Horrible costumers service, the women working front desk was so rude and so unprofessional! If I could give zero stars I would.

Nice place and friendly staff, however my lash lift is subpar for the price. One eye looks great the other got no lift. Pretty disappointed.

I have my wedding coming up in October and was told to find a good spray tan. I decided my bridal shower would be a great time to test it, since I would be wearing white. From start to finish my experience at Shade was fabulous. Their website has all the information you need to know. Once I got there, I was made to feel completely comfortable (a challenge considering the circumstances!). The process was quick and you could tell Melissa takes pride in her work. I loved the attention to detail given to my tan. I would hate if you could tell I had a spray tan, and Melissa's attention to detail throughout the entire tanning process made it so my skin still has a perfect, even glow 7 days later. I was given clear instructions (and a written copy) on how to care for my tan. I loved the shade I looked at my shower - not ghostly, but also not like I had just gotten a spray tan. Go get your tan on here - you will not be disappointed!!!

However when she was done you could see my tracs AND my braids underneath from the top (this was after she supposedly installed 3 bundles?!!) PLUS she left a whole row of my own braided hair completely exposed on the side. The gaps between the stiches are so wide you can literally lift the tracs away from my scalp. I didnt see all this till I got home but i know she did! I can't believe anyone would let their clients walk out the salon the way she did. YET HERE WE ARE. she does not respond to her email posted on her site nor to any of the text I've sent asking she fix the issues. In addition i ordered hair from her to be delivered to my home. It was never shipped. Only after asking for my money back did it miraculously up at her salon just on time for my appointment?!! She always stayed in control of the hair and i never saw the actual bundles that i paid over $300 for. I dont doubt she only installed part of what i was supposed to get. The services here are horrible and the hair she sells is a scam. Update: she FINALLY contacted me only AFTER seeing my negative reviews. Evidently im trippin and should have been ok with everything she did. No one woud have seen anything - unless there was wind or i spun my head around too fast right? anyways the pictures speak for themselves. Would you pay $300 to have your hair look like this ?

I've debated writing this review since my last visit because I always want to support Black…read morebusinesses in the area, but ultimately, I don't think their team is providing services up to par with the clientele that they seek to cater to (professional African-American women). For context, I have collarbone length virgin type 4 hair (a/b/c), get regular trims, and wear a rotation of braids, natural styles, and presses throughout the year. And I've been going to Black hair salons my whole life. On my first visit, I received a good wash and deep condition, was offered water, and engaged in an informative conversation about my hair and what to know before trying new styles/treatments (sew-ins, keratin treatments, etc.). I was also given a good trim. It was strange to me that when I asked for a better blow dry, I was informed that it would be under a different service (blow out) than what I had booked, which was a wash and blow dry (nevermind the fact that I hadn't booked a deep condition but was still allowed to receive the service). I still believe that this would not have been an issue if I had a looser, or more "manageable" hair texture because then it would have responded differently to the blow dryer. I booked a second visit to try their braiding services and got medium fulani braids (cornrows in the front, knotless in the back). This was where things got rocky. I don't understand the need to straighten hair on a low setting before doing a protective style. Again, I think this is a salon-wide incompetency regarding kinky-coily hair. As far as the braids, the sections in the back were closer to large than medium and didn't match those done at the front. The cornrows at the front were neat but the two braids on either side (coming to the front) were poorly done without enough of my hair added so were left loose and weak. I requested the braids to be shorter than lengths offered and clearly communicated this throughout the appointment. At the end, they were cut in a way that didn't match salon quality. And, the amount that I was charged didn't match the quality of the service nor the specifics of the hairstyle requested before and during the appointment (with reference pictures shown to braider). Lastly, I realized that I couldn't go back for braids but still liked my first experience for a good wash and condition, so I unfortunately went back. Taking the "advice" of the first stylist to book the "blow out" service instead of a normal blow dry, I was met with, yet again, another lackluster, disappointing, and frustrating experience. In blow drying my hair, I told the stylist that I wanted it blown out straight, showing reference pictures to past salon visits that I had received a simple blow dry (all from other Black salons in the city). Sure, I have type 4 hair but my hair also responds well to heat and it doesn't take a lot to get it pretty straight just from the blow dryer. The real kicker was when I asked the stylist for a trim and she proceeded to straighten just my ends on low heat. While her defense for her sorry work was that "this was how they taught her in cosmetology school," I honestly don't think anything can excuse such choppy work. The trim was lopsided and poorly executed, and the "blow dry" that she finished with was not at all what I asked for, reminded her of, and insisted upon throughout the visit. Longwinded but worth the read. I think if you just need a wash and condition and don't have the resources to do it yourself, they're a good option, but anything more, hold your coins close. Their services are too expensive to be so disappointing. From the other reviews I've seen and the services they promote on their socials, it seems like they do best with weaves and other extension services for women who don't wear their natural hair much. I'm not a fan.

