I am writing as a concerned parent of a child with special needs to share my experience with this childcare facility so that other families can make informed decisions. My child has developmental needs that require patience, understanding, and appropriate support. Prior to enrollment, I communicated these needs to the facility and was given the impression that they would be accommodated. However, my experience after enrollment was very different from what had been discussed. During our time at the center, I became increasingly concerned about how my child was perceived and treated. At one point, I was informed that the facility primarily serves what was described to me as "normal" children, and it was suggested that my child was not an appropriate fit for their program. Ultimately, my child was dismissed from the facility. I want to emphasize that, in my observation, my child did not pose a threat to staff, other children, or himself. His behaviors are related to communication challenges, and he is able to respond positively to redirection when handled with care and consistency. I found the overall interaction with management to be unprofessional and, at times, dismissive of my child's needs. As a parent, this experience was both discouraging and deeply concerning. I am sharing this so that other parents of children with special needs are aware and can carefully evaluate whether this environment will be supportive and inclusive for their child. I'm not sure why Yelp would take down an honest, heartfelt review. Let's be clear: I wrote my review based on personal experience--no connections, no bias. Just a parent whose kids truly enjoy their time at Wish Upon a Star. It's frustrating to see a genuine, positive review get filtered out, while some of the clearly false or exaggerated negative ones stay up. My experience over the past few years has been consistently great. The staff is caring, the environment is safe, and the focus has always been on the well-being of the children. Some of the negative claims about safety or security don't reflect what I've seen at all. If anything, they take safety seriously, as any responsible daycare should. As a parent, that's exactly what I want. If you're looking for an amazing daycare and after-school program, Wish Upon a Star remains my top choice--hands down. read more

No tour provided, poor communication, and disregard for children's safety and protection

This has truly been the most horrible daycare experience I have ever had. Every other day my daughter is coming home with bumps, bruises and scratches and I have to pull teeth to get an incident report, she came home with a bruise one day I asked her what happened and she said "Teacher hit me" I understand kids talk but I also don't take that lightly. I went up to the school and asked them if they could just contact if anything ever happens to her and we had an agreement and they said no problem mommy. Yesterday she came home with a bump on her forehead, I got no call, no text, no incident report, nothing and honestly if they dont want to call me just let me know about the incident through the report, once again pulling teeth to get an incident report. I go up to the school to speak to the director who is incredibly rude and disgusting to ask her what's going on and why I wasn't informed about my child being hurt. I said all I am asking is for me to be contacted whenever my child is hurt for any reason, she looked me in my face and said 'Yea that's not gonna happen.' .. I asked again because I wasnt sure if i heard her correctly.. I said 'you all can't contact me if anything happens to my child' she says 'No, thats not going to happen' once again.. lol okay that is a very crazy statement to make for someone I am paying to watch my kid. Before I was able to get my point across she said "I'll just get you a Zero Balance Letter and today would be her last day" they literally take no responsibility for anything, they don't hesitate to contact me for my money or if she needs pampers and wipes but cant send a simple text if she gets hurt. OK. Her clothes continuously went missing, she always had a diaper rash even after packing diaper rash cream and even her sippy cup went missing. Very disgusting daycare and she hasn't even been going her for a full 2 months. I just moved down here from Miami and down south they would never treat me or my child as if it were such a problem whenever she got hurt. Honestly, this place is horrible and the director once again is very disgusting and has a nasty attitude. I hope this place shuts down in the near future. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. Begging to be contacted whenever my child is hurt is crazy and if didn't bring it up, it would have never been brought up. read more

What we were told is not what was! Great teachers but questionable integrity of the front desk staff. Our infant contracted a Bacterial Infection in her eye that she did not have before we dropped her off. The staff NEVER called us to notify us. Her eye was swollen shut when we picked her up. Upon engaging the director she would rather cancel us immediately than address the issue. The director needs to fire herself!!! I've worked at daycares so I know what to expect. Some of these reviews people write for daycares are so silly... it's not a private nanny or babysitter. You have to realize that before you decide daycare is right for you. With that being said Wish Upon A Star is a good center. They are very clean, fair priced and genuinely care for the kid's. Communication can be hit or miss sometimes but that is human. Most importantly my kid is happy to go and has loved all his teachers. To me that is the biggest testament. read more

