Great movie theater, clean and the kids had a blast. Not a bad experience at all even being in the front was a great view!

the A/C in this AMC has been out for over a week. A friend and I went to see Deadpool on 8/2/24. When we arrived the lady scanning tickets informed us that theaters 1-4 did not have functional A/C, which unfortunately impacted our showtime. We opted to stay because she told us the A/C went out within the last few minutes and figured it would take a while to heat up. We only ended being hot the last 20 mins of the movie, so not a huge deal. The problem is is that a whole week later the A/C in those theaters was still out. We attempted to call prior to the movie to see if this was still the case, but no one answered the number associated with this AMC. We decided to risk it. When we tried to see Cuckoo, on 8/9/24... they still had signs up saying the AC was out. The employee at the front desk told us management told him to lie to people and to say the new system was installed and that it was going to take a few weeks for it to adjust to the building size... and that's why it was still so hot in the building. We were also not allowed a refund this time, despite conditions having not improved. If you try to get snacks or drinks in the lobby currently, you will be sweating. The inside of the theater is gross, your shoes will be sticky for a few hours after leaving. I don't blame the employees for not cleaning though, I wouldn't either if my boss forced me to work in a building with no AC in a place where it averages 116 degrees during the summer. I'm not mad about the AC being out, I'm mad that management is encouraging employees to lie to customers and then refusing to refund tickets impacted by the outage, which indicates to me that this business doesn't care for their customer base. I won't be giving them anymore money and would rather inconvenience myself by going to another theater who values my business. read more

AMC is an awesome experience! The concessions have so much to offer; pizza, popcorn, pretzels, tacos, chicken fingers, French fries, sliders etc. As well as refreshments and candy products. They offer adult beverages as well that you can take into the movie. That was a fun twist that harkins doesn't offer. The bathrooms were clean, the theatre was up kept and the staff was friendly. My only complaint is the previews. We clocked 22 minutes of previews before the movie started and we felt that was a bit excessive. Other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves. O and the chairs recline!!! Major brownie points! read more

Paid for IMAX. That was NOT a true IMAX theater. Seats were so uncomfy. Won't go there a 2nd time. Nothing good to say about this theater.

Wow, this theatre is so dirty and needs to be cleaned. We got three seats and two of the recliners were broken. This theatre needs a major overhaul and cleaning crew. read more

I apologize in advance for the lengthy review but I assure you, you should read the entirety of it. I'm going to start by saying I've never wrote a bad review before but this experience really just set me off. For spending $100 between two movie tickets, popcorn, a pizza and a single drink my boyfriend and I had a HORRIBLE experience. To start, they told us it would be over 30 minutes for them to have a pepperoni pizza ready. My boyfriend and I both had chose to wear a hoodie and sweatpants because usually the theaters are freezing. Oh boy were we wrong.. we were seeing Deadpool and Wolverine at 11:45 pm so they had us in the "Dolby IMAX" theater (you pay more for IMAX) which had NO recliners, there was NO ac, and the volume was WAYYYY too loud it was blistering. My boyfriend and I were considering leaving because of how uncomfortable we were but we had just spent over $100 so we stuck it through. For how expensive it is, I would've expected a way better experience. Oh and to top it all off, my boyfriend's wallet fell out of his pocket under the seat. I called this morning to ask if they had found a wallet to which they said there was no wallet found and asked what theater and seats we were sitting in. He took my info down and said they would check for it as soon as they could. They actually ended up calling me back maybe 20-30 minutes later saying they had found the wallet. My boyfriend went to go pick up his wallet and the actual employee who found the wallet told my boyfriend he found it under the seat and when my boyfriend checked his wallet he was missing $200 cash. We were the last showing at 11:45 pm so we didn't leave that theater till 2 am. I always double scan the area before leaving so I know his wallet was not in plain sight for someone to grab. I called at 9 am and there wasn't another showing in that IMAX theater until 11 am so definitely nobody else touched that wallet except for that employee who had found it. So obviously my boyfriend asked the kid and got nothing from him. He spoke with the district manager and she basically told him there was nothing she could do because there is no cameras as well as they have janitors that clean the theaters at the end of the night. But again the employee had to look for the wallet in order for it to even be found. He was the last to touch the wallet. I don't think the janitor took the money and strategically placed it back under the seat. Just take all the money and toss it at that point. But the employee who found the wallet definitely had to look through it to make sure all the info I gave him was correct. Plenty of time for him to see there was cash and to take it. The manager did take down my boyfriend's information to pass along to the GM and also gave my boyfriend the GMs email. But that is all and now my boyfriend is out $200 after just dropping $100, so actually my boyfriend is out $300 just because we wanted to have a nice little movie date. So thank you AMC Deer Valley. Save yourself by choosing another theater. read more

