My friends and I had a delicious meal here. My only regret was that I didn't get the aged ribeye like they both did. It was probably one of the best steaks I've tasted, and all they gave me was one bite. I, on the other hand, ordered the shrimp and the octopus. The shrimp was a bit disappointing, both in terms of flavor and size of the shrimp (regular cocktail shrimp). But the the octopus was phenomenal. The complimentary passion fruit cocktail was a nice touch. The bread was fresh. The service was excellent. The wine menu is reasonably sized (maybe 40-50 bottles) given the seating capacity (maybe around 75). The ambiance is very inviting and definitely sets the mood. They even have a play room for children away from the main dining room.

Food was amazing! From the complimentary bacon bite, grilled octopus (basque style) and ribeye (amazing roasted garlic) and their mixed drinks! Service was excellent! If you are thinking about going here do yourself a favor and go!

    Amazing bread

Really loved our meal here. They have a patio with a heat lamp and about 4 tables. Otherwise it's inside seating. Started with the Amatxi salad which was DELICIOUS!! That with their fresh bread could have been meal enough for me. (Be sure to ask for butter with the bread. It's so good...) The ribeye with potatoes is cooked in a cast iron skillet and is plenty for 2 to share. The steak was beautifully seasoned. The potatoes were less exciting, but made better if you dip them in the butter sauce at the bottom of the pan. (The bread is also super good dipped in this...) Service was lovely. One of my favorite meals in Guanajuato!

Great service. Two small outdoor areas (one of which has a heat lamp). They brought two Amuse-bouches: sliced apples with tajin and pork belly--both tasty. We ordered the Rib Eye en cazuela de hierro and it was delicious. Especially when you scrape the potato wedges along the bottom of the cast iron skillet. We also had the Amatxi salad--also delicious. The bread is also so good! A lovely experience all around.

Amatxi is a beautiful restaurant next to La Victoriana on Paseo de Presa. The entrance is all lit up with a small cave like opening that leads you upstairs to the main dining room. The tables all face a glass wall looking over the street and small plaza. To the left is a see-through kitchen showing in a refrigerator the fine aged beef. There is a private patio with an attached see through area for children to play in that is very private and unobtrusive. Brilliant idea. We started with cocktails and I tried their version of a Mojito called a Mojitxa, with Mexcal rimmed with chile salt. Very tasty. They brought us gratis green apples with chile and then compliments of the chef pork belly with cheese that was delicious. I ordered the salmon medium rare served upside down on new potatoes, onions in a rojo sauce. The salmon could not have been more perfectly cooked. Not sure if that is an oxymoron but it was a hearty yet delicate dish that was superb in every way. On the way out one of our guests told the chef/owner that she loved the sauce on her fish and he went and gave her the leaves of this local plant to take with her. Well done, Amatxi.

The 40 day steak is a must!! Also the octopus, don't waste your time ordering anything else. The steak was delicious the best steak we have ever had. Service is also excellent.

Good food and service but not our vibe. Very modern and bumping music. Octopus was ok but the beef was delicious.

You get an option of 2 main dishes to choose from and typically most people go for the Enchiladas Mineras. You can get the Enchiladas with or without chicken. Unless you are a vegetarian, go for the chicken. The chicken is so soft and flavorful and the enchiladas have the perfect seasoning. The cheese, carrots, potatoes all are such simple but powerful additions to the dish that you cannot help but almost lick your empty plate within minutes. The pickled jalapeños and carrots that are served on each table are so delicious and the jalapeños have such a nice kick to complement this dish. I also ordered the hibiscus juice, which honestly has such a large serving and is a must here! The place does get crowded at around 7pm with a line, especially since there are not that many seats. After almost an hour wait (trust me it is worth it), I was seated. If you come alone or with just one person, chances are, you will be sitting with strangers and making friends as you eat.

We were fortunate enough to get a window table with a perfect view of the iconic Teatro Juárez. What a treat! The moment I tasted their tortilla soup, I was transported back in time. I first tried it twenty-five years ago, and with the very first spoonful, memories flooded back. It is still just as rich, comforting, and absolutely worth trying. Our party of three ordered the Menú del Día for only 300 pesos, which included an entrée, a first and second course, and a choice of coffee or dessert. Oh my goodness--the quality was outstanding. From the careful presentation of every dish, to the exceptional flavor, spotless restrooms, gracious staff, and unbeatable location, Casa Valadez easily earns five stars from me. If you're visiting Guanajuato, this restaurant is a must. Bonus: Their wine selection is surprisingly extensive!

The service excels in every way from the host to the waiters (a little bit old fashion because it's all men) to the bus boys. With the exception of the hummus, which was not very good, every other dish was excellent. All were beautifully presented. The ambience is fun all the way. Brightly lit, airy, and if you're a large enough group, you can sit by the open windows and watch the scene in the Square and at the Teatro. Best dishes were my fillet of salmon, companion's octopus with roasted potatoes, and their rice bowls.
