He loves his teachers and we love them for everything that they are doing. He has Spanish 4x a week, Gym 3x a week, Computers/Tech, Library, and Art. It's a STEM school that truly teaches critical thinking at every level. They also teach to the level of each child....something that most public schools cannot do. We are always greeted with a smile and staff in the school knows our child's name. They have morning care and aftercare available on the premise if you need it.

It offers daycare, preschool and grades kindergarten to eighth. There are about 100 children in K-8. One classroom per grade! It feels like a family. The teachers are kind and caring. No child feels overlooked or left out. The tuition is VERY reasonable and scholarships are available. Besides core classes the students take Spanish, Bible, computers, gym, art and music. Each day begins with prayer. Every Friday the students attend chapel. New construction and expansion is planned this year (2016) as the church adds infant care to its day care services. This will also being improvements to the school such as the addition of a band room as well as locker rooms off the gym. Recently the school's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Brenda Heintz, was featured on a Grand Rapids TV news broadcast. She won the WGVU Cool Teacher Award. I asked him if he would like to change day care places, but the convenience to his school makes this problematic. (He isn't willing to take a bus elsewhere) If Oakland Academy wasn't his favorite school, we would change day care locations. During the summers, we attend Curious Kids, as our faith in CDC is almost nonexistent.

They really DO care about what is happening in their school. I love that an officer walks through each and every school and my kids know him by name. I'm happy we chose this district... and Big Red, well, it speaks volumes all its own!!!!