Disgusting. The lobby, the bathrooms, the theater seats and floors. It looks like nobody's bothered to clean anything for days. Popcorn and debris strewn over every square foot of floor, every garbage can is overflowing, bathroom smells like urine, no soap in half the dispensers.. I consider myself pretty easy to please and understanding but just frickin gross.. I don't care what your staff problems are it's unacceptable. Will never come back here. read more

There was no one in the lobby and the girl that scammed our tickets didn't give us our 3-D tickets sold after spending $75 and very little food and spending $50+ on the ticket We sat down (I said oh I bet they put the glasses on her seats for us!) nope. Got imax for a three hour movie. You have to pay so much more but did not make sense because the screen was so small. The seats were uncomfortable and my legs got cramps from being forced to sit in one position for so long. Defiantly going to Harkin's next time. read more

We ordered tickets for Fast9 online and it showed that on each side there would be an empty seat. I paid $38 to go to the IMAX theater. When we got there it was not an IMAX it was smaller than a regular size screen. Furthermore there were people sitting directly next to us as well. The absolute worst theater I've been to in years. The seats are the original seats the floors are disgustingly sticky as if no one clean during the last year's pandemic. To call that theater an IMAX is absolutely pathetic. read more

Most disgusting theater I have ever been to. First of all, every part of it was filthy. Lobby, concession, restrooms, and theater. Restroom fixtures did not work, toilet would not flush and soap dispenser did not dispense. Stand in line to purchase popcorn and another line to get popcorn and another to butter it yourself. I went in for a 10 pm showing. The icee machines weren't working, and I didn't find this out until after I purchased an ICEE. When I told the employees they asked if we were sure... the icee machine lights were literally blinking red. No one seemed to know what to do. They said I could just get a soda... the floor was dirty. They said they were out of jalapeños when I saw them filling the jalapeño cups. It was just a weird night and the worst experience I have had at an AMC. read more

This is one of my favorite theaters. Located in a not so crowded area, AMC Deer Valley has very comfortable reclining chairs for each theater, and they also have a bar if you want to enjoy some alcoholic beverages during your movie. It's situated next to a couple of restaurants so you can have a meal before or after the movies! read more

I really enjoy your new facility amazing seats, beautiful theatre. Went to imax screening of tenent last night. I enjoy a good action flick with some mega bass as much as the next guy. But last night was painful......my ears are blown out and still ringing. You guys must have had a disgruntled employee rage quit, throw his delicious buttery apron at the manager and then turn the volume to level 843 Dude then strolls out like he was walking away from an explosion. It wasn't a fiery mangled helicopter it's was the ears of the 8 people in there. If you love to drink Keystone light with your face pressed in meat diamonds through the chain link fence at Nascar with your glorious mullet blowing in the race gas exhaust this theatre is for you! read more

I think this may show up as AMC Deer Valley 30 on some apps but regardless it appears to be the same place. This review will be short since I didn't really get what I came for. I ordered my ticket on a move app and just walked in with my ticket exposed on my phone and there wasn't any wait. I'm glad I ate before I came because the line for concessions was majorly long. I will say that at least the line was organized and not just a free-for-all where there is no order to get up to the counter. Like I said, I had already at because we all know how pricey movie concessions can be. I thought the theatre would be busy on a Sunday but it actually was quite tame. One other thing I'll note is that when I pulled up the movie I wanted to see on the movie app I was using, this theatre had the cheapest price for tickets so if you you're buying tickets through an app or online, look around because I only paid around $9 for standard non-imax tickets as compared to other theatres that were charging like $14 and that's just for standard tickets! Anyway, the theatre room I was in was large and clean and the reclining chairs were in good shape. I went to the movies around 2pm just FYI. The time came for the movie to come on. The lights dimmed and no image or sound appeared. 25 mins later a few of the theatre reps appeared at the bottom row of seats and yelled out that there was technical difficulties and they were working on the issue. About 20 minutes later that came back and apologized and asked everyone to go to guest services for refunds or vouchers to another showing. It's funny because the movie I was going to see "Dark Phoenix" had bad reviews and I was really debating going to see it in the 1st place. It was almost like a sign for the gods that maybe Dark Phoenix just needs to be a Redbox rental for me. Haha! Overall, even though I wasn't able to see he movie I did appreciate the status updates from the staff and the prompt decision to offer compensation for the technical error. At least I got to soak up the air conditioning and stay out of the 106 degree weather. read more

