For anyone considering this facility, please know that despite the name, it is a regular daycare disguised as a learning academy but in reality there is no learning going on just a regular unprofessional daycare The financial burden here is outrageous, especially given the poor quality of care. A recurring issue we faced was their illness policy and unfair billing. I would send my daughter to daycare on a Wednesday, she would catch something from another child, and by Thursday, they would call me to come pick her up because she was sick. She would then have to miss the following day. Despite not being allowed to leave my child there, they still charged me full price for her attendance. This happened on multiple occasions, to the point where I was paying for far more days than my daughter was actually able to attend. Even more concerning than the cost was the lack of supervision and safety. There was an incident where my child came home with claw marks all over her arms. When I brought this to the teacher's attention, nobody on staff was aware of her injuries, nor had anyone called to let us know something had happened. A week later, she came home with the exact same injuries to her arms. It wasn't until I made a major issue out of it that I was finally able to request to speak to the director, who promised an investigation. Having two separate instances where my child came home injured without a single phone call or incident report made is completely unacceptable. I was finally so fed up with the lack of communication, safety, and fairness that I unenrolled my kid. I would not recommend Vera Children's Academy to any parent looking for a safe and reliable environment for their child.

Doctors won't diagnose children this young but she has no problem labeling children and making them a problem. The teachers are not supported and blamed openly for everything by the administration. They're overwhelmed, scream at the kids and use excessive discipline. The daycare is owned by a private equity company so every year they offer the children less to increase profits. They cannot keep staff for the wages they pay and there's rampant bullying, hitting, bitting, serious bruising and the teachers just give up. Just avoid these types of daycares.

My six-year-old had some challenging days involving frustration, transitions, sharing, and asking for help. We did not ignore these concerns. We communicated with the school, worked with him at home, arranged outside support, and began pursuing a professional evaluation to better understand his needs. Although the school documented that he benefited from calm redirection and individual guidance, his enrollment was ended before the evaluation was completed. We were not given a gradual improvement plan or enough time to see whether additional structure and support would help him succeed. Afterward, a classroom-wide message was posted discussing challenging behaviors among several students. Because of the timing and surrounding circumstances, our family was left feeling as though our child had been singled out, even though he was not named. I understand that schools must protect classroom safety and that teachers cannot provide constant one-on-one attention. However, young children will have both good and difficult days. In my opinion, education should include helping children learn from those difficult moments--not only expecting them to arrive already knowing how to manage every emotion, transition, and social situation. Based on our experience, this may not be the best setting for a child who needs additional patience, structure, redirection, or time to grow socially and emotionally. I encourage parents of children who may need extra support to ask detailed questions about the school's behavior policies, improvement plans, communication procedures, and how much support is offered before a child's enrollment is ended. I am not sharing this out of anger. I simply believe other parents deserve to understand our experience when deciding whether this environment will meet their child's individual needs.

During a recent parent-teacher conference, I was surprised to learn about a consensus among teachers regarding my child. This feedback was unexpected, especially since several teachers had previously taught my child without raising this issue. If the behavior was newly observed, timely communication would have been helpful; if it had been ongoing, we missed the opportunity to work on it over the summer. Second, the demeanor of some faculty members is unwelcoming and unprofessional. I've noticed that certain teachers treat parents as if they are a burden when asking normal questions related to the parent-student-teacher relationship. For example, Amanda, the previous front desk admin, has been vocally discontent about her job and seems to carry that negativity into her interactions. Despite returning each year and being promoted, her attitude remains toxic, lacking respect and professionalism. Additionally, my student experienced a long-term substitute teacher who struggled to manage the classroom effectively. She often made poor judgment calls, such as taking away recess for unreasonable reasons and giving zeroes for incomplete work instead of offering partial credit. When I raised these concerns, Ms. Bickley dismissed them. Overall, it feels like the students were shortchanged in their educational development. The aftercare program is poorly managed. Students are not allowed to use their electronics, but aren't provided with reasonable alternatives to stay engaged. The weekly fee does not justify the limited offerings, which include only occasional snacks and minimal crafts. The kids receive one "educational worksheet," which feels more like a formality than a meaningful activity. If there were alternative options, I would not choose this aftercare program, and I certainly would not recommend their summer camp. While there are some dedicated staff members, overall, there seems to be a lack of accountability and a lack of support for students. The school needs better checks and balances in place to ensure that all educators act in the best interests of their students. The school needs a drastic change. I do not advise ANY military families to attend this school, as most students who transfer to other schools struggle with the transition. From our family's experience: - There is a greater focus on how much money the school can get vs. the quality of education that is being offered. - There was a 3rd grade teacher who was arrested for possession of d***s (the white powder) - The teachers seem to have a maturity issue. - The teachers and admins can be antagonistic - There is a LACK of accountability for teachers and admins - Administration has protocols in place that, in times of need, they FAIL to implement properly - Admins aren't able and/or aren't empowered to think outside of the box - They raise money, only to never invest in what they say they are using it for. - The educators use Ai to grade work and the online books to "teach"; these children are NOT learning! - The lunch offered is below standard. To pay $4.00 for an imbalanced meal is excessive. Not to mention the limited offering of vegetarian options. - Some of the people working throughout the school (custodial and "floaters") look sketchy, and since the teacher was caught with drugs...I am concerned others aren't.
