There is plenty of parking available and several handicap spots. This location has 16 auditoriums. Hot off the presses! They now have VIP seats for extra space and more privacy. The VIP seats are in a private enclosure (black wall partitions). This seating option has heated reclining seats, side tables on both sides perfect for a purse and concessions, coat hooks on both sides and storage space (perfect spot for your umbrella). I love the space, however, they need to wipe down the partitions between showings. Also, Tuesday is a bargain for $5 tickets plus FREE medium popcorn for all registered Premier & Premier Plus reward members. The Premier reward membership is FREE. From unidentifiable substances on the floor in the bathroom, people in the movie streaming video games from tablets and taking phone calls oblivious to people around them watching a film, to people recording themselves in theater corridors doing TikTok dances, you never know what you're going to see here. For an MJR, this location is disappointing. The bathrooms are old, filthy, and clearly not cleaned often. Counters stay dirty, sinks barely function, and there's almost never soap. I avoid using them whenever possible, which shouldn't be the case at a theatre. The self‑serve area is also regularly a mess, and it's obvious the staff isn't keeping up with basic cleaning. I only come here because it's close to my house, but the overall lack of upkeep makes the experience feel so trashy. read more

First time ever coming here but decided to give it a try. Stopped here with my son to see a movie. "Karate Kid" when we arrived the parking lot was very empty. We walked in and no one was at ticket desk to help. So we went to ticket self serve kiosks. But couldn't find karate kid for 5:30 pm show which was shown online. We ask for a manager at the popcorn register and he informed us that although it's says karate kid was to show at 5:30pm online it would not be showing at that time anymore. He informed us that the 5:30pm show was canceled and we could wait til 6:45 pm and that would be the next karate kid showing. It was 5:15 at the time. Will never return here another con is the place needs a cleaning as well. read more

The theater itself is decent once you make it in. Recliner seats are nice. Popcorn was good and you get one free refill. The downside - everything before the movie. There was only one person at the ticket counter on a busy Saturday. The concession line is extremely slow moving. The staff are polite and friendly and seem to do what they can, but they seem very understaffed. The bathroom was disgusting. read more

This theater does well for the location and demographic it's in. MJRs popcorn needs to be updated however (every chain beats your popcorn).

I love the recliner seats. We come on Tuesdays often for the five dollar special. We get free popcorn because we are members. But you can often see smoke in the air from burnt popcorn. The central air is not on here and I don't like that. The air keeps it clean. They need surround sound! It sounds like we are watching movies at someone's house. The food is pretty good. The bathrooms are clean but its a hit or miss with stocked tissue. read more

Just go to Emagine. We chose this theater only because it was near somewhere else we had to be that day and they have recliners. The theater was small and all at one level, looking up at the screen. Don't waste your time at this movie theater. Managers are super rude and not understanding. The policy's they have in place are ridiculous for minors past 6:30pm. I spent 80$ on tickets just to get there and have them tell me I can't take my 16 YEAR OLD sister with me even tho I am 21 and my bf is 22. We are adults and cannot take a 16 year old in a movie theater? But we can buy alcohol. Make that make sense?? It doesn't. P.S. I was a mjr supervisor at one point working at this location. I'm a damn liar. I said I would never patronize this theater after they had the nerve to buy and renovate the late, great, struggling second run Cinemark. It was a dump but it was MY dump. I saw so many movies for so cheap there. Plus, that damn MJR song is like nails on a chalkboard to me. But this isn't a half bad theater and I like the location. I haven't seen anywhere near the amount of movies here that I did at Cinemark but I've found my ass in the oh so comfortable reclining seats several times. Wonder Woman 84, Thor: Love and Thunder, Jackass Forever and that latest garbage Ant-Man movie spring to mind. The crowd is usually sparse, not as thin as the old ghost town Cinemark but sparse nonetheless. They have a Coke Freestyle machine where I can get lime ginger ale and they have an extra butter dispenser for popcorn where I can decide how blown out I want my cholesterol and blood pressure to be. It's not the cleanest theater but anything is a step up from Cinemark in that department. Not that they have Cinemark prices though so it should be cleaner. Auditoriums aren't the biggest but I don't mind. Plenty of elbow room around here. I think they remixed the MJR song or at least turned the volume down. Maybe I'm getting old and complacent but it doesn't seem as obnoxious as it used to. Not that you'll ever catch me clapping. Nobody has clapped the last couple times so props to my fellow theater goers on that. They might have remodeled and upgraded to first run but I feel like they haven't totally exorcised the depressiveness of the old Cinemark. This probably isn't the best theater to take a date to but it's a great place to sneak in a film without running into anyone you know. They're probably over at the Emagine in Royal Oak. So that's my review and look, I only mentioned Cinemark 7 times. read more