Full disclosure; I have a meh attitude toward the AMC franchise of stores and this one is no exception. The one thing I absolutely love about AMC is the 5 dollar price for movies before noon. AMC popcorn is pretty terrible but they do have the Coke machines with a TON of drink options The theater itself is large and nicely located. It can get really busy during the weekend and crowded. I go here more often than not due to proximity. read more

I'm sure ya'll know this by now but they now have pre-assigned seating. Our next movie we saw since our last visit with Doctor Strange was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and it was in full effect. Cannot stress enough to pre-order tickets online so you can have the best seats possible. I am not a fan of pre-assigned seating (hate, hate, hate!) but I gotta roll with the changes. This location also closed down half of their building, effectively removing 13 screens. It is now called AMC Deer Valley 17 and that's what will show when you search online for this location. I have submitted the change a couple of weeks ago to Yelp to review and update but see that it has not been changed as of this time. read more

Paid $8.99 for a bowl of cheesburger man and cheese to have it be less than 1/4 of the bowl full. This is pathetic!

The remodel is really nice very upscale. Looking forward to seeing Wonder Woman in the new reclining theater seats. Well Done! read more

Easy to see why movie theaters are on their way out. This place sucks. Every time I come the bathrooms on my side of the theater are closed. The ones that are open are disgusting with piss all over the floor, out of hand towels, and scalding hot water to wash your hands. The "convenience charge" to get tickets online, which you have to do if you want to sit with your family is obnoxious. I'm so sick of the AMC experience and understand pirate culture at this point. I'll probably learn to just download the next movie and watch it at home where I can use the bathroom without feeling like I need to take a shower after and don't have to take a 10-minute round trip all while getting my a$$ handed to me at the concession stand. Very impressed with the renovation at this theater. I don't live that close to this location, but it had a movie/time that worked out for our group. The seats are uber comfortable, and the sound system is great. I was a little challenged that there was such a long wait for concessions, especially since it was a Tuesday evening and the entire theater was empty. 3 people in line, 2 employees working behind the huge stand, and I waited 15 mins to get popcorn that wasn't close to fresh. I'm sure this was an isolated incident, as AMC normally is on top of their game. read more

My family and I went to see the highly anticipated "The Little Mermaid" movie. The movie had promises of being bright and vibrant. However, here at AMC 17 it was everything BUT. The movie would've been wonderful if we could see. I felt like I was watching a bootleg version before the opening night. We are stubs members and paid over $12 a ticket. This was a horrible experience. How is the footage quality this poor for a huge blockbuster? We felt very cheated because the whole perk of paying the extra cash was to see the movie before it's official release. Honestly, I won't be recommending this theater for anyone. read more

Sadly going to this theater has been agonizing lately. I got the A-Lister membership and I am here a lot, but I am considering attending the Desert Ridge location instead. The staff does not clean the place. The IMAX looks like it was built in the late '80s, the seats are stained and many are falling apart. Walking in when it was the AMC 30 was epic, the outside was amazing looking. Now it's all trashed out like no one has been taking care of it in years. It's sad all around. I hope they bring this place back to its former glory, it was better even during the pandemic than it is right now. read more

Sad to see how this theater has gone downhill. This location used to be my favorite AMC in the valley. Last week when I went to a movie showing, the lobby was trashed with food everywhere on the floor and displays knocked over. None of the bathrooms on one of the main hallways were open. The people sitting beside us in the theater were talking full volume, had their phones on and using them, and vaping throughout the movie. Hope this location can improve. read more

