked like it was abandoned. While this is the closest theater to us I will never venture here again. I will go to Emagine or MJR which is actually cheaper ticket for better experience. read more

What a dump this former gem has turned in to! This used to be the premier theater in the area when it first opened and it put everything else to shame! Fast forward a number of years and the auditoriums are trashed! The arm rest on almost every seat had been broken and a lot of seats were tattered. The seats are also very uncomfortable, but maybe that's just because I'm used to how other theaters do it now (either rockers or recliners). The A/V presentation is still pretty good, but the concessions were slow and well under staffed for a Saturday afternoon and as usual, the film didn't start until about 30 minutes past it's posted start time. Do yourself a favor and hit an MJR or Emagine. If you were thinking about going here, there are four other theaters nearby that will serve you better. What a shame. read more

What happened to this place?! They now have everyone snake through one long concession line. Took forever...on a Saturday AFTERNOON. Also, what is the point of having all of the extra concession stands on the sides if they are never open. If you look at them, it doesn't appear that they are closed just for that day, it looks like they haven't been used in months. The seats were filthy and all dilapidated! The good ole days of AMC are gone. I will never go back. I sat in Theater 14 and the Chairs were uncomfortable. I think sitting on a airline flight was more comfortable. The theater was packed and the AC could be a little colder. Only reason why i gave 2 stars was the imax screens looked really nice. But that was the only nice part.