First off, let me start by saying: this review was long overdue!…read more I had never had my lashes done prior to seeing Terra, and have become a dedicated client ever since! She's very knowledgeable about the lash process, and had great advice for choosing the right lashes to compliment my eye shape. Let me also mention, I am EXTREMELY picky-- if it's not 100% what I like, I'll hate it :) and she's PERFECT at customizing for my preference. I'm always very comfortable in the chair, and because the lash application process takes a bit of time, there's always great music to listen to, as well as entertaining conversation. As I travel frequently for my job, Terra is so flexible when it comes to scheduling and re-scheduling, especially around the holidays. I once had to reschedule my lash appt. for a much further time than my usual refill schedule, and I decided that because she's so good at what she does, and she knows what I like, she was worth the wait. I absolutely refuse to let anyone else touch my lashes because of Terra. If there is anyone that has been on the search for a lash specialist, or if you're thinking of jumping ship and looking for better, look no further. You will have perfect customized lashes that LAST! I posted a few pics from my most recent fill. Please be advised, these are how I like for MY lashes to look. I love how they curl, clump and space out over time-- which makes them look like they could actually be my natural lash. For my naturalistas: think of this look as a "Day 2-3 twist out", and you'll understand why I love it. ;) Lastly, Terra: if I could give you more stars, you know I would. Thank you always!!

The fact that you are comparing it to spa tell me you need to get out more. They give great manicures and pedicures. It is always very clean and the employees are hard working. Some of them can be a little harsh but get over it. English is not their first language and I would not want to be pulling dead skin from hands and feet as my job. I have seen more rude and inappropriate behavior from the customers than the employees. I would talk about you too in my native language. I have been known to give an eye roll or two at the behavior of others. Good manicure/pedicure. Quick service. Cheap prices. And if you like being entertained by crazy, demanding and old main line women with more make up on than a clown, this place is for you. :-)

Whether someone spends $1 or $100, every dollar adds up over time if you make your customers feel valued and satisfied. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience here. I wasn't expecting perfection, just the basics. During my pedicure, only one of my feet was properly scrubbed. I actually had to ask the technician to scrub the other foot, and even then, she only did half of it. I also noticed that lotion was barely applied. In my experience, moisturizing both feet is a standard part of a pedicure. What disappointed me the most was how my concerns were handled. When I spoke with the person I believed was in charge, instead of acknowledging my experience or offering a sincere apology, I was simply asked if I wanted the technician to put lotion on my feet again. At that point, why would I want someone who had already rushed through my service to continue touching me after I had just expressed my concerns? I wasn't looking for a refund or anything extra--I was simply hoping for someone to acknowledge that my experience mattered. Instead, I was told, "Just use someone else next time." That response spoke volumes. It made me feel like my business and my experience didn't matter at all. Customer service is about making people feel heard and valued, especially when something falls short. Sadly, that didn't happen here, and because of that, I won't be returning.:(