Okay spot... it's always dirty on the counters and floors and the crowd isn't the most respectful, which isn't due to the venue, but.... The screens are always on full blast so if you are hard of hearing this is the spot! I normally have to leave my seat and ask them if they can set it to the correct setting - which they always do. This makes the movie way more enjoyable. The staff seems novice at best, which is to be expected. 5 dollar movies on Tuesday with the membership. Never again. Self-serve ticket machine didn't print out any tickets after taking my credit card. Fine, no big deal. Had to get in line to get my tickets. Next up, no one is even taking tickets -- I could have walked in without paying. Shocking, but a bunch of unruly kids took advantage of this management oversight. 10 of them were running wild in the theater, texting, laughing, yelling, running around. We left after 5 minutes, asked for my money back. I notice a security guard leaning against a wall, not doing $h!t. Girl at the counter polite enough, calls for a manager, says those kids aren't supposed to be in the theater. Another security guard goes and kicks them out, but I mean, too late, obviously. Had to wait 5 minutes for a manager to come. No apology. No "we hope you come back." I got my money back, but I'll never go back to that theater. read more

This theatre is so nasty and unsanitary. From the moment I walked in my shoes we're making noise due to how sticky the floor was. Pop and butter was everywhere at the drink station. The bathroom also stinks. It's obviously understaffed since no one was at the register or checking tickets. read more

MJR was the perfect experience during the holiday. We were able to easily reserve seats and the theater has super comfy reclining seats to lay back and watch movies in. The night before Thanksgiving was quiet and we were immediately able to get snacks and head to our movie. The staff was friendly and easily accessible. Our movie tickets were $7 each! read more

A few years ago we used to frequent this theater. It was clean and the people were respectful. I don't know what the heck happened to this place, but WOOF. Upon walking in there are zero movie posters on the walls. lame. The place is trashed. There was popcorn all over the floor, counters a mess and half the soda machines out of order. Rude employees who were too busy arguing with each other and selling cold popcorn that has clearly been sitting there for a while. Our theater was small, and the seating was crap. Not stadium style seating and had to put down unoccupied seats in front of us to be able to see the whole screen (we were in the last row). During the movie, I swear someone got up every 10 minutes and when the door opened, the bright hallway lights shined in. It was clear there were a lot of people coming in who didn't even buy a ticket and just taking seats already purchased by someone. When we walked in there were people in our seats and when they got up they actually just left the theater. We got there about 20 minutes before movie time. The crowd here? YIKES. So disrespectful. People were texting throughout the movie, not even courteous enough to turn the brightness down, if they were going to do it anyway. Not to mention the person taking Snapchat videos throughout the movie. Some guy kept getting up and moving to a different seat. People were just walking into the movie up to 30 minutes AFTER the actual movie started. Two girls walked in this far into the movie, couldn't find their seats and then proceeded to just stand. They were texting while Standing there and being really distracting. Some guy got up to use the bathroom and one of the girls tried to take his seat. When they finally got it together and went to leave, I was already so annoyed I said "should've bought a ticket." Then they snapped back loud enough to distract the whole theatre. My friend then said something and then they threatened to kick her bitch ass. CLASSY. They finally left and then an employee came in to try to find their seats, only to figure out they were in the wrong theater the whole time. S-M-R-T. As I previously mentioned, the seats were crap. There was a seat a couple rows in front of us that we could see because it was the row in front of the handicap row. Every time that poor human moved the chair it would sound like it's about to fall apart, and kept leaning even further. We've been to other theaters recently, and they were 100x better than what this poor excuse for a theatre has turned out to be. Don't waste your time. Seriously. read more