My movie experience was less than enjoyable. First off, the movie began with audio no video, someone had to go tell them to start the movie over. Then about the last 10 minutes of the movie the house lights came on. Finally, at the end of the movie it said wait for the credits to end to enjoy interviews from the cast, well we didn't get to see the interviews in there entirety because the movie stopped. read more

Gross. Just friggen gross. Why two stars? Because the movie played all the way through with no issues and the guys at the concession counter seemed personable. The other star is because you HAVE to leave one to do a review. Buckle in, because this is going to be a long one. AMC management, I hope you are listening. If you were an employee of mine, you'd be put on notice; you can do better than this. 1) The seat reclined well... and could have been comfortable. If the left side wasn't sticky. I mean, not like someone recently spilled a soda sticky but... like someone spilled a soda a week ago and used napkins but it hadn't been actually cleaned in a LONG while before or after... that kind of sticky. 2) Drink area was filthy. Definitely don't look around when filling your drink. The counters were recently wiped but not with a CLEAN rag. Looked like an attempt was made to clean it at some point but hadn't rinsed the rag in awhile. So, dried sticky smears of soda were all over the machines and counters. Oh, and never mind the filth at your feet. I could see that even the tile had random spills everywhere; they looked like they'd just dried where they were spilled. So, sticky footprints and dried soda everywhere. 3) The floors were disgusting. Really, how long has it been since you've cleaned them? This used to be THE theater to go to for premiers, special engagements, midnight releases and 3D IMAX movies. Aside from how expensive the tickets are, this reminded me of those cheap $1 movies that used to be around in the '90s. Wait, never mind. Those floors and facilities were cleaner. Scratch that. 4) So I walk into the women's restroom and immediately get punched in the face with the pungent smell of old urine. I think "ok, I can just get thru this" and open the stall door. Nope: Urine all over the seat. Unlucky choice so I open another stall. Nope, that one has blood in the bowl and on the seat. Third one, I just grab some hand towels by the overflowing garbage can and wipe it down gingerly. Aside from the seat about to come off I take my chances for some relief. I finish, wash my hands and walk out. There's a hand sanitizer dispenser by the door and I thought "cool! It's the small things!" Nope. Empty. Just to see if I encountered this bathroom at a "bad time" I walked to the other one located near the theater entrance. I got about 2 feet from the door to the restroom and started smelling piss. No thanks - I'd had enough. So... I'm not going to just complain here and not let someone know at the theater. I hope the manager gets some good sleep tonight; tomorrow I'm going to go back down there and offer some constructive feedback, some managerial mentoring and maybe even demonstrate how to fix a loose toilet seat. read more

Will never again patronize AMC. Never. I have mobility issues, do not move real fast and need a cane to get around. Went today to see a film. There was nobody at the "Customer Service" counter. Had to go about thirty feet to ask how I pay for a ticket with cash. Was sent back when what looked like a janitor wandered by. Bought ticket and snakrd through the maze to the concession stand. Got popcorn and beverage so am then about $30 out of pocket. Had to ask if they didn't have something to carry things. Pointed down t h e counter to a box of collapsed boxes. Mind you I am using a cane, so one hand is busy with that. Trying to balance the box I have to ask whete to fill up my cup. Was pointed back toward the front of the facility. Hobbled over but found nowhere to balance the popcorn but ultimately found a microscopic space so I got my drink. Look around and around for the butter, salt and napkins. Was pointed to the far side of concession stand. Got there. All salt shakers were empty. Had to ask for salt. Waited and got it after I buttered tge popcorn which was filled to about two inches below the top. Finally was going to the cinema which was, again back toward the front and then down a very long hallway to where I had to make a sharp right turn. There were multiple cinemas, not one of which is labeled by the name of the film. None was labeled. So here comes the janitor again pushing a mop and bucket. I ask him which cinema was the one for my film. He asks to see my ticket. I do not have a spare hand to scrounge for my ticket. He did lift the drink to see if it was under that. Asked if it might be in my bag. At that piint I completely lost the last of my patience. I conceded the $30, through everything down and commenced to trek back down the long hallway. That young man/janitor deserved better than to have to deal with my ire because of his employer's antagonism toward all their customers, especially those needing accomodations specifically detailed in ADA. The ticket specifying which cinema was about the size of two postage stamps. The microscopic sized ticket had been lost somewhere in my marathon. read more