Treat my baby like they're own... I love the staff I was skeptical at first with some of the reviews I've read. But it couldn't be further from the truth. And I was nervous that my baby didn't have a lot of experience around other children or babies her age. When she was around babies she would cry. The teachers told me that my baby is doing pretty good in transitioning into daycare but she does not like to be touched by the other babies around. She started crying if they tried to touch her. One day when I went to pick her up I saw her eating in the corner barricaded by the toys. When I walked in they were trying to explain themselves as to why they kept her separated so she could eat without being bothered but I already knew exactly what they were doing because I do the same thing at home. The staff that I have gotten to get to know are really the sweetest, kindest, most nurturing women. My baby does not like just anybody (she cries for most people) and it's very reassuring when I drop her off that she has no problems extending her arms (with a smile) to go to her teachers. I just want to update that I have another child attending now so I have been with Wish Upon A Star for a total of 8 years. Aside from a few little misunderstandings, my experience has been very pleasant. There are a lot of teachers I really love, and a few I am not as fond of. Usually if there is a teacher I don't really like I don't see her around very much longer. There are some policies I don't really agree with, but that's business. There are also some kids my children don't like and kids can be mean, but I know the daycare in the end is keeping my kids safe. My kids are always clean and happy and my daughter absolutely adores her class. She comes home singing songs and telling me about random things she learns. I had brought my two year old daughter to this daycare and I had a ma incident happening to my two year old whether there was a big scrape on her body somewhere and nobody knew where it came from there was no body Giving me a report regarding it my child was getting bite all the time. Then I spoke to the director who was completely unprofessional and uncarrying basically telling me this child bit my child and my child took a toy from another child that was doing nothing and basically try to make my child the bad One. WISH UPON A STAR DAY CARE- Babcock Street My kids were always getting hit by other kids. The administrator Ms. Dima which is the Director didn't seem to care one bit. She is Extremely rude and unprofessional. My daughter had an incident where another child kicked her on the nose causing a nose bleed. It occurred in the morning, I was not notified of the incident until I picked up my daughter in the late afternoon. The following day, I spoke to the teacher during drop off & she said the "child's parents are working on the issue with the their child, as it's an ongoing problem." That if it kept happening they would kick the child out. Yesterday my child had a bruise on the eye which she did not have when dropped her off. However the week prior the same child 3 yrs old kicked and punched my child and nothing was done, no incident report nothing!!! I also brought this up to the Director, and once again excuses, saying how my child and the other child are friends. I advised her my husband and I are upset at the fact no one notified us of any of the incidents and we were going to look elsewhere for daycare and when decided will let her know when the kids last week will be. This all transpired Tuesday, yesterday Wednesday when I pick up my child a teacher asked me, "I was advised this is the last week", I advised it is not the last week. Today another teacher said the same thing to me. I decided to speak to the rude and unprofessional Director Ms.Dimas asking why is she telling the teachers is the kids last week when it is not, I told her word for word or our conversation from Tuesday 8/20/19; in which I told her if I decided to remove them I would let her know and she indeed said yea that's what you said. I asked her for a copy of the incident report from 8/19/19 and she refused to provide a copy of it. Then she said "as a matter of fact today will be your kids last day here, get out. Got in my face and said she was going to call the cops on me for trespassing. I told her she needs to provide all of my child's belongings and school supplies. The rude _ ss unprofessional Director gave me everything except for the school supplies and the incident report. And if I went the following day to try to get it she was going to call the police. I hope everyone reads this review and decide not to put there child at Wish Upon A Star. I even spoke to one of the teachers that asked about the rumor and was told by that teacher that Ms. Dimas is indeed very unprofessional and rude. Everyone be careful. Not sure who FC is or why she has had so many issues. My son and my daughter have been going to this school for over two years and we only had one incident where my son got bitten. But you know compared to other day cares this one is actually there and provides 24/7 updates for parents. This is the best daycare that we could find in our area and they are always nurturing and loving to all the kids. Anywhere you go there is going to be small mishaps like kids getting hit, they are young ones that have a lot to learn. Whoever FC was originally talking about must be gone because everyone there is professional and strong. They have mom qualities and I seen these teachers line up toddlers to walk to lunch. The kids respect the teachers, its a nice school trust me. We have tried MANY day cares and cant believe we found something with an affordable price and great staff. read more