My boyfriend and I had the WORST experience we have ever had here at a movie theatre. There was a group of people in front of us, to the right of us AND behind us ALL screaming, yelling, making unnecessary noises, standing up and walking around to the other people. It seemed they were all one big group and were just spread out all over the theatre. Two of the people who were in front of us were on there phones the ENTIRE time, and to top it all off they had a parent with them!! I like to go here on Tuesdays. It is five dollars all day and you get free popcorn. I enjoy seeing the new Marvel movies. When they come to the big screen. Every time I go here. We decided to stop by for a late matinee show. It's been quite a while since I've been to this particular theater. At that time of day, you have to purchase your tickets at the concession stand. The service was good, however the popcorn so they said it was fresh seemed as though it had been sitting for a while. Also they did not have glasses available for the 3D movie we were viewing. We had to wait for them to call someone. Then we had to wait for that person to go get the glasses and bring them to the concession area. Being someone who enjoys the previews, we sadly missed all but one. The inside of the actual theater where you view the movie was clean. However, the entryways to get there were littered with popcorn and popcorn tubs. The beverage and popcorn station also needed to be cleaned. There was a water bottle partially filled with soda pop left there. If this was during the weekend or another high traffic time it might have been understandable. However, there was barely anyone there. The recliners in the viewing room were comfortable, but they seemed a bit smaller than some of the other theaters I have visited more recently. Just FYI they do have a bar, but if you're a day drinker it didn't appear to be open. read more

First of all when we arrived the movie was just starting and the staff left the doors completely open, one of the guests had to get up and shut the doors. Then halfway through the movie we could hear people in the hall and once the movie started across The hall, we could hear the music and sound effects from the movie across the hall it was CRAZY loud. Love the new theater!! The matinee is only $6 before noon. You can't beat that. I took my family to go see Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle and because we love MJR, we had to try this new theater. We used to come here for the dollar shows before Mjr purchased the space. The updates look great! We love the concession stand and the condiments for the popcorn and nachos. You can grab as many jalapeños as you want! The highlight of our visit was the experience. The theaters are just the right size. The oversized recliner chairs were everything. The audio was configured perfectly to ensure an theatrical experience. I will definitely be back. I love most, the fact that there wasn't many people there. It wasn't crowded at all. I've been coming to this MJR for a while now and I like it but I will say it is a smaller theater than most of the other MJR's. Usually this one is not packed on a weekday as the other ones would be. I like this one better than a few of the other locations because of being a smaller location and it has a lot of shopping nearby so afterwords I can hit up the local Target and even Kroger. The staff here are very friendly and seem to like their jobs. The food court is always fast and clean. I always love coming during the day when the tickets are cheaper and there are less people seeing movies. I highly recommend this place to a lot of my friends because there are a lot of restaurants outside of the theater for great food and a lot of shopping if you need to do it all in one day. read more

So this review is from the perspective of someone who lives in a town that does not have assigned reclining seating. This is awesome and wonderful. I watched a 2 hour movie and when I was done my butt did not hurt at all. Additionally, the concession stand here is the first i've seen that has a Coke Freestyle machine. This is really awesome. Strawberry Coke? Why not?! Finally, unlike some theaters this theater happily allows you access to the butter dispenser. The Regal Theater I go to doesn't even give me access to SALT anymore, so the ability to add my own butter felt like cheating! I'm an extraordinary fan of the niceties at the MJR theaters. We were very uncomfortable with the lady with a clip board sent in to stand watch over us as if we were going to steal the movie or something. The lady came in only as far as we were sitting she never went further into the theater to watch or even see the other patrons. She clearly was just watching us it really felt racial seeming as we walked in and sat down the same way the other (white) patrons did. We were the only 2 groups in that theater. She literally stood 3 feet behind us the entire movie. I'll find me another movie theater to patronize next time. I gave it 2 stars only because of the seats. read more

I have always gone to MJR sterling heights location which is a few miles from me so I was beyond excited when they converted universal to MJR which is now down the street !!!yay!!! Bathrooms are clean, bar and nice comfy "leather" reclining seats that's accommodating to everyone of any size and the staff has always been courteous and and that's nice to see smiling faces where you spend your money..ijs...I usually go to the last show especially since normally I'm the only person so I basically have the whole theater to myself So if you live east, come visit you'll have a nice movie going experience read more

My husband & 3 daughters love the seats, & being able to purchase tickets prior to getting there is alright. But choosing seats before going in is the WORST idea EVER! It should be 1st come 1st serve seating. I can not tell you how many times we've chosen seats that were too close, too far, too left, too right whatever OR we didn't choose until getting to the theater & we can't all sit together even though there's literally 5 ppl in the theatre, but the seat owners haven't shown up yet. There has to be others besides us that absolutley hates the seat-reserve thing. I'm done using theatres that have it.