This will be my last visit to AMC. The entire theater was in disarray. Saw 2 employees. One at the ticket counter and 1 at the snack bar. Got there just before showtime and the theater was disgusting. Our seats were covered in butter, popcorn and trash. Trash on the floors. Had to leave the theater and hunt down an employee and addressed the issue with the manager. Manager moved us to the "clean" seats. Employee finally comes in without any cleaning utensils and starts cleaning around customers picking up trash with his bare hands. I had to wipe down my seat with hand sanitizer and paper towels from the bathroom. After the movie started had to close the theater door myself because no employees closed it and you could hear people outside laughing and carrying on. Noticed a couple of theaters with the doors still left open during the movie. No employees ever came into the theater during the movie for their "headcounts". Saw no employees cleaning anywhere. The bathrooms smelled like a year worth of urine had festered. The soap dispensers were completely empty. Somebody had put a refill bottle on the counter but never installed it. Popcorn littering throughout the whole place. Saw plenty of brooms and dust pans tucked away in corners but nobody to do a tad bit of sweeping. Yeah they remodeled a short time ago. So what. Would be nice if they actually had people doing their jobs and staying on top of the place. Then the place might be decent. read more

How hard would it be to make decent popcorn? Stale, with unchewable half popped hulls in every bite. A company as large as AMC shouldn't have any trouble making a decent bag of popcorn. Especially if it's a nine dollar bag of popcorn. My wife said the ladies bathroom only had one full soap dispenser and was just generally dirty and disgusting. Instead of adding a bar and kitchen and offering a food menu, why don't you just get the popcorn right? This was the AMC 30. Now it's called the AMC 17. Soon to be the AMC 0. read more

Went with several people to see the Secret life of Pets!! Very cute movie but the theater was a Mess!! Lots of staff wandering around aimlessly while stations were a Mess!! Watched one employee make a feeble attempt to sweep popcorn but his lack luster efforts only spread it around! I'm not loving the serve yourself goodie area either. You grab your goodies and stand in a long line with only 2 registers open (there are 6 registers)!!! What is the point of that??? Everyone around me was commenting on the stupidity of that thought process!! See the sad photos that show a theater that needs to rethink the way they are doing business?? Charging for popcorn toppings, nothing extra here...just a dirty theater. Harkins here I come. read more

My husband and I have been here several times and we've even brought my sister-in-law a few times. The location isn't the easiest to get in or out of. We always have to drive through the entire parking lot (past Target and Ross and plenty of pedestrians) and then finally have to park by Claim Jumper. It isn't too terrible if we are going to eat at Claim Jumper after the show, but that isn't always the case. I wish it was easier to just drive to the theater and park, instead of having to navigate a large parking lot for several other businesses. The actual theater is standard compared to other AMC theaters. However, it seems older and maybe a little dirtier as well. (They always have sticky floors!) This AMC has an IMAX, which was a nice experience, and the other screens seem pretty big as well. Overall, I'd rather go to Desert Ridge, since it seems newer and cleaner. read more

This is one of 3 AMC theatres that shows IMAX 3D and it's pretty cool. The sound at the IMAX movies are always so LOUD! When I made that comment to one of the guys that work there, he told me that the sound is directly linked to IMAX corporate and by contract, they have to keep the volume at a certain level so I advise you to bring ear plugs which is what I am going to do next time! We saw the latest Superman here and I have to say the IMAX screen combined with the 3D was a pretty cool experience. There are certain movies that are worth the IMAX and 3D combo and Superman was one of those movies. The location is convenient off of the 101, there are lots of healthy "fast food" joints around the theatre for a bite to eat before the movie if you are inclined. Staff is friendly, comfortable seats. read more

First time since recliners and reserved seating. Had atom ticket deals. Saw movies that had been out a while to avoid crowds. Was great. Can't order food to be delivered like the amc dinner place. Much cleaner than old amc theaters always were. They've started picking up that Harkins was beating them in keeping the place very clean. Employees are a lot different now. They actually seemed friendly, the kids. There was a rotund man at the csr counter who was kind of grumpy though. read more
